I called this at the outset, nothing gonna happen before mid-terms on this.....I coulda singlehandedly saved more people the pain of carpal tunnel, than we've freed in Iraq (and I understand that is in the millions) if you would have listened, guys.

Saw it right off.

Credit goes where Due, Mnot did indeed make the wild and highly unlikely prediction that The Dems after gaining poweer would flounder, and be unable to deliver on thier promises.  Seems like everyone on the right predicted the same thing, as well as the fact that the Dems would continue to blame the Republicans for thier inability to pass legislation, and continue to act like they are the Minority.

What I did not get about your analysis, and recieved no answer for when I asked about it,  "Why would next session be any different than this one?".

If you are a 'red' state democrat in the house or senate right now you do not want to have to vote on spending 1 trillion + on health care reform. They will be running scared. It's almost like Obama is a lame duck after his first year.

tazzygirl -> RE: So where is the GOP health Reform Bill they promised us in June was almost ready??? (11/4/2009 6:06:03 PM)

I dont think the trump card has ben played yet. But, thats just my personal opinion.

servantforuse -> RE: So where is the GOP health Reform Bill they promised us in June was almost ready??? (11/4/2009 7:32:34 PM)

The dems will need one heck of a trump card to get this passed now. Harry Reid postponed any Senate vote until after the New Year. The longer they take, the less chance it will have of passing.

What babbles me, is everyone agrees our health-care system is broke, yet many are more concerned with their 'party" then with working on actual change.

The GOP bill that was presented, is nothing more than allowing insurance companies to get around state laws by only having to follow the laws of the state they are headquartered in.  If you read the fine print, it basically says, we are going to move our HQ to the state with the fewest laws governing us, then we don't have to follow any other state laws such as pre-existing condition, age limits, and rate increases for the ill.  So, if you're young and healthy, the GOP plan will be great for you and the insurance industry, you just have to stay young and healthy for the rest of your life

Not flounder, that is what the GOP is doing, I said that there is no political worth in passing healthcare before the mid-terms, and they are going to stick it to the already crumbling GOP.

I am taking a page out of your book, and not proofing even the most citeable shit.

Since you are so often proved completely wrong or neanderthal neo-conic by events, I can afford to bide my time.

I also said that the GOP was going to obstruct anything and throwback to their old already bankrupt idea days of Ronnie Reagan, and you didn't credit that, how come?

It never ceases to amaze me how conservatives will complain about spending money on social causes but never have a problem spending money on wars.

To date, $915.1 billion dollars have been allocated to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.  The national, state, and local numbers we provide are based on the total approved amounts through the end of Fiscal Year 2009.

In addition to this approved amount, the FY2010 budget shows a $130 billion request for more war spending. This would bring total war spending in Iraq and Afghanistan to more than $1 trillion.  When all FY2010 war-related amounts are approved, we will adjust the counter so that it reaches the new total at the end of FY2010.

No he didn't, but let's not have facts get in the way.

RealClearPolitics - Politics - Nov 04, 2009

The new questions were raised Tuesday when Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., told reporters in the Capitol that he couldn't promise a health care package will pass this year.

"We're not going to be bound by any timelines," Reid said. "We're going to do this legislation as expeditiously as we can, but we're going to do it as fairly as we can."

A couple of hours later, Reid spokesman Jim Manley issued a more upbeat statement.

"Our goals remain unchanged," Manley said. "We want to get health insurance reform done this year, and we have unprecedented momentum to achieve that. There is no reason why we can't have a transparent and thorough debate in the Senate and still send a bill to the president by Christmas."

The GOP alternative?  [sm=rofl.gif]

The GOP has no alternative, only a vague outline with absolutely no substance that they are trying to sell to the gullible.

Here is the full text and a summary.

Show me one concrete proposal that contains any facts about how they are going to do what they propose.

Mnot, Seems like winning elections in states the President carried, and campaigned agressivley in for the Dem Candidate, is the opposite of floundering.

Or crumbling.

But thats just me.

The same issues will face the next congress, and the one after that.  They are allways up for re-election.  And the Dems can't hold a liberal Majority.  The only way they can get a majority is with a bunch of Conservative Dems.  Thats why thier liberal goals flounder and crumble when the dems get majority.  Its a center right country.

Moonhead -> RE: So where is the GOP health Reform Bill they promised us in June was almost ready??? (11/5/2009 11:34:35 AM)

If it was a centre right country, the Democrats would do a lot better. I always get the impression it's a very rightwing country.

It may be "very rightwing" in comparison to more recent UK and EU standards, but from a broader historical perspective it is center right.

If you look at the Dems who lost, non of them supported the health-care reform, which liberals chose not to show up to vote for them.  I think, smart DEMs are looking at this and realizing that the vote will follow health reform as if did in the Nov election

Strange how the GOP does not mention 2 DEM's winning a seat's the GOP has had forever with a people who supports health care reform (OK they held 1 forever)

Which 2 Dems are you talking about? Corzine most certainly was a proponent of health-care reform, and while I dont know Deeds, I do know his entire campaign for the last couple of months was based on riding on Obama, so I doubt he eschewed that part of Obama's positions.

I hope you're wrong. That will probably kill it--the Republican plan.

The majority of Americans, pick your poll, want something done (and want a public option).

I hope they pull together the strands, pass it without Republicans if that's how they want it, and get it signed, soon.

We just can't afford, economically, to allow this to continue year after year, decade after decade, costs ever rising.

Perhaps now that both the AARP and AMA are on board, things will start to move.

It seems there is big money making sure a single voice is heard  The teabaggers and others get their money from

http://thinkprogress.org/2009/11/05/david-koch-astroturf/

And the numbers do not add up to a million even though FOX says it does

But who needs facts

Sanity -> RE: So where is the GOP health Reform Bill they promised us in June was almost ready??? (11/5/2009 6:26:30 PM)

That's a cop out - the Republicans don't have the power to kill it. You claim theres public support? If so, it should have been a done deal by now, with all the bells and whistles.
