Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen

When I saw the above headline, I immediately thought yet another, it could only happen in Britain, but I was wrong, it is in the US, what madness, and a worry, because I do the same. I wasn't aware it can be taken as a crime, in your own house, my beliefs were, if someone views something they don't like, well, they shouldn't be looking in people's houses. Windows in houses are for the purpose of those inside, looking out, not some nosy bastard looking in.

Wtf is happening to this world we call civilised ?

servantforuse -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 8:05:21 PM)

It is called political correctness. If you are easily offended, you call and file a complaint. I would sue her for being a peeping tom, or in her case, a tomette.

DomImus -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 8:05:39 PM)

I would question why the woman was not immediately charged as a peeping Tom and I would be demanding same if I was him.

Yeah, I read about this here:
http://www.theweeklyvice.com/search?updated-max=2009-10-22T21%3A38%3A00-07%3A00&max-results=7 (Scroll down...it's the last story on that page)

Absolutely ridiculous. Don't be looking in people's windows if you don't want to see a naked ass.............luci

kdsub -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 9:02:50 PM)

Oh come on... the guy was flashing...get curtains and use them or wear clothes. What if you were walking down the street with your young daughters...do you want the neighbors naked in the windows with their wangers pointing?

You talk one way here but a different way, I'll bet, if it were on your block...I sure would have a talk with him before I called the police but I don't blame the lady for being afraid for her children.

NihilusZero -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 9:21:48 PM)

Stupid complaint reinforced by idiocy mistaken for personal rights.

popeye1250 -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 10:25:16 PM)

Windows are for people to look out of not for people to be looking "into"!
The police should have arrested the person/s looking "into" the house!

Afraid of what? Is seeing a wang going to turn them to a life of crime?

When I grew up it was simple. Your mom says "You know it's wednesday and mrs johnson likes to go nude. So stay away from her house."

Termyn8or -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 10:43:27 PM)

Hold on a fucking minute here, this was not sexually provocative unless you consider a Mr. Coffee machine as a sexual aid. (I will field answers to that especiallt her, I mean I heard about the tear gas, and am waiting for the mention of a flame thrower).

But is the human body really obsene ? What about michealangelo's Davin ? Isn't there a picture of it in damnear every dictionary in the world ?

If there were other factors, OK, but none were mentioned. So we are obsene now and must cover up. That is getting close to government enforcement of a religion, too close for my comfort.

In other words, so the fuck what ? The guy was naked, big deal. Think of it this way, is there a window in his bathroom as well sop he can practice his debauchery there as well ? Or does everyone with a bathroom window need to stop taking showers ?

I could understand, someone wants to raise their kids in the Puritanical way, that is their right. But really what should happen is that he be asked to get some curtains, or something because someone doesn't like looking at his schwatz. Take him to jail for it ? Preposterous. Or does making coffee get Women hot ? Please advise.

Now the Terminator phase. Even if someone looked in my window and caught me having sex or jac king off, and then accused me of exhibitioism, I would turn the tables real quick and accuse them of voteurism.

Face it, the guy really didn't have a whole lot of common sense, but if we put people in jail for that, there would probably not be enough people left to even guard the prisoners.

You know what I would have done if I didn't want my kids to see? Covered their eyes. Just like my gramma used to do to me in the movies when a titty or ass popped out.

winterlight -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 10:49:37 PM)

As far as i am concerned she shouldn't be looking in his window IF she walked staight up to the window.

I had a time when i went walking at night with a male friend and we walked by a man's house with a huge bay window. He was naked and walking around for all to see. We were on the sidewalk and he left nothing to the imaginiation. His curtains btw were very sheer. My male friend yelled at him for being so stupid. Can i understand the lady being uncomfortable yes.

I have mixed feelings about it. What you do in your own home fine. For me he should have used curtains and then been naked thats how i would have done it. I am shy and would be mortified if that happened to me. that is me...

But she wasn't walking down the street - she was marching right through his front yard, taking a shortcut across his property. Personally, I seldom wear clothes around my house in daylight, and if anyone cutting across my property happens to notice this and take offense, that's their problem, not mine. Go tramp around in someone else's yard, and spare me the self-righteous histrionics.

DemonKia -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 10:54:24 PM)

Or maneuvered my body between the kid & the nudity, or distracted the kid by pointing to something in the other direction, or crossed the street -- if it woulda bothered me.

Personally, I took my kids to museums, nudist places, & etc, so nudity per se doesn't qualify as something children need to be 'protected' from, in my book . . . . . .

Now, if the dude was stroking his stuff while sippin' his coffee & hangin' out in the window(s), or similar, that's somethin' else. But as presented . .. . .

Kia, with that hairdo, get some curtains. No offense intended now, but if you make the kid run out in the street and get hit by a car how would you feel ?

I read both links and I didn't see that.  I read that she was passing by.  Was there another version that said she was on his property?  If that was true, I would think there would be talk of trespassing charges against her.

Yeah, I'm sorry Cali, you're right. It's not in that article. I just saw that.

I only know that because a local radio show here in the Twin Cities spent about 20 minutes banging away at this story last week, and they had a criminal defense attorney as a guest explaining the legalities of the issue. They went into quite a lot of detail, very  little of which was covered in the linked article. He explained that a prosecutor would be unlikely to file trespassing charges  because the property wasn't posted, and it was common for neighbors to use it as a shortcut. He also said that the prosecutor who charged the naked coffee drinker felt there was sufficient evidence that the man knowingly drew attention to himself at the start of the incident, but that it would probably be difficult to actually prove intent. He said that the prosecution would need to prove that the man knew he was being watched and deliberately made himself visible. Sounds like that'd be a tough one to prove beyond a reasonable doubt, but apparently the DA felt he had a good shot at it.

BBBTBW -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 11:20:34 PM)

I believe this guy was truely innocent. I mean after all it was 5:30 in the morning. What was this lady doing walking past his window that early in the morning with her child.

On the flip side, I believe people should be aware and keep their curtains closed. I was driving down a residential street one day and there is a trailer park that cuts the street off. There is a trailer parked where the streets intersect and the people who live there keep their curtains open. They have a large screen TV that faces the window. Usually no issues, they watch a lot of sports. However, on this particular day they were watching a sporting event of a more lewd nature and low and behold the curtains were wide open. It was 10:00 in the morning in the middle of summer. I politely went and knocked on their door and asked them if they realized that there were children gaping in their window watching the same thing they were. The man turned bright red and immediately went and closed the curtain. He honestly didn't think about people being able to see his television screen in broad daylight. The curtains are never open now.

This woman should have politely or impolitely informed him of the exposure he was allowing people to have of him and allowed him to correct his behavior. I am a nudist at home. In the summer I keep my bedroom windows and curtains open in the evening. Heaven forbid someone look cuz they will get two eyes full. I don't show off, but I don't hide either.

Aneirin -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 11:20:55 PM)

Reference the thought that the chap was not too wise for being unaware he could be seen, well, if he is anything like me, I am not awake until the hot brown liquid called coffee, is running down my throat, in the morning, the move to the coffee maker, is on autopilot, I am that unaware.

But as for people looking in windows of property that is not theirs, they have only themselves to blame if they see something they don't like, so the moral of the story is, don't look in the windows of private residences. The law, should recognise this fact, what is inside a property, is not outside. Curtains, blinds and the like, well, who here can honestly say they always close them, and do not open them until they are fully dressed and proper ?

I'm sorry to derail the thread, but I can't move on without asking - what sort of sporting event would that be? Because suddenly I'm thinking maybe I've wasted my entire life playing the wrong kinds of sports....

CalifChick -> RE: Man arrested for being naked in own kitchen (11/1/2009 11:25:14 PM)

Thanks Panda, for the clarification.

Aneirin, many places here (cities, towns, etc.) have ordinances against what you are saying.  What goes on in the privacy of your home is private UNTIL someone passing by can see it.  Then it is no longer private.  Yes, you are required to maintain either window coverings or personal coverings.
