ORIGINAL: Sanity "The bitch doesn't even look human." Hmm. If someone or groups of people can be successfully portrayed as not quite human (or 'subhuman') then that makes even the lowest, most vile acts of hatred seem not only acceptable, but necessary for the greater good of the people, doesn't it. So what are you waiting for? Grab your torches and pitchforks - there are subhumans among us who dare to breath... Uh... yeah... right! What could possibly be more logical than that? Thank you for yet another fascinating communication from Bizarro World. Meanwhile, back on Planet Earth.... Actually (yes the sky may be falling) I actually -agree- with Sanity on this one. When we start marginalizing people and justifying our biases by intimating that they are less than human, we become the monsters. I have my own opinions about Sarah Palin and find her behavior to be so much less than exemplary that I wouldn't even consider it -pitiful-, and, in general, I think she is a sorry excuse for a leader, and a worthless politician... but she is human, no matter how much some might wish that it weren't so. I'm sorry, but I can't agree. Naturally Sanity is going to interpret that phrase in the most inflammatory way he can imagine, because that's who he is and what he does. He's always looking for the best way to stir up as much shit as possible. But there are other ways to interpret the comment in the context of the post, and I maintain that it's perfectly valid to point out that she looks like a plastic mannequin, a barbie doll, a $29.95 inflatable date. That phony smile that never changes, the blank, vacant eyes that look like marbles - the woman's face looks totally lifeless, like some sort of cyborg. The subject of the conversation was her physical appearance, and if that's what she looks like, that's what she looks like. I'm afraid I don't see anything monstrous about it.
