Palin's speech underscores that she is very forthright, very honest. It also shows she's a person who, when tried and tempted, will make the right decisions.

I had just enough faith to know that my trying to change the circumstances wasn't any answer.

I was going to say I commend her honesty too i.e. in admitting to something she didn’t have to but since she only did so to demonise those that make the opposite choice (those not having enough faith) I’ll see it for what it is: political manipulation.

Well I can't get the little clapping smiley to come out and play.....but great post.This woman is a manipulative bitch who sees everything thru a political prism....for some to rush to her defence under the guise that this is a private matter...when she makes it public is a joke.

Yep don't that whole speech just remind you of that song: "For I was weak but now I'm strong."

But wants to outlaw that choice for everyone else.

Discuss...

What's to discuss?  She had her moment of doubt and indecision and fairly quickly came to the realization that it was not the way for her.

Ultimately, she chose the path she has followed all along...in her view, abortion is wrong, not just for others but for herself as well.  Tis a hell of a lot less hypocritical than Al Gore flying around on a private jet, living in a mansion, and traveling in an S.U.V. while telling the rest of us that the sky is falling and we have to reduce OUR carbon footprint.

The bolded bit, she doesn't have the right to try and enforce her beliefs on all women. She may feel it is wrong, but it is legal and it is a medically safe option. Just because she feels it is wrong for her doesn't make it wrong for me.

Now I do agree that her having the thought is natural given finding out that the fetus she was carrying showed problems. The thing is, she is using her decision to further her beliefs as part of a political agenda. There was no reason for her to bring it up except as a tool.

Many people find that reprehensible while others agree with her attempt to change what is right now a legal and viable procedure.

And in this case an overturned decision .You know that pesky little thing Roe vs.Wade I beleive.

I said your assertion was incorrect. You turning around and calling me ignorant doesn't change that. Not all liberals think pro-choice is the way to go. You may think they need to reexamine how they identify, but it really isn't any of your business.
Okay,now to make this really fun please point out where I called you ignorant.As far as whats my business...this is a public forum,I'll post in the way I choose ,on the subjects I choose as I like...thanks for your input.

sure, no problem

When is the coronation.....you seem to have a slight problem with those that disagree with you.You asked why some things are viewed as political...evidencing a complete lack of the history of this issue....is it my fault I took this ignorance in a literal fashion.Rereading your post it still seems has if you are asking a rediculous question in a completely serious manner.

Oh and if your going to call my post ridiculous, then at least spell the word right.

slvemike4u -> RE: Anti-choice Gov.Palin Considered Abortion For Herself (4/18/2009 12:46:37 PM)

Well what is really ridiculous is responding to a post that is not meant for you.Follow the bouncing ball boi,in post #46 Christine referred to me as "your highness...i responded in post #48 asking when the coronation would be(the post you just clipped),So perhaps you can a) keep looking for where I called you ignorant....or b)admit you made a mistake.
Care to guess which option I figure you'll take?

Criticize her politics all you want, but i think criticizing her for this is not right. It is too deeply personal.

Holly.... I totally agree with you.

I am pro-choice.

I went with a dear friend who had an abortion.  She later became born-again.  She is now (almost rabidly *sigh*) anti- choice.  It's something, because of our friendship, we have agreed to not discuss.

Do I see her as hypocritical?

No.

She made a choice at that time based on her convictions AT THAT POINT OF HER LIFE.
Her values changed.

I can respect it, while not agreeing with it.

Palin, as much as I detest her, made decisions based on her values. As much as I detest her, I can respect her PERSONAL DECISIONS.

It's her political crap that irks me....

thishereboi -> RE: Anti-choice Gov.Palin Considered Abortion For Herself (4/18/2009 12:57:33 PM)

Well according to the little note at the left side post 48 was in response to me. If you meant it for someone else, I appologize.

"Care to guess which option I figure you'll take? "

Well you would most likely say A....at least judging by the tone of most of your posts.

Now I have to ask...are you going to be willing to admit that your wrong about something?

slvemike4u -> RE: Anti-choice Gov.Palin Considered Abortion For Herself (4/18/2009 1:03:45 PM)

Unfortunately boi,there is really no problem there.....as I often screw up,I have learned how to readily admit it.....for instance my tone has been a little shitty....so I'll apologise for that.Flying off the handle seems to happen more frequently as I age.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Anti-choice Gov.Palin Considered Abortion For Herself (4/18/2009 4:55:37 PM)

Greedy... yeah. Nice that you respect HER choices... too bad she obviously doesn't feel you or any other woman in the US can be trusted to make choices for themselves.

GreedyTop -> RE: Anti-choice Gov.Palin Considered Abortion For Herself (4/18/2009 6:15:09 PM)

fortunately, MArs...  we have the ability to vote her opinion down :)
