I have considered an aquarium and wondered how Viktor would deal with it. I suspect it would keep his attention all day, which would be awesome. Either that, or it would stress him out. Maybe I should try a fish bowl first lol.

Right now he's very clingy, after I've been away for three nights. As I type this (on my laptop in my recliner), he is lying across my chest, purring.

Your cat will LOVE LOVE LOVE an aquarium filled with colorful fish. Our cat spends hours watching our tiny, fast-moving guppies.
Guppies are tropical fish and have to be kept at a warm room temperature. Lower tank and feeding maintenance.
We use pure mineral spring water in our 10-gallon tank instead of treating tap water.
Do not leave the fish food out because it will attract your cat if you have one who likes seafood, and he could try to eat it or else knock the containers around the floor, and swat them under furniture where you can't find where the heck they disappeared.
Cats will stick their paws into the water filter opening by the lid, so make sure you put a small plastic guard over it.

We call our cat Suzie an Egyptian Mau temple guard kitty because she likes to patrol our farmette. Right now there is a groundhog who is her nemesis.

My cats loved the aquarium I had......they liked to hang out under it for any fish committing suicide.....I lost a red tailed shark and a beta like that. It was completely hooded with two holes for the heater and filter, and apparently, they jumped or were chased out of the tank. I found their cat hair covered bodies on the floor. They didn't get eaten, but I'm sure as they were flopping around, they caught the attention of my cats. And anything on the floor was fair game for play.

She's yelling at me, and attacking the wine rack because we are out of treats.

What a skank.

Oh, and the rotten Bitty came home after his stroll....none the less for wear. They are still tying to sneak out on me, but Bitty just pops out and back in. I ho pe to be in a walking cast next week, so I won't have to try to jockey the knee walker thru the door.

Anjelika, bless you for getting adopted! She sounds like a real doll.....kitty cuddles are the nest!

Mystic, I'm sorry to hear about Pico. I was hoping for a safe return.

I did have an escape scare the other day. I came home from work to discover I was short one Boo kitty. I knew no one got out when I came home, I was afraid he'd snuck out in the am. And he's not fond of the great outdoors. So, I look in drawers and cupboards, no go. I roll around the building twice, still a no go. So I figure that he'll come home when he's hungry and go inside to wait. I open a drawer to put away some laundry, and up pops Boo. Someone had opened the drawer, he got in, and then someone closed said drawer.....Boo simply went to sleep, as is his habit. And all the time I was looking for him, the little culprit(s) that put him in there were just sitting there looking like "WHAT?? We have NO idea where he is!"

Thanks, s2s. I was, too. I only hope Pico is okay, wherever he is.

I'm sorry Mystic. Sigh. Viktor and I will say another prayer for him tonight.

Thanks to those who commented about fish tanks. So the cat jumping on the tank didn't frighten the fish to death? I'd be afraid I'd be replacing fish a lot! When I move (hopefully soon), I'm going to look into it.

Thanks, NV :) Wish he would come home. He was my sister's affectionate cat and she misses him.

No, never noticed any adverse effects on the fish from the cat jumping on the tank, back in the days when I had a fish tank. The fish seemed oblivious to it all.

I am so sorry Pico hasn't returned from his grand adventure.
I lost my kitty in August when she went adventuring.

The new kitty is just now playing with a plastic bottle cap.
I didn't think she was especially playful, but she will chase a bottle cap around and carry it in her mouth, and toss it, chase it, catch it for long periods of time.

She also is fascinated by the ends of hair braids and uses her paws when eating and drinking.

I want the name of the scumbag that dropped off a fertile female...we now have 4 kittens and I hope the momma decided to move them to our neighbor's house. The meowing at 6 in the morning for breakfast gets on my nerves (Mom wants to get a pellet gun).

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE cats but we live below poverty level and cannot afford to take care of them (unless Pheonix sends me Umrel...).

Thanks, Anjelika. Sorry to hear you lost your kitty in August. Congrats on the new kitty.

The friend I visited on Thanksgiving has 8 cats in his apartment. Three are permanent and five are there temporarily because a friend of his who fosters cats had to move unexpectedly and he took them in for a while. Of course, six out of the eight cats had to sit on me, sometimes as many as three at a time. One was draped around my neck the whole time I was there. When I got home, my cats were at first perturbed. Then they became very clingy, like they were afraid I'd leave them and go off with a bunch of other cats again.

A friend of mine before she died had over 20 cats. People would drop them off, knowing she will take care of them.

Every time I visit her, the mean one would leap up into my lap and start purring. She decided I was her human.

In my house exist a cat, with the full blown attitude of a brat.
His name is Walter as in Matthau, if you dare leave him alone he has a cow.
He is part Maine Coon and boy what a toon.
The other part is Russian Blue Hair, and he doesn't care.
He loves to play inside of a sack, but to be honest his favorite place is my sisters rack.
He will climb onto her chest and lay his head on her breast.
He proceeds to snore loudly and a smile creeps upon him proudly.
If she moves he gets really pissy and if she put him down he throws a tizzy.

True story. He is a grumpy old bastard that is to smart for his own good.

*Hugs for LP*

My Gypsy is sitting on my bed with an attitude. If I pet her... she does this angry snorting gesture and meows loudly.... She's in a foul mood today.

So sorry, LP. Pet losses hurt as much or more than losing most people. May the joy return soon.

Gandalf aka "Fatboy" passed on to the great mouse hunt in the sky about two weeks ago. We just learned of this the other day. My slave's ex-wife recently returned to the area. Her and the ex had been together for 11 years and Fatboy was their cat. When her ex returned to the area, we got her interested in taking the cats and gave them to her. The girls got together the other day and samdarella came home from the lunch meeting crying. She told that her ex came home and found the cat dead. I feel sorry for her ex, I am sure it hit her extra hard to get the cat back and then have it die in her care just a few weeks later.

Fatboy was a 20lb monster of a cat and delighted in rolling on his back to show off his big belly. He will be remembered fondly around here.

My cat is lying curled up with the little dog. Silently plotting my demise, I'm sure....she is a cat, after all. It's what they do.

Be careful what you wish for

Due to my continuesly unstable private life situation Urmel and his mum are living with my parents since july and they are close to throwing them out

Cause they were fine at first but it changed when my other two stayed with parents as well when we went on holiday...since then they started using their bed as a litter box and now started to tear off the wall paper

I hope to get them a bit calmer with some stuff which is similar to the stuff they send out when scratching their mouth around on things as that helps some cats when they are stressed but for now there is no guarantee it will improve

Parents can't wait that F and I will be able to take them in with us, once we move to a bigger place next year...
