Please notice that later on I did expand on this. To further clarify, under protection is more of accepting some level of care or responsibility for the well being of a submissive. How it plays out varies. Under consideration, yes, more of a courting thing. Frankly, I just don't use the labels. I know the stage of my own relationship. If anyone asks, I can explain it succinctly without resorting to such titles. If I were pressed to fit it into one of these little boxes, ill fitting as it would be, it would be under consideration. Although, I will say I feel wonderfully under his protection at all times, especially when we are together.

I just don't see getting all bent out of shape over a label.

Now that is concise!

CP

Yeah I was in an economical mood.

To elaborate just a bit, I've found that this (like so much else) means so many different things to so many people... worrying about it just isn't worth the bother.  I don't care if a submissive is under consideration, under protection, unowned, or what have you... I approach them all pretty much the same way... "Hi, how are ya?" an then get to know them.  I find out what their circumstances are from them and treat that accordingly.

If it turns out she's slapped under protection or under consideration or lesbian on her profile just to put off some of the trolls... well... how I respond will be quite a bit different than if she tells me she's met the most dreamy dom an she really fancies him.

So like I said... what does the label itself mean to me.... not much. [image]http://www.collarchat.com/image/s3.gif[/image]

I have a Guardian Tulip. How is that for a label (i must sound insane)?

Padriag -> RE: Under Protection???????? (8/1/2009 10:41:50 PM)

Makes about as much sense as anything else I've seen.

I am here to announce that I have placed the package of Oreos residing in my kitchen "under protection", until later today, when I'll certainly place them "under consideration", along with a glass of milk.

What happens next is not for the faint of heart.

I've used it a few times.  It's handy when bringing a newcomer to a BDSM event.  It's an assurance that they won't be bothered much, and that they'll have a ready reply to those who bug them.

DS,

Would not them saying that their with DarkSteven serve just as well? But to each their own.

It apparently doesnt mean a whole hell of alot.  I just recently had someone who claimed in their profile to be under the consideration of another dominant contact me.

Consideration?? That is another ass chapper for me!

Lastly, a situation I've never seen (But have no doubt exists). A D/s couple in which the s-type is free to do as they please, but cared for, trained, protected by a dominant. This is actually a huge fantasy of mine. I love the idea of having a kitten farm full of little s-types who stem from security I can provide. It would be a dream come true for me. I don't have the means, but the idea of being the stone for girls (particularly troubled ones) intrigues me greatly. It's a daddy dom thing, I think - but I digress...

Well lad work hard and be lucky and you too may also keep a harem of needy fems; that being said, good look at the opposite side of the discussion.

What if DarkSteven desires his private affairs remain that way instead of making the submissive a target for any people who wish to do ill to him? Just sayin! There's a lot of of ways to show you care. [;)]

brattylilqueer -> RE: Under Protection???????? (8/2/2009 6:05:48 PM)

Under protection for me means that this person is going to mentor me and help me understand some things that I don't know WHILE protecting me from all the people in the community who like to play grab ass like every submissive is some walking pussy.

So many people in the local communities use munches as a live meat market. If I wear the collar of the person who I am under protection with, it makes those prowlers pass me over and I get to focus on learning about the lifestyle as opposed to having to shake someone off my leg.

Its an average Saturday night 11pm. The pub is heaving and everyone a little worse for wear, I shimmy along the dance floor in my most happening glad rags and some drunk blundering oaf grabs my ass, quick as a flash I spin around and point to a piece of jewelery around my neck 'I am under protection don't you know'

oh no wait that isn't what happens, the oaf grabs my ass, I spin around give him a whithering look and tell him to fuck off, he does, and that is when I realised that my own balls are better than the borrowed ones.

General

Under protection means sweet FA to me, just a silly term people get caught up in akin to saying you are 'seeing' each other when you are a teenager trying to be down with it.

There's a difference.

Saying that she's "with" me means that the two of us have a relationship.  That'll make it devilish hard for me to chase women.

Saying that she's under my protection means that anyone wishing to make a move on her has to check with me first.  If she's looking and he seems like a good match, I'll give it my blessing.  It simply discourages those who want to make a fast move on a newbie.

I can't get past associating it with those Castle Realm people in the mid- to late 90s; they were always popping into IRC chatrooms and warning people, "Be aware that the lady you are talking to there is under the protection of such-and-such Knight of Castle Dragonskeep" or some such silliness, as though that was supposed to have some meaning to everyone. I've never been able to take the term seriously since then.

ROFL! Thanks for a memory I didn't need to remember!

I see how useful this phrase/annocument is in certain real life situations. But online it often seems suspect and game-like. It could be genuine in some cases (in fact I know one very happily owned submissive who was helped by something very similar to this), but in most cases it seems to be some sort of weird cock-blocking revenge thing...by both the sub and the dom.

It would be funny if some dominant posted that on his profile about himself and his proclaimed "protector" was a very meek-looking submissive.

In the world of the internet silliness, it means that some wanker convinced some bimbo that she is too incompetent to hit the "delete" key when faced with unwanted communication.

DING, DING, DING... WINNER!!!  Most accurate definition!!! [sm=agree.gif]

Opalescence -> RE: Under Protection???????? (8/2/2009 8:57:55 PM)

Since us submissive types are completely helpless and incapable of making adult decisions, we need protectors. The Domly Board of Awesomeness (TDBA for short)
gathered together and decided to grant us each with a special gift, our very own fairy DomMother (mother is used loosely, it can mean either male or female)! Aren't we lucky?

LOLThis is the product of Rockstar and mind numbingly boring homework.

Absolutely nothing. However as to what it means to the people who use it, well I guess you'd have to ask them.

Arpig,

Well there have been a few supporters of the concept, but I do agree with your take.
