Hopefully the Democrats and Republicans will self destruct and we'll get real "change" in Washington over the next few years. God, I'm sick to death of both of those parties and their "either/or" type of thinking! There is another option; shitcan BOTH of them! Anyone who votes democrat or republican is throwing their vote in the toilet.

Kittin, do you really think she's "conservative?" From what I can see most Repubs are not "conservative" they just use that word as a label more or less. I mean what's really "conservative" about Sara Palin?

FR: I think that some of you may well be underestimating Palin. She seems to be the kind of person who rises to the occasion, and manages to upset expectations. I think this shows both a strong personality, and a lot of native intelligence. "Book learnin'" you can get from books. I've often played up my rural roots and background when it benefit me to play to the prejudices of my audience. Usually, it ended up with an alligator smile on my lips. I suspect that Palin can play this game quite well. I also suspect that the way she was treated by many (including damn near every poster in this thread, who has displayed a great amount of condescension, and "I'm better than the red-neck rubes" attitude) was a challenge and a wakeup call to her. Don't be surprised if she surprises you again. After all, none of you really expected Bush to get elected ... twice. [:D] Firm

No chance of that happening: Palin is thick as two short planks. She sank it for the Reps this election: she would do it again, if she were nominated. Even the Republicans aren't that stupid that they'd nominate her again - especially not for an even higher office. She's toast. She'll end up on a chat show, or writing books, or both. So, no, it's not the last we've seen of her [8\|] .

Thank you kittin, the problem is, he would probably make that remark to a woman that truly either did want children and could not have them or could not afford them, which could be devasting to her. To me, it is just more of the same compassionate conservatism I am used to seeing from angry men like that, and expect to see it for the next 4 (8) years. [:D]. Besides, doesn't he know, liberal feminists all hate babies and practice witchcraft? Isn't that what Falwell said? I don't mean to hijack here rule, sorry. Back on topic, I don't think the real leaders of the GOP whomever they may be would actually "allow" her to be center stage again, after the loss of McCain which so many attribute to her. Well, and the glorious failure of Bush for almost a decade. They sabotage themselves. I abhor the idea but I think if they put someone competent with McSame he may actually have won just because of the racism in America. FR ...i think some people here have ...er....misunderestimated Palin. Essentially she played to a specific constituency. If she had been running in the previous two elections it may well have worked. Problem is, that consituency is on a downcurve. If she is capable of reinventing herself to appeal to a different constituency she might be succesful......however she may well have painted herself into a corner and linked herself inextricably to that outmoded viewpoint.
