"First off, "boyo" there is a little button that says "quote" you can click so you don't have to draw your own quotation marks. "

No, I bother to quote because I'm not lazy enough to depend on software, rely on other people to vote for me, decide whom I should vote for or (unlike Heretic, see compliment to him below) spinelessly evade fair questions.

If I did what you suggest I'd be as lazy as someone who tries to gain an upperhand by blathering about typos rather than making any forrm of counterpoint at all.

"because we know it blocks any hope of a presidential campaign for her. "

yet you're happy to have anyone as loopy and corrupt as her get to the starting gate of the campaign race next time as long as they don't REVEAL their fuck-ups until they get into office, huh?

Keep digging, man, you're only at 5.6 feet, you have 5 inches to go.

And HERETIC just showed YOUR sorry lazy-ass butt up.  He put in a SLIGHT effort, and gave a REAL answer.  with a REAL reason for it.  Partisan Pussy-ass Bullshit aside, Heretic BOTHERED.

Using subtle subtext for The Star Chamber and the need to avoid it, I might add  (doffs chapeau and bows to Heretic and offers Heretic a gentlemanly drink on my dime).

/standing ovation for Heretic

Spinelessly evade fair questions? LoL. You're grossly mis-informed. Like you are about a lot of things. A fair question is asked to the entire thread. You singled out "TheHeretic" and myself among 7 pages of other posters. That is a thread hijack. This thread is about Palin's resignation, plain and simple. If you're going to ask an irrelevant question about testing or whatever and hijack the thread, the least you could do is ask everyone, not just two people. If you don't want to do that, I suggest you start your own thread.

You know zero about me. And the laziness of clicking a button is totally irrelevant. You see....you had to click "reply" to post, did you not? "Quote" is right next to "reply" so you're really just spouting off aimlessly about laziness.

And I don't rely on others to vote for me, I voted myself. And I'm very proud of who I voted for and the historical significance *he* represents for this country.

As it's been pointed out before, what you did wasn't a typo. It was plainly and simply not knowing the difference between "through" and "throw." Hardly a typo.

Furthermore, why would I want to counterpoint your original sentiment? You need lessons in reading comprehension. I dislike the bimbo as much as you do and said as much. I simply pointed out that if you were going to poke fun at a "brainless bimbo" then you should know which word to use as it looks bad for our side if you do not.

And I was never "happy" to even have her in the race. As a matter of fact, the day I heard her announced as a running mate for McCain, I had two reactions. The first was "WTF?" The second was "Yay.....my guy has already won the election now!" And that's exactly what happened.

So please, in the future, if you're going to keep asking irrelevant questions. Please either ask them to the whole thread, or start your own thread to ask them. Either way, if you choose to single someone out and talk shit about things you have no clue about....at least try and make sure you know their position before you try to bash it.

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 1:01:45 AM)

great post except for the fact that your definition of "irrelevant" has yet to become der riguer.  or apply to the thread as a whole.  Your rant kinda depends on that.

and I don't need to know you.

Actually, yours does. When you ask a question in a thread (especially when you only ask it to two people) you really need to be sure it is relevant to the thread. If it's not, (as in your case) people don't feel they need to answer it.

You do when you are going to try and bash my position without even really knowing it. You've spent what....how many posts now trying to make me the bad guy when I am, in fact GLAD that she resigned and that it will prevent her candidacy for president.

Now you're just sounding silly. You've realized you're attacking the wrong person and you're trying to gracefully bow out. It's not going to  work. Sorry.

The first 'post-resignation speech' sighting of Palin.

http://www.adn.com/sarah-palin/v-gallery/story/853469.html?/sarah-palin/v-enlarge/story/853469-a853818-t3.html

Mama and daughter, both wearing head caps, with their respective babies side by side in a dually stroller while daddy/grandpa looks on.  Thats a scene fit for the finest trailer park in Alaska.

First... i am far from a palin supporter, in fact, i pity the woman.

second.. leave the family out of it.. she signed up for this.. not the kids.

third.. attack her political views and public screw-ups. i happen to, god help me, admire the way she has stuck up for, and by, her daughter through all this.

palin gives us enough to pity her over on just public, political faus pax's alone.

man, this is quite a shocker. I wonder if they have something "big" on her.
this could get interesting.

Nope.  If they did, they would release the info.  Withholding evidence is a crime.

Not if it's a current investigation.  Evidence only need be released after charges are brought (and then only to the defense lawyers, not to the general public).

ThatDaveGuy69 -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 6:07:56 AM)

I think that there is a point at which the family, or at least parts of it, become fair game.

Sarah's "tard" kid, a Downs Syndrome child, should have been completely off-limts.  And he was, right up to the point she brought the poor little guy out on-stage with a thousands of cheering people and flashing lights.  He should have been home in bed.  Her cred ibility as a concerned parent would have soared if she at simply said it was past his bedtime and he was at home with a sitter.

Sarah's older daughter should have been off limits.  And she was, right up to the point where we all learned how well "abstinance only" worked for her.  At that point she becaome another of Palin's failed policies.

For the most part, family members are not routinely ripped on.  That is until they, or the politician, do something really stupid to bring them into the spotlight.  Chelsea Clinton was kept out of the spotlight and I don't remember her embarrassing her parents.  The Bush twins only made the headlines when one of them got caught (underage) drinking.

On the other hand, Dick Chaney's daughter -an out lesbian- was often a problem as her lifestyle was completely at odds with Bush's policies.

Remember Billy Carter and "Billy Beer"?  'nuf said on that...

Family is a funny thing in politics.  It can hurt, help, embarass, sustain, and even take the blame.  And while they may not have signed up for the ride, their being viewed as media targets generally depends on how willing they are to go along (age not withstanding), how much the politician attempts to exploit them, and how many embarrassing moments they cause.

Personally, I don't ever want to see another under-age child of a politician on stage for anything other than a victory celebration, and even then it should be for only the briefest of moments.

Adult family members are one thing. They screw up, its public fodder.

when a child screws up, its bad enough all on its own. why drag minors through the mud? comments were made about the bush twins... no one went on and on and on. palin is stupid, we all agree on that topic.. and not very protective of her family, it seems. take her to task over that. the poor kids have enough to overcome. imagine being her child after all this.

I have to echo Obama on this one...

quote:

Sen. Barack Obama said firmly that families are off-limits in the campaign for president, reacting to news that GOP running mate Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

"Let me be as clear as possible," Obama said. "I think people's families are off-limits, and people's children are especially off-limits. This shouldn't be part of our politics. It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor or her potential performance as a vice president."

Obama said reporters should "back off these kinds of stories" and noted that he was born to an 18-year-old mother.

"How a family deals with issues and teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics, and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that's off-limits."

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/01/obama.palin/index.html

maybe its time we returned to classing up politics again. for me... minors are off limits.

Bullshit.

She USED the kids to further her soccer mom agenda.  Fair game.

And her kids own action are not in step with what the political figure preaches.

ever tried to get a teenager to do exactly as they were told? JUST because johhny doesnt do as daddy said, doesnt mean daddy didnt mean WHAT he said.

and, by your explanation we should all crawl down into the gutter with her. yeah, lets beat up on a kid with downs syndrome.. to prove a point that mom is an idiot, when we already know she is an idiot.

DedicatedDom40 -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 7:30:33 AM)

I think when Johnny doesnt do what politician Daddy said, politician Daddy has no case to preach his views to a nation.

He is preaching to a nation.  The actions of Johnny are very relevant, and are not "off limits".

DemonKia -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 7:31:36 AM)

FR, after read thru

Absolutely agree that all the under-18s are off-limits. & even the over-18s, if they choose to stay out of the public eye. However, Bristol Palin has not chosen that route . . . . .

Bristol Palin, choosing to be a public figure.

From the above link: "The network interview was Bristol's idea, the teen said. And she apparently sprung the news to her parents that she was going to speak publicly the day before the network taping."

& Bristol Palin, abstinence ambassador

From the second link: "...I just want to go out there and promote abstinence..."

It's a well-established standard that entering into the public eye makes one fair game for observation, comment, parody, & etc . . . . . . All encompassing privacy is for those who stay out of the limelight, like it or not . . .. . . . Sorta like posting to message forums: don't wanna let others attack ones stated beliefs / opinions / etc? Don't post to a message fora. Don't wanna be the subject of jokes, hostile published opinions, & such like? Don't seek out publicity . . .. . . .

& note that this putting of herself in the public eye ostensibly has nothing to do with her mother's political campaigning, this is a public role that Bristol is seeking out all on her own . . .. .

The above is taken from a posting I made to the "America's favorite drama queen in the news again " thread.

"Now you're just sounding silly. You've realized you're attacking the wrong person and you're trying to gracefully bow out. It's not going to  work. Sorry. "

Now even perfectly typed, and with perfect grammar, that's just plain DUMB.  I never said anything graceful in ANY thread in this section of the boards, ONCE, never asked anyone else to.  If you want to failingly put words into my mouth or present me in any light (of your choice), at LEAST make it believable, pard.

any yeah, you're glad SHE isn't in the white house.

nobody LIKE her should ever be allowed to even get close. and if they had to undergo diagnostics, they wouldn't.

Secondly, I don't need to paint you as a bad guy, pardo.  you LOVE playing the bad guy role all by yourself,  proven in the "shirtless guys should be illegal" thread which was about MEN, and which you then brought  down to another " Guy who loathes Fat Chicks" thread.

So YOU whinging about relevance is like the South Carolina gentleman in the news bitching if his wife pulls a foursome behind his back.

tazzygirl -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 7:58:02 AM)

DemonKia

i agree. you have made a valid argument. if, when over 18, you decide to stay out of the limelight... then out you should be... she has not... she is showing herself to either be a hypocrit that no other teen will take as serious.. or she has seen the "light".. uh huh.. seen that before. if she keeps stepping into the light... a sitting "deer" comes to mind.

thats why when i heard about the joke on David Letterman, and i found out it was the minor daughter with mom and not bristol, i got upset... not at the host who made the joke, but his fact finders who obviously did not clue him in on who was with mom that weekend.

what do i think Palin failed at in that instant? by making a huge deal over the whole issue, instead of making one soft, concise statement about how she doubted her daughter, at 14, was knocked up by anyone. and left it at that.

HatesParisHilton -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 8:26:38 AM)

btw, in case anyone thinks otherwise, when I made reference to Palin's kin, I was only thinking of her co-progenitor and the dumb-ass mouth breather boyfriend of her daughter (THAT was the dimwit I had in mind when I use the term "tardo", since when your girl friend has a wackjob narcisstic Borderline Bridge to Nowhere maker who kills careers for guys she doesn't like for a mother, and that mother is also a Fundamentalist CREATIONIST who digs guns, and you don't wear a fucking CONDOM when you boink HER daughter?  You are a FUCKING TARD).

The girls and the poor little Downs child have nothing but my sympathies.

for the family they've been born into.

That's kind of the point though isn't it?

Her mother promoted a political position of abstinence-only sex education for teens and it didn't even work with the family of one of the primary spokespersons for the cause.

I don't remember anyone attacking her daughter for getting pregnant, only pointing out the fallacy of promoting abstinence as a policy.

tazzygirl -> RE: Palin to resign as governor (7/5/2009 8:46:07 AM)

the media was in an uproar over the whole incident. it was mom's agenda... obviously it was not the kids. how many times have kids lied to dear ole mom and dad. the fact that palin actually asked her daughter if she wanted to keep the baby or not... then kept pushing her own agenda aganst abortion... is not bristol's fault. the kid ended up in the middle of a hurricane. one her own mother didnt know was brewing until it was just off shore.

but, dont blame the kid for being a kid. blame the mom for being not a quite bright mom.

if the kid turns out to be a crack dealer in the local high school... then.. all gloves are off. and mom and dad are obviously too clueless about their own homes to run a government of any kind.

kids getting pregnant... that isnt clueless... its just being kids... and parents being parents.
