Aynne88 -> RE: Limbaugh's latest attacker: RNC's Steele (3/8/2009 7:18:44 PM)

He has no idea. I just read him stating that Bill Maher was the most conservative person on his own show, so he does not deal in honesty. I am a faithful viewer of Maher, conservative he ain't, and his last show he had on T. Boone Pickens, so yeah, MShake just makes things up as he goes. Poor thing.[8|]

Oh, I don't think it ever stopped being "fair game" for some of our posters. But that doesn't change the fact that it's a juvenile nickname. Of course, that may be part of its appeal in some circles.

dc, I don't disagree with you.  You'll not find anywhere that I've called our President anything other than "Obama", I think.

However, even though you were never the guilty party (that I'm aware of, or remember), calling our President "cute" or "funny" names has a long history from your side of the bench.

How many times did I (and others) politely ask Synergy to apply a little respect and stop the countless childish "monkey boy" attacks on Bush ... and exactly how many posts from the liberal side of the house came in our support, or to ask him to do the same thing?

Damn few, if any.

So, by simply calling the current President by his actual name ... and getting flack for it from the liberals ... seems a touch ... disingenuous to me, I'm afraid.

Ok...let's stick to his positions: I have a great problem with the fact that Rush is a liar of the first order: What lies has he told?

Ok, lets have a conversation, and see if we can determine what the "truth" is, or at least what the facts are, and what was actually said, shall we?

quote:

ORIGINAL: SpinnerofTales

For example, on June 9, Rush pontificated : one of the things that -- that the -- the AIDS activists said regularly back then was, oh, this is only a matter of time before it spreads to the heterosexual community.And of course it -- it hasn't. It -- it didn't, and it hasn't, other than in Africa, and in Africa it is -- it is being spread not just by -- it -- it -- it's promiscuity that -- that -- that spreads this, if you want to know the truth. It's promiscuity.
How wonderful that Mr. Limbaugh values his self-avowed homphobia more than getting accurate information out to the listeners. The rate of AIDS infection are growing in heterosexual communities far faster than in the homosexual community.

I would request a link to Rush's actual words (not what someone else said he said ... that's defined as hearsay, and not allowed).

Second, I'd request that you back up your claim on the growth of AIDS in both the homosexual, and heterosexual community, over a significant period of time FROM A RELIABLE, NON-PARTISAN source.

Then we can discuss the truth of Rush's claims.  Truthfully, I really don't know the answers to this one, but you are making claims of facts just as Rush apparently did, and if you wish us to discount his words, then by rights we should discount yours, as neither seem to be based on anything other than opinion.

quote:

ORIGINAL: SpinnerofTales

Last week, for another example, Mr. Limbaugh made the claim that the National Organization of Women supported a Muslim doctor in Buffalo for beheading his wife because it was merely a matter of "cultural diversity"....The head of NOW was quick to point out that the organization strongly disapproved of beheading women in all cases.

Please provide the actual words, and context in which Rush said this.

quote:

ORIGINAL: SpinnerofTales

How about his claim that "No one ever claimed that Iraq had anything to do with the 9-11 attack?" that is revisionist history at it's finest.

Please provide a link to his words.

Also, remember that context is important.  We have all had enough of the parsing of someones words to remove the true meaning, and make them appear to mean something else, haven't we?

quote:

ORIGINAL: SpinnerofTales

In short, I have no more objection to the nonsense and falsehoods that Mr. Limbaugh bases his career upon....

That remains to be proven, after you respond in detail to my questions, and requests.

quote:

ORIGINAL: SpinnerofTales

... any more than I object to the stuff that Howard Stern builds his career upon. But I don't think either of them need to be taken very seriously.

quote:

ORIGINAL: SpinnerofTales

How's that for sticking to the issues?

Remains to be seen.

Firm ---

A few thoughts:

-- I think calling the President names is a bipartisan tradition (Tricky Dick, Slick Willy) that doesn't seem to appeal personally to either you or me.

-- I see a slight difference between, say, "Slick Willy" and "President Hussein" in that the latter has an undercurrent of "Well, I'm not actually calling him a Muslim or a foreigner, but let's muddy the waters a bit."

-- If you had a kid who'd done something unacceptable, would you take "But Sinergy did it!" as an excuse?

-- I didn't like "Monkey Boy" either and should have said so.

Cheers,

DC

TheHeretic -> RE: Limbaugh's latest attacker: RNC's Steele (3/8/2009 10:33:30 PM)

       There was a little part of me that wanted the "monkeyboy" person to show up on the thread about the NY Post cartoon.  That little part of me was hoping to see him explain how important it is to treat people differently based on the color of their skin...

     I'm looking at these little jabs in address, towards the new administration.  I thought "Dear Leader" was well above the belt; as much a poke at the followers as at the man.  I wouldn't use it myself, but it IS well inside the traditions of spirited political discussion.

      I suspect people calling him "Hussein" will grow tiresome very quickly, and we'll be stuck hearing it anyway.

      Maybe you should have, DC.  The bar got pretty low during the last eight years, and there was too much consent to it.

MasterShake69 -> RE: Limbaugh's latest attacker: RNC's Steele (3/8/2009 11:08:04 PM)

If Obama never used his middle name then it would be one thing.  However after he got elected all of a sudden he discovered his middle name.  If you’re going to use it for political gain then be prepared to be a man and face any negative connotations it may come with.     McCain during the campaign attacked anyone who used Obamas middle name while he was around.

A couple things first i was pointing out DL Hughley is about to be cancelled.  Also later on the same CNN show where DL Hughley was interviewing Mr STeele about Limbaugh.  DL Hughley on the program had MR Farr on and was trying to get Mr Farr to say something.  However what he said was very unexpected.

SOme how Mr Farr avoided DL's trap and fired a shot of truth between DLs eyes.   DL couldnt respond to it but earlier in the show Mr Steel failed at avoiding DLs trap.

For what purpose? Here we have pro-Limbaugh fans stomping their feet because apparently their darling's getting attacked on personal grounds, and that's all you can think of coming up with? How puerile.

MasterShake69 -> RE: Limbaugh's latest attacker: RNC's Steele (3/8/2009 11:37:05 PM)

T boone is the most conservative on the panel?????  so he actually stayed for the whole show instead of just a one on one interview ;)  I must have missed that rare HBO show. My comment was about his PANNEL.  Sure Maher has interviewed conservatives one on one but that’s just a small isolated segment of the show. It’s a very rare occurrence you get a true conservative on his HBO shows PANEL.   You usually get these wussy liberal republicans on it.        Thats why i say since Maher’s HBO show started Bill Maher has been the conservative one on the panel.  You may notice those guests he calls conservatives or republicans wouldn’t qualify as  one on CNN ;) SO if Maher is a libertarian like he pretends to be then he would be the most conservative one his show ;)

This is a con narrative, with no basis in reality and doesn`t excuse the bigotry.

The "dearest leader"thing was a put-down of his supporters.(a rushism)

And there`s no fairness doctrine here.

At least not till President Obama gets thousands and thousands of Americans killed or kills an economy, as bush has.

Then one can call him whatever names their hearts desire and still maintain credibility.

VanessaChaland -> RE: Limbaugh's latest attacker: RNC's Steele (3/9/2009 3:31:00 AM)

 Limbaugh? Who cares? I mean the guy is like so 1990's. He's hung up on the Clintons (not a Clinton supporter here, hag Hilliary is the opposite/same of Cheney, loves money and power, nothing else, and Bill got a blowjob, so what?) blames them for everything from our current debt to global warming, to Iraq, the Taliban and the price of pussy in China.

He's not a journalist, not an economist, no degrees, flunked out of college, wussed out on Vietnam, was on government assistance for a time, yes welfare, nothing other than a hypocritical oxy-Viagra sucking windbag.

He's an entertainer, same as Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly and Fox News. He makes millions talking smack, towing the party line, hawking his latest books, blogs, sites, conservative ties and other junk. He is not new, nothing intelligent, nothing fresh, unfair, unbalanced, can not tell the truth and does not care too. He does what he does to make money, period. Nothing else. Its business, thats it. He saw an oppurtunity to make millions and took it. The capitalist in me says, "Congrats" on your success. The rational human being and patriotic American in me says what a schmuck. But again, he is an entertainer, no matter how it's packaged. The same as a baseball player, a singer, dancer, poet, author (his specialty is fiction). Many of them make many, many millions doing their "thing". He does his thing, his show, his books, radio etc. Anyone that can not see this, and anyone that takes him seriously needs to see a shrink to get some help on bringing them back to reality. :)

(This message is brought to you by a long term (sometimes, former, maybe again in the future, but I doubt it) Republican voter, and I approve this message. ) :)

I agree with you. It makes it even more pathetic that the leader of a major political party felt he had to apologise to this clown.

Write your own apology to Rush! [:D]
