You are a submissive in public refusing to address your Master as Sir..
Thus you flip your submission on and off like a light "switch" <==as to avoid offending the public vs pleasing your master and showing him the respect you clearly think he deserves as you have agreed to meet his terms and or conditions. Yet at any moment will Sir or ma'am the check out clerk at the grocery store and or pharmacy.

Your questions are often too black and white and this is another where neither of the answers on the poll fits for me. I would not be with someone who expected me to call him Master or Sir in vanilla situations however I also do not call anyone else Sir or Ma'am.

What I would be expected to do at all times would be to show him and everyone else respect and courtesy and to make him proud of my behaviour in public as it is a reflection of his training.

Master doesn't NEED my "Sir"...that's my need being put into words. The "sir" I have for older strangers, and elderly family members is about Southern courtesy, and tradition. The "Sir" I have for Master isn't about a public show-it's about the mood he is creating for me in the moment. He doesn't need a WalMart greeter hear me call him Sir, to know he is one. He knows when he has a handful of my hair in his hand, and my head tilted back waiting for his whispered words...that "Sir" is going to be there.

Totally agree sunny, this would have been an interesting discussion as I am always interested in learning how others show their dominance or submission in public discretely

What are some ways that you find to manage the dissonance between an s-type being respectful to the M-type in public that also manages the need to be respectful of the rest of the world and not subjecting them to your kink? How is the decision made?

But I am currently "sirless"

I did submit to a hairdresser recently who told me to turn around and kneel on the chair and bend forward while he cut. I said, "yes sir" to him. He just brought it out in me.

I take it it must be against the handbook for a D type to treat an s type with respect and manners outside of thier private times together.....Lord knows we Doms would never wish to be considered Gentlemen or well mannered....we are all oafs who demand blind following......I must be near as good at this as I had always thought.....
