jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/14/2017 3:45:18 PM)

I admit I would not have started a project IF I thought there was a chance for rain today....
I admit that the weather forecast on 3 local channels, the Weather Channel, Accuweather all agreed, 0% chance of rain.....

I admit I have seen less rain fall in an hour when living on Key West in a fucking hurricane!!!!!

I admit that the only way in or out of the house at this moment using the front door is by ladder since the deck is unfinished.

I admit that the front deck is unfinished because of rain that everyone said was NOT going to happen.

I admit that there are some meteorologists locally that should be buried up to their necks in ant hills until they learn how to read instruments.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/15/2017 5:53:09 AM)

I admit its raining already... again
I admit someone has his/her shit all fucked up
I admit that in west Texas, this is supposed to be the fucking dry season!
I admit that I am almost positive Lucy (Brit ex pat living in Canada) is responsible
I admit that while I will jump out of perfectly good aircraft for fun, I am not going to play with power tools outside in a thunderstorm, therefore Lucy's plan was doomed to failure at the start.

I also admit, that since I am sure that Lucy is responsible for this freak amount of rain, I am trying to figure out how to ship 9000 truck loads of red clay mud to her home to be dumped on her yard.

Princessemilyxx -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/15/2017 11:10:48 AM)

I admit it my shit dont stink

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/16/2017 12:01:53 PM)

I admit that when I lived in Texas, every time the weather person said there was a 20% chance of rain, it ALWYS poured.

I admit the Texas weather dudes (and duddets) need better maths skills.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/16/2017 1:28:26 PM)

I admit that today there is a 20% chance of rain
I admit that the sun is shining, and presently there is not a cloud in the sky, and it is creeping to 91.... in the shade.
I admit that the front porch and steps are completed, sans hand rails (ran out of wood) and the red clay mud has dried to its normal rock hard state.
I admit that I have repaired my desk chair, utilizing a base from another chair that bro in law's dog ate... (which brought the total furniture buffet to, two couches, a recliner, an overstuffed chair, two ottomans [pieces of furniture, not turkish citizens] and one desk chair)
I admit that, having no land lubber experience in carpentry, I went with maritime wood vessel specifications so, in essence (according to sister) I have over secured it, over braced it, over engineered it and over built it... but where as the main house may fall down due to high winds, that deck aint going nowhere!
I admit that the frame is constructed so that I can easily expand the porch to eventually wrap around the house.

Now, a question....

What the hell is wrong with making the frame of a porch with 4x10 framing and 2 x10 joists?

I mean granted, the deck as constructed could, conceivably support an additional level..... perfect for telescope and star gazing.

I admit I tend to overbuild things too.
I admit that when I first moved back 20+ years ago, my dad asked me to build a book case to hold file boxes for the office.
I admit that when I was done, he said something to the effect of "I'm going to put files on top of that thing, not a truck"

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/17/2017 10:56:15 AM)

I admit there are times when the idea of cutting off all links between Singapore and the outside world is so appealing that it is not funny.

I admit that "The Simpsons Movie" gave me an idea how to accomplish this, a giant dome over the entire island.

Your dad obviously wasn't aware of just how much crap some people stuff into their file boxes, then.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/17/2017 1:16:27 PM)

I admit that I over build things because I have lived through a couple of hurricanes, so I want whatever I build to survive those winds....

I admit that the "Hurricane hole" I added to my house in S Dade was the only thing that survived Hurricane Andrew.
I admit the eye of a hurricane is fucking eerie

When Andrew paid his visit, I was in the Gulf of Mexico on a 120 foot schooner that had just been restored, and try as our good skipper might, we found ourselves in Andrews path.

You want fun, try 14 knots with zero sails aloft.

You want eerie? go from 20 plus seas to flat calm....

You want to have 30 people want to throw you to the storm, tell them you are having a fucking blast fighting that beast of a storm....

I mean hell, the odds were we were going to die, so why the fuck shouldnt I have enjoyed it?

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/17/2017 5:19:15 PM)

We buried my father, the day Hurricane Andrew hit Baton Rouge.

Sorry to hear that.

WinsomeDefiance -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/18/2017 9:12:21 AM)

I admit, it was a long time ago, but it was memorable. When I tell the story, I usually say that my dad was such a good man that nature wept at the loss of him. He really was a great man.

Hurricane Andrew was not nature weeping, it was nature throwing a full blown temper tantrum.

I admit that I'm REALLY starting to enjoy giving spankings.

jlf1961 -> RE: I Admit It I........ (8/18/2017 5:30:49 PM)

I admit the Trumpkateers in R&D are getting disperate to pin anything on liberals.
I admit that I would like nothing better than to take every american citizen expressing anything but moderate political views out and horse whip them, or use a nice old fashioned Royal Navy lash on them, with lots of knots to remove skin, with a hell of a lot of salt to put in the wounds....

I admit that after that I will get mean.

I admit you have a point there.

I admit today was the munchmonsters first day of kindergarten.
I admit, that any other day, this kid would be hell to get out of bed......
I admit the little twerp was up at 0530 and dressed wanting to know "When does the bus get here?" with a smile on his face
I admit I do not do perky, ESPECIALLY at 530 in the freaking morning and without coffee. (okay, I do not do or tolerate perky at any time of the day with or without coffee, perky people should be hanged by their toenails from ceiling fans)
