Oh.....well I'm sure it sounded coherent in his head than......lol

housesub4you -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 3:25:25 PM)

Really???  I looked for your complaints and the only one making them was you.  Go figure..

Guess you realized you had nothing to stand on

Now to the thread....what really surprises me are all the GOP die hearts in all the other threads not touching this issue, they are strangely quiet......  And here they all defended she was they next president of this country because she was soooooooo smart....  I would go back and quote them, but they know who they are....

Still I believe she quit for a sweet TV deal, with FOX

So it's perfectly ok for her, and her family, to be viciously attacked in every personal way possible. Right. We got that. Caribou Barbie. Her daughters are sluts. Her infant is a 'tard she hauls out as prop.

Maybe ya'll are still having too much fun eating those cookies in bed to have noticed what you are going to have to sleep in....

and i dont care who said it, why it was said or who it was aimed at. its wrong.. on so damn many levels. you can all sit there on your chairs and spour the idea that she brought this upon herself... take a look in the mirror to see who is doing the heaping.

maybe when politics return to issues and not who is hotter this week, who has more medals last week, whose kids are cuter the following week or who can buy an election, the government just might stand a chance of regaining some honor. though, from what i have seen recently, that doesnt look like it stands a snowballs chance in hell.

It appears to me you looked a little too hard. That comment was made by TheHeretic who has been DEFENDING her in this thread. Ergo it's not really an attack, it's called sarcasm he was using to make a point.

So it appears you found out that the only 'attack' on her family was from a defender who was just making a point.

Good job. [sm=applause.gif]

I have been fortunate enough to meet both Sarah Palin and Hillary Clinton. I can tell you which one was a hillbilly and it wasn't Sarah. It was the hick from Arkansas...

I thought Palin still went by her first name Sarah? Did she start a rebranding campaign and now goes by S. Louise Palin? And, you know, AK stands for ALASKA, not Arkansas.

I think we need to be clear that people are talking about two different things in this thread. Heretic is asserting that there are widespread personal attacks being directed at her family members, that there are numerous people calling her daughters sluts and her son a "tard," and that this reflects negatively on the democratic party as a whole. And he's found some blogs that, in his view, support that assertion.

What the rest of us are saying is that the relatively few incidents he's been able to document are not sufficient to support his assertion that the democrats are systematically attacking her family. Most of us are not defending the few people who are insulting her children. We're simply saying there's a difference between discussing her family, in the context of her social positions, and attacking her family. Pointing out that her own family does not practice the moral code she preaches is not attacking her kids - it's pointing out her personal hypocrisy. She uses her family as an example of how children ought to be brought up, and we're pointing out that her example does not prove what she says it proves. How is that "attacking" her family?

Sheesh. Yeah, I see what you mean. Pretty sickening shit, no doubt about it.

But I've got to say, I still don't see how a few wacko, idiot bloggers can seriously be said to represent the entire democratic party. As other posters have pointed out, trying to compare this to the orchestrated personal attacks carried out by McCain's campaign against Obama doesn't even come close to working. There's just no logical comparison. Sorry, but I still just can't agree with your point on this one.

And yeah, by the way, I did have a happy 4th. Thank you! Quite probably the best 4th of July I've ever had. I just hope yours was half as wonderful as mine!

Actually it was one blog, plus another site that the most cursory examination reveals not to be making fun of Trig at all.  TH, in his rabid desire to prove his point after the fact, appears to have searched on "tard", and found a website containing that word.  Had he actually examined the link he sent, he might have discovered that it makes fun of Palin, not Trig.

And has been pointed out, one obscure blog and a cartoonish site hardly reflect on the Democratic party as a whole.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 5:25:26 PM)

Yeah, funny how quiet the GOP talking heads have been about this... (granted, it IS the holiday weekend) but it seems odd to me that FOX hasn't said much beyond getting Karl Rove to say "she really stepped in it this time!"

It's like Limbaugh's not commenting on Michael Jackson's death... funny, why would he avoid talking about MJ's doctor shopping for oxy contin?

Take it as you will, Panda.  I think it reflects, at least in public perception.

Glad you had a wonderful 4th.

housesub4you -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 8:25:04 PM)

That is a far reach, a few bloggers and you state they speak for all Dems???  Not even with Bush did anyone reach that far, why that is like saying Rush IS in charge of the GOP, because a blogger said it is so

I really don't think that it does. Most of the public knows that every politician gets beat up in the blogosphere. Frankly, I think that most don't pay attention to actual news and don't have any idea what's going on in the blogosphere. I first heard about all of the Palin rumors was from the McCain/Palin campaign bringing them up - I read a lot of news, but I don't follow any blogs, read opinion pages only on occasion and rarely read the online comments sections.

Sarah Palin hasn't been treated worse than anyone else by the media or blogosphere, she has just complained about mistreatment louder and longer than anyone else has. Temperamentally, she reminds me a lot of Jesse Ventura.

Strange sense of humor you got there Rich....MmeGigs said nothing funny at all....and I know funny.Palin got treated in the same fashion as those who went before her.Should she have been handled with kid gloves due to her gender? The fact she's a mother?
Or perhaps she should have been given a break...just because she's stupid and uninformed?

And that means she's proof that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Because from day one, I've said she's about as unattractive as can be. (I'm one of those "weird" guys who deducts serious "pretty points" when a ditz opens her mouth.)

August 2008, SP to Hillary Clinton regarding the media "No Whining":
quote:

Fair or unfair, I think she does herself a disservice to even mention it. You gotta to plow through that. You have to know what you're getting into -- which, I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton, and to her experience and to her passion for changing the status quo also -- but when I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or you know maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think, 'man that doesn't do us any good' -- women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country, I don't think it bodes well for her, a statement like that. Because, again, fair or unfair, it is there, I think that's reality, and I think it's a given. I think people can just accept that she is going to be under the sharper microscope. So be it. I mean, work harder, prove yourself to an even greater degree that you're capable, that you're going to be the best candidate, and that of course is what she wants us to believe at this point. So it bothers me a little bit hearing her bring that attention to herself on that level.
