I personally would be annoyed if Fox decided he wanted to sleep on the floor. I sleep with him in my arms, he is the right height for the perfect head rest and his body heat makes sleeping much more comfortable. IT might be something he might see as a submissive gesture, but I would prefer my bedtime comfort outweigh his submissive urge. If he wants objectification, I can tell him he is my body pillow and nothing more.

he never SAID "you sleep on the floor" and if i help keep him warm when it's cold, i'm doing him more good than being an area rug =p

I wouldn't get any sleep there. Plus he wakes up if I'm not next to him. Literally I get up to go to the bathroom and he wakes up immediately. So both of us sleep better when in the bed. If he wanted me on the floor, I would need a mattress and a pillow and blanket to do so. Sleep deprivation is a hard limit.

this slave is not allowed to sleep on the floor...which works out great because she has enough issues with getting good restful sleep anyway and wouldn't prefer it, if given the option.
 
then again, this slave doesn't feel submission, so that might have something to do with why it isn't appealing, as well.

Unless the person is my lover, it's unlikely that they'll be sharing my bed for the night: cuddling and snuggling is grand, and I like being held as I drift off, but after that I want to be alone. Having a slave or a submissive sleeping on the floor at the foot of my bed is lovely - I like knowing that they're there and available for my use, should I feel the need or desire. There's also something that I find both comforting and arousing in the physical appearance of the power exchange. Of course, I also tend to restrict access to furniture.

Well he did say in his mind. And he did again, say it was up to the wims of the Master or Mistress. So he never said anything about your rules, only his and his opinion.

for myself personally sleeping on the floor on my mat is a punishment. I sleep better in his arms, and he sleeps better with me next to him. I've had to sleep on the floor only once, and I didn't sleep the whole night, thankfully I didn't work the next day so was able to get some sleep once he woke up and we talked it out. The only thing I regret is that he didn't have time due to work obligations to give me the aftercare i needed that day.

Interesting.  The other night, I slept on the floor in front of my fireplace; kind of a 'camping out' like I used to do when I was little.  That was comforting. 
Sleeping on the floor within the context of a relationship is something I did in a previous relationship (Well, on a mattress on the floor) and I hated it.  I am a cuddle monster.  The person's other was making a point by refusing me a place at his side in the bed and I got the message loud and clear and despised her for it and resented him not standing up to that which he was supposed to have dominion over.  I felt as if I was being treated like a dog and I don't get off, in any way, shape, or form, on humiliation.  He did, when she wasn't around prior to an okay to do so and in a venue different from their marital bed, sleep in the same bed with me.  The place and event were spiritual in nature, so it was particularly special to me.  I also enjoyed the gesture of defiance, though I'd have appreciated it being more forthright: "Ya see the collar around your neck, decision's mine", something along those lines. 
Yeah, no.  Relegated to the floor is not for me.  Though I respect your right to find pleasure in and enjoy it.

 Interesting question. I sit at his feet sometimes when I'm feeling submissive. Sometimes I nap at his feet because I like napping, and that's kind've submissive. However, I can't imagine wanting to sleep on the floor all night...cuddling at night is one of my happiest moments. Like others here, I occasionally sleep on the floor out of sheer weirdness, so I imagine there might be a time when I sleep there out of submission, but it ain't happened yet.

I wouldn't put up with it either, specially if it was my bed bought and paid for  by me. I'd be like either give me the money I payed for this bed* 4 thousand dollars to be exact* and I will think about it,  or YOU sleep on the floor, it's my bed.

You said yourself that you couldn't stay there because then you wouldn't have been able to work. That's why most people hard limit floors, they won't get any sleep and they won't be able to drive or work. It's a safety thing.

Sleeping on the floor doesn't equate with feeling more submissive inside my brain. I can sorta of understand on an intellectual level, but not beyond that.
Nor would he even permit it, he alwayssssssssss falls asleep immediately using my head as a pillow. Cute.. but weird however that is his choice to make. He makes this adorable little huffing sigh sound, then kerplunk. His head lands on mine.[:D]

Me too Holly. He loves me as much as He owns me, there is no way he will even allow me to sleep on the floor let alone make me. We decided a long time ago that any arguments or disagreements would be settled before bedtime, and to be with a man that would find casting me to the floor would mean that he did not love me, and that just means that I could not submit anyway, thereby defeating the whole thing. He only owns me because I am in love with him, and if he were that type of Master I could not be His. Besides, He has far better ways of making me know who owns me than making me sleep on the floor when I am so much more pleasant to reach over and take.

I would feel like i was being punished if made to sleep on the floor......besides, i'm old.....i don't think my body could handle it.....not if you expected to wake with a sweet loving submissive the next morning <laugh>

In my last relationship,  if he was napping i'd sit on the floor next to his side of the bed and read while i was waiting for him to wake.  It felt like the right place to be..... waiting to serve in whatever way he might wish.

I used to like it there, to the point where being "allowed" to sleep in the bed was almost a punishment. I couldn't sleep very well at the same level as her; just didn't feel right.

When staying nights with my former owner, my place to sleep was on the floor.  Sometimes he would allow me at the foot of his bed, but he kicked his feet so much in his sleep I was actually more comfortable (and safer!) on the floor.  It was difficult at first, but I adjusted to it.

Really, I was just happy to be with him, no matter where I slept.

Fast forward to later on, a man I was seeing for a short time would have me sleep beside him, with his arms around me.  This was much easier to get used to!  [:D]

So many opinions and answers, how fantastic!  It is such a simple thing really, but one which brings up strong emotions and responses; i had no idea that it would so quite so much and it is very interesting, thankyou!  Apart from the obvious medical issues that would prevent someone from realistically sleeping on the floor, it seems to me that there are deeper issues concerning what is considered to be basic rights.  Rights to be warm, fed and watered as well as somewhere to sleep.  Fundamental things which we all know to be important to our everyday well being.  i am wondering if these inbuilt preprogrammed needs are, in some cases,  overriding what a Master/Mistress may want from their slave...  i have to admit that i am having a huge issue with something that my Master wants me to do; something which is bringing out just as strong and emotive a reaction as this thread has brought out in others lol!  i may post about it later; i need a sensible perspective...

i think that part of the reason that i felt so good about sleeping on the floor initially, was that Sir and i have been getting into puppy play lately (so much so that He calls me Puppy, or Pups in public lol!)  Now, i am not saying for a minute that either of Uus actually think i am a dog lol!  What it does do however, is take me away from my mind for a bit, in the same way that impact play does, but in a more subtle way.  Like a dream state and my mind empties...no responsibility, no worries...lovely.  Maybe this is a clue to why the floor felt so good to me at that point?  i do ordinarily sit at His feet when watching tv, eating informal dinners, while He is on the laptop etc but that is part of everyday life and has just evolved that way.
