Yes it does. But I am glad that where I live I can go into a Bar or restaurant without having an asthma attack or smelling like an ashtray.

Status: offline 		More people gave up smoking the year the ban on smoking in public places was introduced than any other year. Ultimately when the health service is paid for by everyone’s taxes people have a social responsibility to look after themselves and each other. Obviously how much tax comes from tobacco sales is a valid argument but the overall aim of government in this area is to make people quit so what does this say to their shooting themselves in the foot nature in this regard? Just like those that will never believe smoking is harmful others will never believe passive smoking is harmful. It is and people should not be allowed to expose others to it, I mean does the smoke go through a purification process during that two seconds it's in someone’s lungs before being blown out?

Yeah we havent been allowed to smoke in enclosed areas/places of business for a hell of a long time (june/july 2007 in wales)

It's interesting that you should mention this because it affords a comparison with gun ownership.

A lot of people are very, very pissed off with the smoking ban, to the point that some believe that there's a more sinister motive behind the ban. No one cares about guns.

I tell you what not only can we kill each other with second hand cigarette smoke, we can also  poison everyone with diesel fumes, a known carcinogen. You smell diesel fumes, you are breathing it in, I wonder what damage those fumes are causing, I wager more than second hand cigarette smoke is doing, it is just that smokers are an easy target, the new  pariah in society.

He says guns should be free. But the ammo should cost 5,000 dollars a bullet!

Really, My view on gun control changed due to the fact that my Warden is an avid gun collector. He never shoots at anything but paper targets and he takes ownership very serously and does not keep guns loaded. He keeps them on the side. He is not a trigger happy person. He respects that its a deadly weapon. I appreciate this and he never had these guns when he had a child. He has said that if an intruder came in he would hope that the sound of him cocking the rifle would be enough.

There is a low emissions zone in London where toxic goods vehicles have to pay business destroying fees to enter the capital. It seems they care about this issue.
I'm guessing you smoke.

On July 1st 2007, England introduced a new law to make virtually all enclosed public places and workplaces in England smokefree. A smokefree England ensures a healthier environment, so everyone can socialise, relax, travel, shop and work free from secondhand smoke.

So the law has been for 18 months or so. Yes it is nice to be able to go to restaurants and bars without coming home smelling of smoke. What the law has done though is to increase the noise from clubs and pubs as patrons that wish to smoke have to go outside. It has also contributed to the decline of the pub trade too.

I can't speak for everyone but if the guy is as you described then i have no problem with people like him having a gun. It's when they get into the wrong hands i have a problem.
Many who have posted on here and in previous gun threads have said they would have no problem shooting an intruder. I find that quite alarming! Ok you shouldn't be breaking into someones house but to be shot for it, hmm i have a problem with it.
Many incidents of people going crazy with guns (licence holders too) tells me gun laws and checks aren't enough to prove that a  person is suitable to be allowed a gun.
What the answer is i don't know other than banning civilians from carrying gun's. Then you'll have the illegal trading so not really a solution !!

I'm not specifically talking about the congestion charge although that has a good effect on the situation. There is also emissions charging which charges according to age of HGV forcing those that want to do business in London to invest in new technology.
 
People in other cities were offered the option recently of congestion charging  but they declined. We voted for a mayor and knew that was one of his main policies, this is the only reason we got it. I think it's a good thing but Boris Johnson the new mayor has pandered to west London residents in failing to extend it.

But regardless of gun laws dont criminals still get guns illegally? There have been many raped and murdered during a home invation. A person should be able to protect themselves.

I personally dont own a gun.
