While pointing a gun in my face.

We should start a fan club for her or something. Everybody Paypal me a boatload of money for dues or whatever, and I'll get right on it.

Hopefully one in the distant future. There are few things I dislike more than arguing with people i really like, and I've locked horns wth both you and Kit in the last 48 hours. I've got to go find someone I really don't like, and argue with them for a day or two.

Trouble is, I can't think of anyone i really dislike.... goddamnit! Somebody insult me or something, will ya? So I can ease my conscience?

Forget it, trial's been canceled.

I sent a letter to the court threatening to bomb three trains, killing 191, and injuring over 2000.

They caved.

Not sure if I like the idea of Spain's court assuming the reign over another countries citizens.

And in breaking news, Spanish Judge Baltasar Garzon decides that BDSM'ers are depraved.

Surrender or face a lifetime of couch arrest whilst spinning the "Tonight From Dominos" wheel.

This post in no way sanctions what torture may or may not have occurred at Guantanamo.

No different than a US court issuing arrest warrants for Spanish citizens...*IF* they committed crimes upon American citizens.

Since Spanish citizens were detained at Guantanamo, the case has enough merit to go before a Spanish judge.

So how did Spanish citizens end up there?

Serious question.

Dunno, honestly.  Maybe they were in Iraq or Afghanistan.

I stumbled on a small paragraph related to such which stated they had
actually been indicted in Spain but their cases were dismissed after the
Spanish Supreme Court ruled that evidence obtained under torture
was not admissible, as the five had claimed they were subjected to.

Now my interest is peaked.

Did find it interesting that during the Inquisition, the Toca, or Tortura Del Agua,
that which we have come to know as waterboarding was much in use.

Wonder if they'll use it to get a confession?

Edited to add, apparently there are some Spaniards included in the ranks of al Qaeda.

Spains AG has regected any such probe of anyone in the Bush administration. This was all BS from the beginning.

Yeah if these guys are to be tried, and I hope they are,let an American court do it.After all it was our laws they twisted into a pretzel to suit their ends.

What Gonzales and co may or may not have done is irrelevant.  The only relevant point to all this is that a foreign government is arrogantly presuming upon itself to try our citizens – an authority it does not have.

Fuck them!

If they go through with this we should end all diplomatic contacts with Spain (withdraw our embassy, boot theirs out), cancel the visas of all Spanish citizens in the United States and deport them immediately, freeze all Spanish held accounts and cut off all trade with Spain until they drop their bullshit indictments and apologize for thinking they can usurp our sovereignty.

I don’t expect any of this to happen but it is what should happen.

Save all the “yeah buts…” they are all bullshit.

..oh come on. The US has been happily holding citizens from other countries without trial for years, pot-kettle-black. If it's ok for the US to apply it's justice system to citizens of other countries then it's ok for other countries to do the same to US citizens.
All countries have the right to try citizens of other countries if it perceives a crime against its own interests. Now this case appears to have fizzled out, but the idea that other countries have no right to try US citizens, without qualification, is utter rot.

It sounds like you are arguing for a tit for tat/they hit me first mommy kind of philosophy.  Interesting choice of words: interests and not national security.  Of course, all words can mean whatever the speaker wants them to mean.  Therein lies the catch.  Can the U.S. try Russian officials for the invasion of Georgia?  Can Canada try the citizens of another country because it decides that the other country’s trade policies are against their interests?  Where do we draw the lines?  Or should we not bother to think about the lines at all and simply decide on the basis of our general outlook, of our preconceived prejudices?

I hate Bush so fuck them!  I love Bush so fuck Spain!

Hello, What ever happened with Noreiga (spelling???); He is still in some US dungeon, long time, no trial, .....just forgotten. His country was invaded, he took prisoner, deported to US, locked in the slams...and??????

It is so funny to watch people obsess over the Bush administration.  No one is getting hauled before the Spaniards in leg irons.  Ain't going to happen.  You can fantasize about it, and you can expend more energy hoping against hope that Bush and company will all be wearing prison stripes soon.....but it's NOT going to happen.  If this wasn't such a pathetic attempt at veangence by Lefties it would be funny........wait, I take that back.......it's fucking hillarious.  [:D]
