Wow, you know, I think that scening is THE perfect time to talk such things.  At least I could blame my blank, glassy stare on the endorphins!
I don't think I could even get over with that...   I've been told my eyes and face are very expressive.    With trans finite math, I'd probably start laughing hysterically, and kill the mood, just like when I went flying out of bed.    M

Perhaps with that topic, but then again there may be others you are in to.  I admit, I was a little surprised she was so interested in the topic myself. On the other hand she is very interested in philosophy and she has read and processed most of the classics.

I was joking....   I actually am turned on by a very smart man, but only if it doesn't accompany an ego the size of God's.     What makes me tick is a balanced human being who isn't too self absorbed to apreciate/respect others.    I suppose what I try to avoid is the mindset that believes value and goodness lies in his thoughts/beliefs/deeds, and hell is "the others" , paraphrasing what someone famous once said.    M

Smart discussions are hot, but I don't want to be the smart one or even close.

If I were tied up or engaging in any other sexual activity and still conversing about quantum physics (before, during or after) ....then obviously I am not into the sexual activity at all.

If I can talk, think or reason while some dude is 'doing things to me', then I ain't that into you and what you are doing to me isn't doing it for me.

I prefer a guy to shut me up, tyvm.  Reasoning has it's time and place, which is not when I am being 'fuked' with.  Simpler way of saying it: If I remember my own name at the time then YOU SUCK!

Well, without getting all existentialist....

Seriously, I can't imagine anyone who enjoys imbalanced egotistical sociopaths.   Honestly, I don't think it would be possible to have such an engaging and wonderful intellectual discourse like she and I had if there was not a great deal of mutual respect exchanged.

This often happens with Mistress and i.  Conversations easily morph from one topic to another where most people would see no relation but to both of us there is a very logical path.  Segways through obscure references that somehow make sense to both of us despite growing up in very different enviornments.  She explains art to me, i rant about designing geodesic domes, we debate models of the universe, mythology, spirituality, psychology, evolution, and whatever else may cross over.

*nod* I know that one thing that I really want, if we should ever find someone to add to our communion again, is someone who would understand the concept of "Happy Tangent Land"... the idea of a conversation that starts out here (X), and travels this circuitous, scenic journey through realms that one wouldn't even think of as being remotely related... and yet, the track of the conversation makes perfect sense as it goes along... only to end up -back- at (X) at some point (often -hours- later). We used to wake up in the middle of the night to these amazingly complex conversations... they'd just wander around, like professors in their nightgowns, tossing out relevant, but random, concepts for the nearest butterfly net.

Believe me I get that.  There's a time and a place for that too.  I'm thinking that perhaps because she knows we can go into the deeply intellectual, it is now easier for her to go more like you just described.  Actually, would any of the submissives here care to comment on that?

Gallileo used to have this kind of relationship with the church and the Inquisition: He'd advance some theory that would move mankind out of it's dark and dreary world of supernatural theocracy, and they would playfully threaten him and his family with torture and then (ha ha) place him under house arrest for the rest of his life, seperating him from his daughter, never allowing them to see each other.

That's the problem with conservative trains of thought: they never give you a safeword.

This is what being a good church goer gets you.

Pardon me, I am a little confused where this is coming from.  Not that I disagree with your history, I just don't follow your context.   BTW she has a safe word - it's actually a rather famous, yet not too commonly talked about philosopher and another in-joke.

I know what you mean...    A sure sign that we're not going to become lovers is when I can have great, open, easy conversation on the first date.    I like to get a feel for how well we communicate on the phone instead, because the chemistry doesn't interfere as much with my ability to express that way.    M

Hmm...it must have been really adorable. Naked, bound girl and her Master, discussing about some mathematical theories during  session...^-^ And if afterwards you were both able to feel the desire and passion again (even with a double strenght), than there's everything all right ;-) It's just mean, that for you there is no bad time to have a conversation.

It's beautiful in my opinion ^-^

OMG....I'm supposed to talk to him?!?!?!

Depends on if I've used a gag...

I have 22 other hours in the day to discuss all kinds of things with him... I'm not wasting intense times to talk about physics. But if that floats your boat...it just seems that you're starting to come across with the "I'm better and more refined than you" vibe. It could be that I haven't had enough coffee yet this morning, but that's the impression I'm getting.

Two thoughts... There can be a lot of just standing around waiting for the D to get the ropes and chains sorted out and small talk can make that more comfortable while you are shivering and trying not to be bored.

Mind fucks come in all shapes and sized so taking a highly vocal and intellectualizing (often a protective coping skill) person from that mental space all the way to non vocal is kinda hot.

Thank you very much.  I think you hit on something there.  If you can talk like that even in session, there is a great deal of closeness and that builds trust which will make the next session all the more awesome.

Hmm...I haven't noticed any conceit in OP's words. He's not proclaming: "Oh, listen everyone! I'm better than all of you, cause I am discussing about mathemathic, even while playing BDSM scene! And you're not, haha!". He's just sharing his experiance - which he considered amusing and worthy to mention - with us. And I think, that this is one of the main functions of internet formus - exchange of opinions and experiences ;-)

The only thing I noticed is that I fell for it again because of my lack of attention span in keeping track of who's who.

Last week the OP had a stalker, days later he discussed angst at telling his wife about his D/s desires, now he has a play partner I guess.

I wish I could remove statements here now, scruplistically (made up word) I cannot fathom commenting or contributing attention towards anyone who intentionally cheats on his spouse.

To do so would seem too much like advocating their behaviour.
