Sad but their are 100's if not thousands of cases like this, but don't worry the GOP tell us the insurance industry will police itself, no reason to have reform

NB conservatives: she or the other one mentioned in the article, are not from canada, had a long wait and paid high premiums, and were turned down for care, by a ad hoc death panel (without any democratic legislation, or political affiliation).

that drops all arguments proffered to date against healthcare reform like a stack of toothpicks.

"CIGNA Launches National "It's Time to Feel Better" Advertising Campaign to Support Health Service Mission"

http://www.pr-inside.com/cigna-launches-national-it-s-time-r707679.htm

This is the bastards catchy slogan to launch their 2008 advertising campaign and a link to their PR(think bullshit) press release.

Here's an excerpt from it for those who don't want to read the link.

"In taking the initiative to declare that 'It's Time to Feel Better,' CIGNA acknowledges that many Americans feel frustrated with the current health care system. Employers are struggling to manage rising costs. Doctors are spending too much time on paperwork. CIGNA is committed to working together with employers, doctors, brokers, government, and individuals to make change happen - to help the people we serve improve their health, well-being and security, as stated in CIGNA's mission," said Michael Showalter, chief marketing officer. "

Draw your own conclusions as to what these fuckers really care about.

They are waiting word from their masters as to what the new spin should be this time.
limbaugh has his hands full deciding if hes gonna take the wonderful opportunity that a court case will do for his ratings, meanwhile beck has his hands full, whinning with terrible tears, his fondness for america as it was *yesterday* and likening the treatment of fox news by the white house as the same as the jews suffered under hitler.
These guys wouldnt know reality if it crept up their dicks and strangled their bowels.
no chance of that happening tho, sigh

Annarus, thanks for the link that is just incredible,
this bit is lovely....."It's an empowering campaign," said Howard Sherman, President of Doremus. "And CIGNA should be commended for leading the way by acknowledging that it's time to make things better"

Coming from the Ad company, well that says it all really. All smoke Mirrors and glistening bullshit

I guess you are right. All of these problems will just go away when a government bureaucrat is making these decisions instead of an insurance company. They will also be making other decisions for you as well.

'A' government 'crat will not be making decisions. While we are on the topic of profound logic, this is not the only decision that insurance companies have made.

So, worst case scenario is that I get dumb shit for a whole lot less cost.

But thanks, that's thought out real good.

Anyhow you have big phone retirement and insurance, so why do you even have a fuckin dog in this fight, use?

I live in the reality of government run health care and have done my entire life, or do you conveniently forget these things???
I dont expect anything perfect, I dont expect anything even close to perfect, there aint no such animal, not in this world...if it involves humans then its very much flawed.
Your guesses and assumptions are getting wider of the mark day by day.

Your'e right I do have insurance which is still funded by AT&T. Why do I care ? Government health care will put private insurance companies out of business. I and millions of others who are happy with our coverage will have no where else to go except the government plan.

nope, you get to keep that. there is no clause to DO AWAY with private insurance, the government employees (read your senators and congressmen et al) have 100% coverage for anything, they aint about to give that shit up.

Why would they put private insurance out of business anyway? how could they?

quit the knee jerk shit, and think. How?

Well boo-fuckin-hoo.  If getting run out of business is the worst that happens to them, they should consider themselves very lucky. With companies such as above one that's getting off pretty easy in my book.

btw... I'd like to see list with names of the other "millions"

There is no clause to do away with it, but that is exactly what will happen. Why would a company like AT&T pay a private company to pay for it's employees coverage if they don't have to. They end their plan and the employees have no other option. Go to the Govt. plan like everyone else.

don't you first of all have a contract with them regarding healthcare? the government even in a public option would not force you to take their insurance over private. Insurance out there being as good as it is for the likes of you......why would AT&T have reason to dump you on the government? You think the government is going to allow that? I mean come on, you are a socialist at heart, 33 years of union membership collective bargaining, contracts, lawsuits, you know they can not do something like that for a fact without major legal and financial repercussions, which preclude their doing it.

There ain't nothing real in what you are saying use.

If AT&T can save money they will dump the currently funded plan in the blink of an eye. Our 3 year contract comes up again in 2.5 years. That also is a blink of the eye.

and that does not automatically make you wards of the state, there is a bargaining going on that is not one sided. you by example will not be left with a little giant from combined insurance, and don't even play like you will.

now if they can save money, sure they can switch to anyone, and who says that a government run healthcare option is going to be the cheapest? my understanding is that they were going to use private insurers to pool for these things, and underwrite it some like they did the toxic assets.

I understand your reticence to change from exactly what you have today, but nevertheless (even if there is no reform) at bargaining time, it will change anyhow.

but now these things should be discussed, and there are far more loquacious and persuasive people with alot more acumen in this than me out here and throughout our country.

But there are more people in trouble healthcare wise in this country than is good for our country, and we must correct that.

I am not going to lambast you any further, use, but at the core of your argument is the implied premise that you (as a class of folks) might be paying too much for your healthcare, otherwise you would be happy for more options.

Ron

I won't mind paying more. We do that every 3 years anyway. I just believe that everyone will only have one option. If the profits are taken away from private companies they will fold. mike

mike,

I don't think even the communists in our government think that insurance companies should be required to run at a deficit. What some folks are saying is that if they can afford to give out billions in bonuses and spend billions in lobbying efforts to not change, they can afford to reduce their premiums and treat those Cigna insured folks to treatment for cancer, since they paid for it.
