Unchecked capitalism (without government intervention and *SOCIAL* programs) is called 'tyranny be corporation.'

EDIT: Well that was a silly mistake XD

What agenda are you talking about. Freedom itself? My desire to be free, from Socialists who want to put sin taxes on anything that they feel might cost their precious church of government control a few tax dollars?

And why don't you quantify for us how much money you're talking about saving. You don't like the link I provided, put some links up yourself and show us exactly how much money our freedom is worth to you. What will be saved if smokers who the government forces to quit suffer for years and years in nursing homes and have countless procedures performed on them over all the extra years that they live on account of the government "saving" them.

quote:

ORIGINAL: rulemylife

No, I'm not making any argument for anything other than your link was not a fact, as you claim, but a very poorly done study designed to advance a specific agenda.

Light up all you want, you have my blessing.

Just don't try to tell me that smoking doesn't have an impact on overall health care costs.

I did.

Read my post.

Better yet, read the references in your own link, which is where my link came from.  As I've said several times before, and you seem to want to ignore.

THERE'S the bogeyman who will get us, if Congress and the President fails to curb our freedom...

And there is no shortage of potential bogeymen either, is there.

Again, I'm not arguing that point.

The only thing I've ever argued in this post is the validity of your link.

An issue you have totally skirted by putting up one smokescreen after another, and changing the argument countless times.

Buh-bye now, buh-bye.

Jettisoning pensioners into space is too costly I put forward the motion that care workers conduct a life assessment as to if the level of life is worth living first.

I Really Really Really hate to admit this but I kinda agree, in a round about way, what domiguy is getting at. It's Fucking Retarded and annoying the hell out of me.

Before I get Jumped about how I donlt give a shit about my Grandma think again, I just think it is the Families respnsibility not MINE to take care of YOUR Grandma.

And what FullCircle makes more sence than what we are doing now. A life not worth living is just throwing money in a fire because the whole idea if God wanted them God would take them .. well he's trying and we wont pull the god damned plug

I laugh at this. Firstly, I am not political, I am anti-govt big time (not to be confused with blowing up building types). Obama, Bush, like any political figure are liers. They do anything to get into office. However, what I am laughing at is the unyielding attacks by do gooders who THINK they can do a better job. Come on people. First the guy is in office for less than 2 months and he is getting attacked. Then people want jobs (understandably) but they want them now and nothing happens right away. Then there are the broken promises, well duh, what did you expect from a political figure? You cannot have everything one way, you must accept everything in two or more ways.

True. A significant pension could offset any discrepancy betwix medicare and the actual cost of care. Then again it would be kind of cool that once you hit a universal age of irrelavance you are immediately jettisoned off of the planet.

Can you imagine the fanfare and the money that the gov't could garner buy selling advertisement and all of the broadcast rights to the viewing of the spaceships departure?

It would be a touching ceremony. They would get to say some nice words before boarding, something touching about their country and flag. If they go too long, music would start playing similar to the Academy Awards and they would be immediately shoved into the spacecraft.

I ignored your assertion that the link I posted to the New England Journal of Medicine was somehow invalid or obscure because probably everyone except you knows that the New England Journal of Medicine is one of the most popular and widely-read peer-reviewed general medical journals in the world. It is also the oldest continuously published medical journal in the world.

This was the conclusion to the article I cited -

quote:

Conclusions If people stopped smoking, there would be a savings in health care costs, but only in the short term. Eventually, smoking cessation would lead to increased health care costs.

Call the New England Journal of Medicine obscure if you want, but your empty rhetoric will never change the reality. And for you to claim that the validity of my link was all you were arguing is laughable, because the record is right here. You were trying to suggest I'm part of a tobacco industry conspiracy (or that the New England Journal of Medicine is)...

Just laughable.

Is spanish mandatory in Canada? How many languages can you speak?

French is mandatory, Spanish is optional. I'm fluent in french and english, and am able to at least have basic conversations in spanish, portugese and italian. I also took ukrainian class, but it didn't stick, I still know the basics though (hello, goodbye, thank you, etc).

I have no problem with people who immigrate here legally. It is the ones who are here illegally who I don't want to support. You do understand the difference right? But if you insist, maybe we can ship them up to Canada for healthcare. I am sure you wouldn't have a problem taking care of their health costs.

I wouldn't have a problem with that at all. All kids deserve health care regardless of which country they were born in.

One of the disadvantages that the U.S. has in the world marketplace is that learning other languages is not mandatory in the school systems.  Monolingualism is easily cured.

question
WHat does global warming,, 9/11 was perpetrated by the government, there are aliens at Area 51 have in common?

answer

All 3 are used by liberals to sell books.

Excuse me, capitalism is nothing more than individual freedom. So your arguing against people having too much freedom. I mean really, build a time machine and teleport yourself back to 1941 Germany and make sure you get circumcised first if you aren't already. I'm sure you'll find that time and place interesting. No need to worry about the government there giving you too much freedom.

Some of us would prefer to provide for our families, not have 30-70 percent of our income taken by the federal, state and local government to support illegals and all the other programs liberal would-be-tyrants think are good for us. If you think illegal immigrants should get health care, feel free to drop by your local home depot, taxi them to a doctor and pay their bills out of your own pocket instead of insisting the federal government hold a gun to my head to make me pay for what *you* think is a good idea and that *you* think *other* people should pay for.

Capitalism isn't a "system" It's freedom. Socialism, communism, fascism are leftist political systems that reduce individuals to the property of the state. And btw, what's going on in this country right now isn't "socialism" it's technically fascism. I really wish you liberal, elitist, blowhards would understand the terms you use. As the Democratic party understands the first step to enslaving a free society isn't socialism it's fascism. Of course, you probably think fascism has something to do with the right.

The fascism is a product of the right propaganda was created specifically so useful idiots would beg for a "middle ground" instead of either "extreme". The Capitalist Extreme is a free society, by insisting on anything less you're insisting that you and your fellow man be enslaved by their government. Free your freaking mind.

Also, the holocaust didn't happen, global warming isn't real, 9/11 was perpetrated by the government, there are aliens at Area 51, and they can pry my gun out of my cold dead hands. <---you forgot that portion of your speech.
