Will the Republicans have anyone to run in 2012.....?
At the rate their going it could be McCain - Obama II.....perhaps this time McCain and his people will find an actual running mate for the bottom of the ticket.

tazzygirl -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/4/2009 8:24:51 AM)

Here is a thought. As with the last election, they (GOP) dont want to win this one either. Can anyone realy think the financial mess we are in will be fixed by then? Palin on a ticket will almost certainly guarentee a loss. What better way to NOT have to deal with a mess they created.

MarsBonfire -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/4/2009 8:39:54 AM)

Admittedly, the notion that the GOP is playing to lose does explain a few things, doesn't it? Spend eight years dragging the US into hell, and then step aside and let the Dems clean up the mess.... (sort of like a recalcitrant teenager trashing the house with a party, and expecting his long suffering Mom to clean up after him and his drugged-out, date raping friends.)

There is still a useful function for Sarah in the restoration of conservative governance.  She can stand as a testament to the true character of the Democrat Party as it exists today....

DedicatedDom40 -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/4/2009 10:47:34 AM)

Top Ten Reasons Sarah Palin Quit.....

10. Wants to go hiking the Appalachian Trail.

9. This is not a retreat. It is an advance in the direction opposite to forward.

8. Wants to be appointed Ambassador to Africa. She still thinks it is a country.

7. Will be appearing on Wife Swap, with Jenny Sanford.

6. Michelle Bachmann was getting too much attention for being batshit crazy.

5. She wants to sell the job on Ebay.

4. Palin is the sole beneficiary in newly found Michael Jackson will.

3. The heat was being turned up on her fancy igloo.

2.  LookieNoNookie thinks she is hot and is her only supporter...

And the number one reason why Sarah Palin quit as Governor of Alaska:

1. Rush told her to.

What is your reasoning on this, Rich? The woman is a petty, lying, mean-spirited, ignorant ideologue with no sense of ethics, and as a creationist who believes the world is only 6,000 years old, is unquestionably either mentally ill or developmentally disabled, if not both - and the fact that democrats are outraged that your party believes she is one of the best qualified people in the country to be president is somehow  a negative reflection on democrats?  That's nothing short of incredible.

TheHeretic -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/4/2009 12:11:44 PM)

So it's perfectly ok for her, and her family, to be viciously attacked in every personal way possible.  Right.  We got that.  Caribou Barbie.  Her daughters are sluts.  Her infant is a 'tard she hauls out as prop.

Maybe ya'll are still having too much fun eating those cookies in bed to have noticed what you are going to have to sleep in....

I wasn't aware that the democratic party is on the record as saying that her daughters are sluts or that her son is a "tard." If they were on record with those positions, then I'd be the first to agree with you. Since they're not, I don't see your point at all.

She's a politician.  It's not a pretty business.  She couldn't stand the heat

If she couldn't handle that how do you think she would have handled the Vice-Presidency, and, God forbid, the Presidency?

Really, Panda???  What happened to the principles that made McCain personally responsible when you were looking at a similar situation from a different angle?

I fully agree that that's what happened, but McCain was still entirely responsible for it, even if it wasn't his idea. He was the one who was supposedly in charge of his campaign.

Are you suggesting that I need to charge personal guilt against President Obama for all these remarks?

Or did all the guiding principles you were working from change when the party did?

ThatDamnedPanda -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/4/2009 12:45:26 PM)

What on earth are you talking about? I have no clue what you're trying to say, and I see no similarity whatsoever. Because I hold John McCain responsible for what Sarah Palin said while campaigning on behalf of McCain, Barak Obama should be held responsible for what David Letterman says on his TV show? I have absolutely no idea what comparison you're trying to make here, Rich, let alone what point you're trying to make with that  comparison.

As far as i am concerned, her family is off limits.. unless they are adults. and even then it depends on the actions.

her family had nothing to do with charging victims for rape kits... while she was mayor. they had nothing to do with her lack of knoweledge while on the campaign trail... they had nothing to do with the incompetent ways she handled herself.

Can you imagine the lack of respect she would recieve from other countries as our Vice.. and.. god help us.. as Pres?

TheHeretic -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/4/2009 12:57:48 PM)

Can't see it all, huh?  Maybe it is like one of those Salvador Dali works where you have to step back and turn your head a little?  Keep looking.  It's there.

You are willing to place the blame for every word on one side, including what people in a crowd called out, on McCain personally, but deny that the filth that was pointed at Sarah by some rabid Dems will reflect badly on the Party at large...

Maybe tilt your head right and squint a little?

Could you provide a link to someone calling her daughters sluts or her son a tard?

This is part of Heretic's ongoing claims that the Democratic party says and does worse things than the GOP does to them. I've called him on it on previous occasions and never gotten a useful response.

tazzygirl -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/4/2009 1:09:00 PM)

a better argument would be that she can stand on her own moral ground against the attacks from any party... yet... still echoing in the background is the fact that a woman... among so many OTHER things, allowed other women to be charged for investigating crimes committed against them.

i am still waiting for someone to explain to me how such a person would be best suited in any office.

I wouldn't say the States is.

But just like the right has become increasingly desperate and their drones who are still in denial that the right hasn't produced a single competent leader in decades.

The right is also on the verge of intellectual bankrupcy.

Really Rich...explain how this creation of McCain's failed campaign can serve as a testament to anything at all with The Democratic Party.

Actually, it's not. Holding McCain responsible for what Palin says makes sense....she's HIS running mate. It's HIS campaign.

However holding Obama responsible for what David Letterman says is just silly. The appropriate comparrison would be holding Obama responsible for what Biden said. And from what I recall, people did. Every time Biden said something stupid during the race, people looked at Obama for explanation.
