Unlike those who've posted to this thread who're not into hip-hop, I quite like it. There are some amazing artists working in that field. (I don't like all hip-hop, just as many here probably don't like all of country, or all of jazz, or all of rock .. . . . As I like to say, I love music. What kind? The good stuff . . . . . )
However, Kanye is an, eh kinda experience for me. Mainstream, boring, oh-so-commercial, nothing to write home about. I prefer Arrested Development above & beyond. I'm also very fond of Missy Elliott & TLC . . . Oh, & there's Jay-Z, I quite like some of his stuff.
Here's what Jay-Z did the night Kanye was acting the ass:
"...Jay-Z was busy making dreams come true for a few members of the U.S. Armed Forces. "Sources tell us when Jay arrived at the ASICS after party at the 40/40 Club -- which he owns -- on Sunday night, he pulled the uniformed crew from the line outside to walk the red carpet with him. "After that, we're told Jay brought them inside the club and hooked them up with full VIP treatment."
Hell, I'd rather listen to NWA than Kanye any day of the week, tho' they're a little confrontational for my tastes . . . . .
But what's particularly amusing for me about this whole kerfluffle is that Kanye got roasted on 'South Park' back in April for exactly his issues of being a clueless ego-maniac. (Full episode, 22 minutes, online: Fishsticks.)
& here's Kanye's reported response to his roasting:
"South Park murdered me last night and it's pretty damn funny. It hurts my feelings but what can you expect from South Park!" West thanked the South Park writers in his blog entry and acknowledged he has a problem with his ego, but said he was trying to change.
Will Kanye learn from his latest life lesson? Good question.

Oh, & whoever was asking about Kanye's name -- It's pronounced Can-yay or Con-yay . . . . . & exotic names are wonderful, & making fun of them is punk ass. Trust the woman who grew up with the 'Kia' name long before that car company acquainted everyone else with it's spelling & pronunciation . . . . . My experience is that those burdened with dull, ordinary, excessively common names can feel threatened & jealous when confronted with the glory that is an unusual name, & sometimes that sense of inadequacy can come leaking out in little passive-aggressive swipes . . . .
Not that that would apply to anyone 'round here, of course . . . . [;)] & [8D]
