Status: offline 		The laughter thread made me think of this.

I recently got into a conversation with a young lady about trans-finite mathematics.  To be specific, Cantor, continuum  hypothesis and that sort of stuff.  It went into non-Euclidean Geometry, General Relativity and Aristotle vs. Kant with a detour into Pascal.  It was a conversation about the nature of infinity as a mathematical and a philosophical object. We giggled at the time because she was tied up while talking about these things. I had just spanked her quite a bit, and she kept waggling the ropes when she was making a point. We both thought that was hilarious.  Partially, there was this kinky overtone where I was the professor and she was the lusty student, but then the conversation just got too interesting. We got distracted by the academic exchange and then laughed a lot and had a rather intense session. 

I suppose I am asking, have you ever found that you are just enjoying each other on ten other levels and then the sex - and even the kink became something of an afterthought, only to come back all the more intensely?

I have never been able to partner up with someone with whom I did not also lust after their mind. *smiles*

Sure ropes, and games of slap and tickle are fun.. however there *has* to be something between the ears, and in the heart to capture and keep my attention.

If I do not respect them then I simply can not go on with any of it.

Status: offline 		Exactly.  I doubt I could carry on a conversation about "trans-finite mathematics" without there being much laughter (on His part)  but that being said ... His mind has to "turn me on" before there can be anything else.

Status: offline 		Yes I have carried out complex theoretical discussions and debates in the middle of both sessions and conventional (if there is such a thing) sex. However, to submit to someone I need to be attracted to their brain, look into their eyes and not only see them and their potential but have it backed up by their actions. If those things happen (obviously everything else helps) then submitting to them allowing myself to go where the situations takes us is possible. The mind is what attracts me - without it nothing sexual is going to happen. (Hopefully that makes sense, its been an exceptionally long couple days.)

Status: offline 		I enjoy those kinds of conversations a lot, but when I'm bottoming or submitting, I'm usually barely coherent, and when I am topping or dominating someone, I try to affect him in ways that aren't exactly intellectual. It's fun to talk about stuff like that before or afterward, though!

Status: offline 		*nod* I know that one thing that I really want, if we should ever find someone to add to our communion again, is someone who would understand the concept of "Happy Tangent Land"... the idea of a conversation that starts out here (X), and travels this circuitous, scenic journey through realms that one wouldn't even think of as being remotely related... and yet, the track of the conversation makes perfect sense as it goes along... only to end up -back- at (X) at some point (often -hours- later). We used to wake up in the middle of the night to these amazingly complex conversations... they'd just wander around, like professors in their nightgowns, tossing out relevant, but random, concepts for the nearest butterfly net.

Status: offline 		It seems a lovely concept.  One of the Zen philosophies is "when you're walking, walk;  when you're sitting, sit;  when you're running, run", meaning that the activity in hand is the world as it exists in order to enjoy it to its full.  i would find it difficult to get a pre pain connection when already the commitment of the tie up is made.  However, i MAY get HUGELY turned on by a lecture

Status: offline 		No, it wouldn't happen at a time like that. Usually all MY energy, along with any rational thoughts have buggered off by then. I'm usually trying not to cry , trying not to shout/scream/yelp too loudly and so on.

We did have this one conversation, though.......It was really deep and meaningful. I said I didn't want to hurt and he said, *You can't bleed unless you're hurt, you silly girl*. That's about as intelligent as we get at these times..lol

It has been my experience, that many submissives are very intelligent.  I can not imagine a smart lady giving herself to a dunce.  I don't see how she could possibly respect him.  I mean he might be a big scary brute, that she might fear, but I can't see how she could respect him if she knew she was ten times smarter than him.
