ORIGINAL: allthatjaz We have some of those chinese cups that you put a flame inside and then stick to the skin. Is this the same as fire cupping? If so we would love to know the right technique for doing it as we just can't quite get it right I'm not an expert in the process, but I do firmly grasp the theory. A cup or ramekin is placed flush to the skin, making an airtight seal. The flame in the cup uses all the oxygen, creating a weak vacuum. This holds the cup to the skin, raises the skin inside the lip of the glass, and produces the suction effect. As far as I can tell, there's no idiot proof way to do this, so caution, fire extinguishers, and aloe vera should be prized. I've never seen them, but I had the idea for a bong-esque cup, which burns the material on one side, and draws air from the side cupping the skin. I heavily doubt I'm the first to have that thought. Edit: Youtube, while also not a professional, has some videos which might clear up some questions. Thanks HeavansKeeper... I never thought of a lesson from Youtube! I was shown how to do it by a Chinese woman and she made it look so easy before selling me the glass globes for a small fortune!
