Funny...given the numbers, both in terms of viewership and number of outlets...how worried this administration is about one news outlet.

But take more and more of my money to help those who won't help themselves or who feel that I somehow...by being white, by being college-educated, by having two parents who stayed together, something...got a break that they did not? That pisses me off and I'm tired of it.

The model of the "lazy bums who won't help themselves" is a myth used very well to the advantage of those who want to protect their inherited wealth. All you have to do is find a couple of welfare cheats, or a drug addict getting something from the government and there you have it, proof that the money of the "working people" is being taken to support the undeserving. If the right wing actually took any less of the money that the average working person made, I might be far more sympathetic. However, the current trends show a revers Robin Hood model. They steal from the middle class to give to the rich. While they do so, they talk meaningless phrases about smaller government and less taxation and some follow along as if that was really a likely outcome. There are far more people who are just looking for a level playing field than a handout. It is a shame that that is overlooked in this "I don't want to help the undeserving" mindset.

As the percentage of the wealth owned by the top 5% increases and the percentage owned by the rest of us decreases, of course they pay a higher percentage of the total tax revenue. Either there are policies in place to increase that gap to an unprecedented extent or it is your opinion that the upper 5% have drastically increased in productivity over the last decade. The figures show, in fact, that it is the middle class that has increased productivity while facing stagnating real wages. There has been a massive redistribution of wealth over the last years and guess what? The working man and woman hasn't been on the right end of it.

The refusal of the other networks to participate in an interview session that Fox was denied access to was a nice statement to the administration. It doesn't seem to be getting spun that way (yet) in the few reports I've seen, but that was a pretty direct rejection of the "and you ought not treat them as a news organization, either" statement/threat. Maybe they'll pick that angle up for Sunday. Every day I drove by people who did nothing but sit on their porch and smoke cigarettes. Then the first of the month would come around and the welfare checks would go out. These same people would then take a cab (never tipping and always complaining about the cab fare) to the store to cash their check and stock up on a month’s supply of diapers, mac and cheese (generic brand, of course), cigarettes and beer. Then it was back to sitting on the porch for another month. I can’t say how numerous they are compared to the whole population but there definitely exists a group of people that could be called the lazy class. Don’t even get me started on the low-lifes my parents had the misfortune to rent a house to. “Lazy bums who won’t help themselves,” are for real and they are far more numerous than they should be. I’ve seen it with my own eyes.
