After Sarah Palins interview with Oprah today, (just like FOX, fair and balanced), her new book will go through the stratosphere. The left continues attacking her for a reason. They are worried..

Absolutely. Comrade Sanity said so himself in the "carbon ration" thread. Just make sure your list is up to date, Comrade Mike. When the New World Order is fully installed, we want to make sure we hit the ground running.

I like Sarah Palin. I just don't understand the outright hate and name calling from the left. The 'left' doesn't like black conservatives and they don't like conservative women in the national spotlight. I just don't get it.

They arent attacking because they are worried. They are attacking hoping that conservatives will run to her defense and nominate her in 2012 to prove how wrong the left is. She is the only candidate who won't be able to beat Obama, and they are trying to goad the GOP into it.

We don't like conservatives, period, no matter how they're colored or how they're plumbed. Not necessarily personal, but we don't like their positions.

As for Palin, she's reaping what she sows. People have a strong personal reaction to her  because she's a mean, divisive, spiteful, self-described "attack dog." This is the way she chooses to present herself, this is the way she chooses to conduct herself, and this is the way we treat her back. Fuck her. She doesn't like it, that's her problem. She's got nobody but herself to blame for the way people respond to her.

servantforuse -> RE: McCain camp: Palin account 'all fiction' (11/16/2009 6:24:49 PM)

I think that she is the candidate that could beat Obama, and I really believe that might happen..

There is too much gratuitous labelling of various positions and persons as "conservative". The term has become a shit-bucket for any manner of crap that the left slash liberal slash progressive camp doesn't like, whereas in actual fact Robert F. Kennedy Jr's exposition of conservatism (linked here) drew surprisingly positive comments even from those who are usually in the front row throwing tomatoes.

....it's not totally impossible, just highly implausible.

As Panda pointed out earlier she's incredibly divisive. Elections are usually won by the candidate that can appeal to the middle ground. Thus far Palin has shown no ability, or even any desire, to do this.

Her resignation from her Governorship alienated many who might have considered her. She said at the time that she was going to use her time to actively work on issues........what has she done other than write a book that blames a portion of her failure on her fellow Republican McCain?

Ya know, I agree with this. I respect a number of Conservative writers, even when I disagree with them.

It's only recently the rhetoric (from both sides) heated it up to the dismissal it is now.

I'd have to add, though, that the narrow litmus test type of ethnic cleansing going on in the Conservative camp invites it.

The last truly conservative Republican- who actually belived in balanced budgets, retrained governance, and a responsible military posture- was Dwight Eisenhower. Yet today this same Ike would be purged from the Party, and dimissed as a "liberal". Goldwater would be derided as a weak moderate.

Kennedy is right- The modern conservative movement is phony- it hates the free market, but supports crony capitalism and the incestuous relationship between government and private interests. It supports the unlimited enlargement of executive powers, even as it clamors for "limited government".

Palin isn't really conservative in her views- she actually represents the George Wallace 1968 consituency; rural white working class people resentful of ethnic minorities.

That's funny

Th eonly potential GOP primary candidate who has any hope of beating Obama in 2012 is Mitt Romney and he will never win the nomination.

Gingrich, Palin, Huckabee, Paul, Santorum, Pawlenty and Jindal have no chance of winning a general election campaign.
