ORIGINAL: TwistedHeart74 What is it about sex that seems to complicate a friendship? I mean who better to trust than a friend, someone you know? I'd think there'd be a sort of comfort in that. My best friend is a guy. We have had sex. *shrugs* It didn't change anything between us, we're still best friends. For me it's the added intimacy of sexual relations on the friendship. That can create emotions that are deeper than what usually happens between friends, and when one or the other starts a relationship on his/her own, jealousy can rear in it's ugly head, both from the friend or the new spouse. I prefer buddies and friends to be buddies and friends without such drama and have clear cut boundaries of the relationship in regards to intimacy. A best friend for me that also has the intimacy of sex is my spouse. If you can do it then all the power to you, but for me it doesn't work.
