No worries, I don't take offense or take things personally. Life is far too enjoyable. Just for information, year nine isn't nine year olds, which is why I clarified that I was speaking of UK key stages only. The issue with the HPV virus is that it is targeted at a certain age group and if don't fall within it, then getting it is incredibly hard. Getting a smear under 25 is virtually impossible without being made to feel as if you have done something wrong(when you are of a certain age you don't always have the fortune to be as confident as you could be). Your only other option is a GU clinic if doctors don't believe you are a worthwhile case. The thing is, people have to get their information from somewhere. Now, seeing as education at the moment either has it's hands tied or has been told that such important lessons such as PSHE are not worth the time to devote and parents come up against blank walls when trying to educate themselves and protect their future, where else is it going to come from? Books are great, but again, are a form of media. Internet, yet again another form. I do understand the POV that celebiconism can reach far extremes, however this has been such a fantastic chance to show reality. And that is what Jade was known for and she did it admirably IMO. Take away the 'hello' and 'ok' magazines - I didn't read any of these because for me, they aren't to my liking. I did watch the documentaries which I found to be informative on the procedures, drugs and social care. I haven't seen the wedding but I am not ashamed or embarressed to see the hearts and unicorns fantasy of it all and see how fairytale an ending she had and bravo to her for it. You know, I see the irony in your statement about getting on with life and make the best of what you have got, because that is exactly what Jade did and showed it to whoever had the stomach to watch. In a time when people live on empty hope and maybesomeday fingers crossed and soap opera endings where (to quote DrWho) 'everybody lives', it was refreshing to see the reality of death and someone living to die. the.dark.
