I know that the Bush hating liberals on here are having an orgasm over this but there will be no trial or extradition to Spain. Get over it..
No orgasm here either Servant, though to be truthful I don't consider my self a liberal, more like evolved and enlightened.

Pinochet wasnt extradited from the UK to Spain. He was held but released on health grounds.

(For posterity's sake, he has to feel good about that....better than being held on coffee grounds).

There was, however, a 16-month detention in the UK under house arrest between "held" and "released".  He didn't just spend an afternoon in Heathrow airport security.

But he wasnt extradited, which was all I said.

Actually it's not completely 'nothing' Lucy...two of the six are still unemployed (Gonzales and Addington), and I wouldn't be surprised if Yoo and Haynes get laid off if the warrants are issued. Bybee could be impeached..

"Under indictment for war crimes by a National Court" doesn't play too well on the ol' resume.  Maybe they could could work $10/hr construction jobs with Michael Vick? Fellow torturers and all that...

Im really trying Cagey to find  the tears to cry for them....but im as dry as a bone, employment (or lack of) issues should be the least of their problems.

We have an extradition treaty with Spain. I hope we honor our commitments.

Most probably, this won't happen, but I still hope the opprobrium alone constitutes a major fucking shag for the people concerned. Glad you posted the thread, Cagey :-) .

A suit brought by a lawyer who spent 8 years in jail for aiding terrorists...yeah thats going far.

Cagey18 -> RE: Bush's 'torture lawyers' facing arrest in Spain for war crimes? (4/11/2009 7:25:21 PM)

Uh, already has "gone far" CnU...it's before a Spanish judge equivalent to our Supreme Court.  Who brought the suit is irrelevant at this point. Why bring up the pointless?

no, its not equivalent to our Supreme Court, its equivalent to a Federal indictment

Again, BFD.  Extradition still applies.  Same effect on the six lawyer's resumes.  Same effect on their travel.

would you like to wager that its dropped in 6 months or less?  There is no basis for the suit under international law   The accused are no different than someone who writes a blog condoning terrorism that someone in a government happened to read. Its a farce brought by a radical looking for publicity.
