I agree with dan997.

Hell, how about we compromise, and change the ad to, "You can do good with god as much as you can do good without god."

That way, everyone's happy.

I wouldn't be happy.

Oh...shit. Did I just ruin the the matchstick house?

Not indicative of anything, however, tazzy.

18 % of Americans believe the world is flat; 19% don't know from whom the U.S. won independence, with another 5% giving incorrect answers.

Emily Dickinson was correct--common belief is a poor measure of validity.

I know I don't have to remind someone of your ideological enthusiasms how fervently Communists have advanced atheism as a key component of population control.

Yes, you do need to remind us.  Do you have a few(5-10) references to support this claim?

Read a book.

There's more than one, you know.

Choose one on logic. The converse of a statement does not automatically follow.

All American Kennel Club members are dog owners. That doesn't mean all dog owners are American Kennel Club owners.

So too, atheists come from all political and economic persuasions.

I think those commies wore uniforms too...

LOL?

I have never been aware of any claim which suggested how "fervently Communists have advanced atheism as a key component of population control."

So, I was and still am interested in learning more.  I assume you have no references so which books do you suggest I read?

Actually to be fair Esinn that is true. Religion was always strongly frowned upon especially in communist russia and later the Soviet union as it diverted feelings of devotion from the state and the party. It was deemed better to believe in the party than anything else and they did quite a lot to dismantle organised religion in their sphere of influence.

It's the "therefore atheists are communists" part that doesn't follow.

That's cuz no one advanced any such argument.  Someone's craving the taste of a red herring.

Honestly, you cannot be serious.  Start with Marx, Engels, and Lenin, and just keep reading.  I'm not doing your high school homework for you.

Too wishy-washy for my liking.

I'd prefer: "God hates you.....each and every one of you".

If you're going to do it - then do it properly.

Hey now Mr.hot-shot, no one asked you. If you go back to read it's comments and the link it provided us with:

It seems obvious to me it did not desire to make the same point you did.

I might be mistaken.  However, I did give it the opportunity to clarify.

Dosen't matter that no one asked me Esinn like you say i'm a hotshot so I choose where to stick my tuppence worth. I'm only pointing out that communism has promoted atheism as a tool with which to exert greater control of the people.

I do agree everything any theist has ever told me about the thing which they call god clearly demonstrates it hates us.  The fact our bodies, planet and universe often act contrary to our happiness and are designed so poorly....  I do agree God hates us.

However, the fact that god hates humans is no reason to believe it is a necessity for our goodness.
