Coldwarrior57 -> So much for getting the people back to work. No hopie changie SOS. (2/9/2009 8:21:04 AM)

The Association of Building Contractors, which represents 25,000 businesses around the country, condemned an executive order signed by Obama that restricts bidding on federally funded construction projects to union-controlled businesses:

http://gatewaypundit.blogspot.com/2009/02/obama-signs-legislation-putting-25000.html

I thought he was the PEOPLES prez, not just the unions.

Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) today denounced an Executive Order signed by President Obama that repeals Executive Order 13202, that prohibited federal agencies and recipients of federal funding from requiring contractors to sign union-only project labor agreements (PLAs) as a condition of performing work on federal and federally funded construction projects.

Keep choking the economy there team "o" .

When a dam breaks,it takes more than a couple weeks, months, years to fix it.

I`m amused that a supporter of the dam breaker, is blaming the new president for the flood damage.

This is a bush mess. The President is only here to fix it.

I thought he was pretty much square on the topic.

Unless, of course, you're just looking for people to applaud yet another muckraking post and pat you on the back.

what makes you so sure I am not?
Yet you cannot address the o/p. Its not bitching if its reporting the truth.
hmm team o gets the union vote, and then signs an XO to stop non union shops from bidding on gov contracts.
can you say quid pro quo?
I love the double standards of the left.

The mess goes back far before Bush...and now each day that goes by just has me convinced that Barack is just nailing in the final nails into the coffin.

America is dead.

Vendaval -> RE: So much for getting the people back to work. No hopie changie SOS. (2/9/2009 8:48:24 AM)

It is not a double standard for people here to call you on posting the same whining over and over and over and tell you to take it elsewhere.

Using a President Bush model of economic stimulation and a Democratic free spending mentality will "fix it"? How do you come to that rationalization?

Why will President Bush's ideas about providing money for failures and giving out tax rebates, even to people who didn't pay taxes, work now just because President Obama has adopted them as his own?

Time? Is that why you are now supporting a third term of the same action, if not the same agenda?

aravain -> RE: So much for getting the people back to work. No hopie changie SOS. (2/9/2009 11:27:55 AM)

I... don't see what the problem is, here. Seems perfectly reasonable.

Then again, I have a tendency to believe that unions are there to help people ('cause hey, usually they are), mostly because I was raised that way (despite my dad being management in a union shop, which meant that he had to butt heads against the union *ALL* the time).

There's good and bad things about unions, but as a taxpayer I wouldn't want my money going toward construction projects with non-union shops. *shrug* I guess you could say I'm *GLAD* for this *CHANGE*.

Sanity -> RE: So much for getting the people back to work. No hopie changie SOS. (2/9/2009 11:57:50 AM)

The problem with it is that the unions are practically an arm of the President's political party, and they force their members to donate to the President's political party - so this is, what would you call it, graft? Extortion? Kickbacks?

It's not hope, it's not change... heck, it's not really even democracy.

housesub4you -> RE: So much for getting the people back to work. No hopie changie SOS. (2/9/2009 1:10:02 PM)

I'm a union memeber, and no one forced me to donate money to him, or any one I know of that is a union memeber. (Teamsters)

I suppose you believe every taxpayer is forced to donate because of that little box on the tax forms asking if you want to doante a buck to the election fund, it is the same way with my union.  If you want to you check yes, if not you leave it blank.

And this is all becoming the same whining drooling crap, jeez I can't wait for this dam bill to be passed so there is something new to bitch about already

Reporting the truth ?....is that how you see yourself Coldwarrior,an honest unbiased reporter of truth. Please give me a break, what you do bears no resemblence to reporting, has no balence ,and is in fact nothing more than bitching with questionable sources and incomplete truths provided for justification.
I used to find you amusing,at this point tedious is the best I can come up with.

He isn't he's saying it's Bush's failed policies and his "borrow and spend" mentality that is the cause of the mess.  Which it is.

No matter how you all spin it, it's gonna take a long time to clean up the mess left by Bush and his incompetent "leadership".

Except...the borrow and spend mentality was alive and well LONG before Bush came in.  The mess isn't Bush's, it's been the US Government's mess in the making for decades.

And now the US government ironically thinks it can fix the mess caused by "borrowing and spending" how?  By more borrowing and spending!

So 'spin' it differently. Why is doing the same thing with more dollars going to generate a different result this time?

By your post - you feel that President Bush's 'stimulus' policy, with the SAME Democratic Congressional oversight in place - will work with more money applied and more time. Something like a 3rd term would have provided if not Constitutionally prohibited; that right?

Same stimulus + Same over-sight + More money + More time = Different result?

President Obama's leadership is the only missing aspect of the above equation which will change the result? Faith based government is okay for the religious I guess. Me? I'll base my actions and projections strictly on simple math and pragmatic observation of prior results when the same action was taken.

He and I are referring to his entire term in office, not the stimulous package.  Which is the cause of all the problems now.  Not the previous presidents, not Obama, not Clinton, Not BushSr, Not Reagan, Not Carter, Not even Nixon.

George W Bush

This is his legacy.  This is the result of his policies over his full 2 terms.  Not what he did in the dying days.  Sorry but your continuously talking about the package and stuff well that's deflection.  A sign of desperation of someone who still is in denial about just how incompetent their now former President actually was.

Deflection? Isn't that the focus, I think the President said it should be the ONLY focus, of his intentions. I don't see why its so important of a distinction to say it came from his "dying days". It was President Bush's stimulus that is the model being followed by President Obama. If it were a bad idea or wrong - wouldn't he, and Congress, have another?

But I think I now understand. President Obama and the Democrats want to insure President Bush's legacy by seeing his economic policies through a third term which will prove him an incompetent leader, but having a GREAT idea to rescue the economy as it exists today. Such a GREAT idea that its a model for President Obama who will put another Trillion dollars into it and implement it through his administration.

Wow - you, 59, and the President have a lot more confidence in President Bush's plan than I do.

Got it now! THANKS!

You dont see what the problem is?
I thought obama was america's president, or is he just the union's president?
that 25,000 business that cannot get gov contracts ,just for giggles lets say its 5 people per shop.
that is 125,000 people
that is about close to 3 so so size towns.
I dont know about you but 125,000 americans not being able to bid on gov jobs, is a big thing.
This country is bleeding money and yet team barry is wanting to charge the american public 10 -20 % more to get the job done  because he is using union workers.
Shouldnt team barry's job and congress as well, to save the american tax payers money?
not spend more of it?
