No, I'm not asking about activities involving staplers or rivets. I'm just wondering - which kinks are the most crucial? Re dommes - it looks to me like the one thing that most seem to demand as a minimum is bondage. I don't think I've read of a sub who sees that as a hard limit - but there may well be some. What about anal, whipping . . . . Which of all the playtime activities do you feel you just couldn't do without? And for subs - the same question. OK, you may well feel that 'so long as She's happy, I'm happy' - but is there something that's as near as damnit a 'must' - and after many play-sessions it would rankle if you didn't get it? I have one, small thing, that I love to do. I know some vanilla women, so presumably dommes, too, may not like it. I could probably do without it if she didn't want it. And then again, that 'biggest joy' of mine might change, to be replaced by something else. (I've picked up an awful lot of different kink-desires since I've been here. Thank you, everyone.) But I'm still not 100% sure I could do without my oldest favourite . . .

Well, here I am to burst your bubble. Personally, I couldn't care less about bondage. It's so far down on My list that it isn't worth mentioning. To Me, it's nothing more than a means to an end. Sure, rope work is pretty to look at and all of that, but it really doesn't do anything for Me. I'm just as happy having someone put on a set of leather restraints or better yet making them stay where I've put them. At the top of My must have list is (big shock) protocol. I know that's not necessarily a playtime only activity, but since some will say that is a kink, I'm putting that first. (I don't want the debate over whether it's a kink or not to derail the thread.) The other would be poly. Specifically for play, there isn't one singular activity that I can't live without, as long as it's S/m in some way. I have a lot of interests and I can match up easily with anyone who either enjoys pain or wants to endure it. If someone doesn't like canes, that's fine. We'll do flogging. Needles are a problem? No issue. That person might be fun for role playing. If someone doesn't like electricity, maybe that person is a good candidate for cupping instead. I can always find another bottom for an activity that's on My sub's hard limit list. It's one of the advantages of being poly. [;)] Btw, what have you got against staples?

Obviously I'm deeply thrown and disorientated about protocol being important to you. But I was half-waiting for you to come on and say "Actually, staples are now my staples" [;)] I'm surprised about bondage being so far down on your list. But, then, restraints are there. I'd have thought 'restraints' would be pretty high up on most dommes' lists. As for cupping, I shall have to look that up. On a side note: I'm beginning to wonder if others are like me - they have something they love to do, but are embarrassed to mention it despite the fact that they know most people here would find it pretty ordinary . . .

~FR~ I must have power exchange. I must be the leader in the relationship, and there must be some form of ritual or protocol involved. There must be an outlet for My sadism. Even if it's just using teeth and nails during aggressive sex, I must be able to hurt. Honestly, that's about it. It would be a struggle for Me to put down the impact toys. I'd shed a tear when putting away the needles. But as long as I am, in some way, able to express the core of who I am, it doesn't much matter to Me how I do it.

Oh bloody cosmic skillets -- I could have written this near word for word!! In any case, I'd bet I have less interest than even LP in bondage. I might think about it if one of my servants really clung to it (or more likely SR would - She sort of likes bondage.)But again, like LP, one thing I absolutely adore beyond any sense of reason is protocol. The only other one that comes close is service... and not just 'suffering in silence' service, but a servant who really gets a kick out of giving it all xhe's got. I can find play partners, servants, and even some excellent bottoms for the stuff like needle play that a lot of folks squick at, and if I -really- need a blood, needle, and/or cutting fix, I can either do myself or visit my body-mod-oriented friends and do or get some blood-work done there. It also rocks big time that my daughter both tattoos and pierces, so there really is no shortage of opportunities for my fave kinks, whether I can cover them in the BDSM community or not. The only things that I -can't- get my fix for are protocol and service, and frankly, if I got nothing else, those would keep me happy for years and years and years. Dame Calla

Sometimes I've thought that my main kink isn't a particular physical act at all. It's a symbolic thing - the key that, to date, has most quickly got me into a state of D/s arousal. One of the reasons I don't like revealing it because I still hold out for the main prize - that of her 'demanding' that I do it, without my having the merest thought of 'Nah, she's only pretending to demand it because she knows I like it'. Again, not very rational: should she make that demand once, she'll forever after know what effect it has on me, and I'll know that she knows. Still, presumably, she'll convince me in the end that she is actually doing what she wants to do and not what I want her to do.

But again, like LP, one thing I absolutely adore beyond any sense of reason is protocol. That's interesting. In a sense not surprising, though - because words, rituals, certain formalities - they're powerful things. I think I've noticed that a lot of subs do like titles and honorifics. I do. No reason why the word 'Ma'am' should drive me into a frenzy, but it does. I'd like to use it with a woman who doesn't respond with an alarmed look on her face, though.
