I know I am jealous as hell over Rush. I wish we liberals had a voice that was so completely uninterested in truth, integrity or dignity. Of course, then we'd have to find a way to make the liberals as gullible as the conservatives who actually believe in what Rush says, so I suppose it wouldn't work anyway.

You do. KO..and he's far worse because he doesn't have a sense of humor.

I've seen a great many things of a complimentary nature said about Rush in these forums, RML.  I myself have praised him highly for his skill at getting people to listen to commercials for Sleep Number beds (ie; saying he is very good at what he does).  I don't recall anyone calling him a symbol of integrity.

Are you now asking us to engage with you on an issue while you pretend you don't know the difference between an evening news anchor, and a radio talk show host?  Get back under your bridge.

Yes, when that radio talk show host gets an inordinate amount of respect and outright adulation from GOP leaders.

Yes, when that radio talk show host is invited to speak before organizations like the Conservative Political Action Committee.

Yes when we have a legion of "dittoheads" defending his every utterance as the pronouncement of truth, including many on these boards.

So tell me again, who doesn't understand the difference between news and entertainment?

You are right, there is so much in common when one makes up false information and refuses to admit it and on did not do enough fact checking and admits they were taken. Add to that one is supposed to be a reporter and one a commentator.

Of course Rush simply making up false claims is worse than Rather failing at fact checking a story but I think the point is that if what Rather did was justification for running him off the air then Rush should hang up his mike.

I may have misinterpreted but I think he was saying the opposite, that Rather made up the story.

But that is contrary to teh facts of the situation. Rush has been caught dozens of times simply making up his own facts and Rather simply reported a story that turned out to be false.

Ya know, I watched rather about to spew orgasmic fluid upon himself during the Bush/Kerry contest when the polsters who were evidently completely fucking wrong or imbeciles themselves kept insisting Kerry was gonna win it. I also watched his frenzied but, wait, but, wait journalism when the results started floating in.

I also watched CBS stick him out of sight and out of mind at Walter's funeral.

Rush reads news, from lots of sources and doesn't claim to be a newsman. Rather did. The but, wait, but wait defense floated around for a bit too once the story of made up crap eeked out.

That's ok. Rush's ass is big enough for a few million outraged liberals to land on before he shits you back out.

I've a good sense of humor but I fail to see humor here.

….”America's Truth Detector; the Doctor of Democracy; the Most Dangerous Man in America; the All-Knowing, All-Sensing, All-Everything Maha Rushie; defender of motherhood, protector of fatherhood and an all-around good guy.” …

You see, KD, speaking as somebody who used to listen to Rush for entertainment, the pompous ass character, who doesn't break character, is pretty funny.  Imagine John  Cleese reciting that second line.  If you really fail to see it, then I must say that your sense of humor isn't the right kind for this sort of comedy.

Didn't Superman say something like that?

Good old Limppa and Dan Rather are brothers now…they both took it upon themselves to spew gossip that turns out to be a hoax. I wonder if Limppa will be hounded out of his job the way Rather was?…Is there any difference in their actions I ask?

Anyway HERE is the story.

Just another example of his irresponsible divisive hate politics at any cost...even the truth...

Butch

Actually...the difference is that when Rush found out...during his show...that what he was commenting on came from a satirical site, he made sure to proclaim loud and long that it was satire and not a true story while noting that in the best comedy, there is some element of truth.

I don't recall Rather stating yet that his story was a fabrication that he fell for and that, if believed, could have resulted in charges against Bush.  Do you?

mnottertail -> RE: Rush Limbaugh and Dan Rather partners in crime (10/27/2009 12:59:02 PM)

I do, he made the apology (along those lines) on the nightly news.

you prolly didn't (and still don't) watch that channel, is all.

Yet, of course Mnot will not provide any sort of evidence for that. Just lots of insults.

Ususal boring shit.

And Mod 11 seems to not mind.

Sad to see so little changes in here.

No, I was entertaining the neo-cons, by imitating Rushs patter, they think it is funny. read the thread here for once, you will see the post THEY made.

Sorry I can't be any more imbicilic, like Rush, I have an intellectual starch-blocker that prohibits that, it is called reason.

Not the most prolific, but then I don't need anything more than Joe the Plumber hyperbole to make a point, that has been intoned as reasoned argumentation.
