ORIGINAL: Loric Now, I dunno...but that sounds pretty racist to Me...and I know that not all black people are like this, but there are quite a few that I've run into in My life...does it bother Me? Not really...because I know that blacks aren't the only ones to have suffered slavery in this country, yeah, they prettied it up and called it indentured servitude, but it was still slavery...only the people holding those contracts weren't obligated to provide for the well being of the contractee...*shrugs* My point with all this is simple, as My Grandfather once told Me "Learn from the past, don't live in it." Wise words from a wise Man. And if anyone is wondering, no, My Grandfather wasn't what you might call white...he was Sicilian...and suffered quite a bit of ethnic slurs in this country when he first came here in the early 20's including being called a "fucking dago wap". In the words of another, equally wise Man...Stan Lee... " 'Nuff said." No shit? Your grandfather suffered ethnic slurs? Was he beaten, chained, and hauled to a distant country to be used as a slave? As for your first point, to try to say indentured servitude was equivalent to slavery is a willful disregard of history. My history had a great uncle who immigrated to the steel town in NE Ohio. Seems the poor 6' white (er.. Caucasion-European) committed suicide by hanging himself in a 5' high basement with stab wounds in his back. We survived... and all with no reparations.. no apologies.
