I agree, it is. Maybe I worded it wrong.

I mean the word 'accused' should not be in there. Its use in this context should be viewed as being as daft as someone being 'accused' of being straight.

I may seem overly fussy, but there is a strong link between language usuage and behaviour. So, although I doubt this thread was created with any overt homophobia in mind its title does (imho) reinforce, and indeed reflect, the subtle, ingrained homophobia that still exists even in western societies.

And therefore should be highlighted wherever possible.

I'm a bundle of laughs at parties too!

Well that is a actually a quandary in itself: the expectation of course, is that one will vehemently deny it, and denounce homosexuality - I really don't give a fuck - I have gay friends and family members, they don't make force me to have sex with them, or tell me who to fuck, or how, and all in all, of all groups or institutions, homosexual give the least amount of grief, so I'm inclined to be supportive - but if a rumor starts about you being gay, it puts a bit of a crimp in your sex life.

It's complicated, the fact that homosexuals are persecuted, means a lot of guys in the closet, often married - a bunch were arrested in the park in a sting operation a year or Two ago, caused quite a stir in this little town, lotta mortified women who had no idea their husbands were gay.

So on the one hand, it weeds out the narrow minded, but then one is in the position of seeking out fag hags, and then having to explain to them you're actually straight, lol.

The whole thing is fucking stupid, is really what it boils down to - i.e. homophobes are a much bigger pain in my ass than homosexuals have ever been, if they weren't so fucking hysterical, there would be no need for anybody to engage in deception, find beards, etc., it causes more problems that it's ever solved, and in fact, it is the problem.

Things have loosened up a bit under Obama, the repeal of DADT, etc, but that also means a backlash at some point, so far, it's been mild, but I suspect it'll heat up again around the next election.

I used to work with a chap who was quite effete, but was heterosexual. He had to beat the blart off with a shitty stick, so many were the girls looking to "show him that he wasn't gay". I used to rip on him for being misleading, but he just wailed "I tell em I'm straight, but they don't believe me!". Like he should care - he was getting more than most - much more :)

Yeah, I wish it worked that way around here, way too Narcissistic, all they care about is what the neighbors think. I even tell them that: "if you think I'm gay, the right thing to do would be to try and cure me, no"?

Thing is, deep down, I don't think they care either, the whole thing is political, the whole social conservatism shtick is just a ploy to get votes.

In fact, this is the whole crowd that redefined gay as anal sex rather than gender preference, it's straight out of the Westboro Baptist playbook.

Something like that, though I think it makes the woman gay too, I'm not really sure how that works, it really doesn't have to make sense, the town is small enough that they can make trouble for anybody they don't like and aren't personally acquainted with, that's all that matters.

This place made national news when they started a Gay/Straight Alliance club at a local High School, of which there are only Two - half the town turned up with pitchforks and torches - in the end they had to allow it or abolish all clubs, by Federal law.
