You keep trying to force other people to accept your view as the one true one. That's a rudeness typical but not exclusive to the young. Stop being rude.

I don't care if you see a difference in my 24/7 D/s relationship to someone else's 1/7 M/s relationship. It doesn't matter to me.

But when it comes down to how it works in the real world, you calling yourself a slave doesn't mean you still don't get diagnosed with cancer because your master forbids you to have it. It is irrelevant.

And although you may run around at every munch and dungeon you can find, showing off how twue you are or aren't, there are many more of us who simply have this as the way we feel best living and don't need to get dressed up in pink latex or whatever to feel like we're slavier than thou. We don't care what you think of us except when you interfere in our relationships by telling us that we aren't what we know ourselves to be.

DesFIP, I just fell in love with you. XOXO

In actuality I've started calling myself his helpmeet. I do what he needs me to. But for us this has very little to do with extreme sadism or forcing people's sexual boundaries, it has to do with living a better life.

I couldn't have described my own relationship any better, Celeste. I agree 1000%

In our house there is a difference and it has to do with how much authority he has in their life. Alandra and I are his slaves because he has authority over every aspect of our lives. Someone who is a submissive to him, would negotiate and agree upon which aspects he has authority over.

this brings me to the question of Master, Dom, or Sir...I prefer to call him Sir..And that has alot to do with how I see myself. Does he think the title is cool...or does it work for both of us. I have found many supposed."Masters" on collar me...not all...like to have the name, but forget its about a lifestyle and communication..So Weather I am a sub or slave ...I am an important part of how this alll works .

I am a sub and i don't consent every time. I don't have to because i consented to him a long time ago adn i don't see that ever changing. As for limits yes i have them ther are somethings i just will NOT do. Master nderstands and most of hislimits are the same.

I have heard subs have limits of their own
The only limits a slave has is the ones their Master gives them

If i am wrong so be it, but this is what i heard.

I thought a slave was a 24/7 sub.

A slave is a servant who has consented to being treated lowly. A slave is weak.

Not in my relationship. My Master doesn't "get off" on treating people lowly so he doesn't do it. Also I called myself his "sexual servant" once and he slapped me. To him that implies hired help. Obviously, not all Masters/Mistresses feel the same way. Its different for everyone.

I have said this before: When I first started reading posts here I thought, geez louise, I'm not a slave! So I told my Master. And he said don't tell me what you are. What matters is what I want and how willing you are to give it to me. I own you, you are my slave.

I think this goes back to the "rumcake" thing in the sense that every relationship is defined by its participants. If  I were to draw any kind of distinction at all between the two, I would say that slave implies an ownership dynamic and sub implies a more romantic, or casual, dynamic. But even that is limiting if I am talking about relationships that I am not a part of.

Not necessarily.....a sub is still a sub tho their r/t is 24/7......while a slave would still be a slave even if it isn't,for whatever reason,24/7.At least thats how I understand it.

Then perhaps its the frame of mind of the sub/slave?

~Fast Reply~
Well, this whole thread strikes me as funny, because we could dissect it for a thousand years or more and we'd still never all agree.  lol  As a matter of fact, I've been talking to a Dominant and He's been calling me a slave even though I ID as a submissive.  So I asked Him what His definition of slave is and it sounds just like my definition of a submissive.  lol  And when I realized that, I made a journal entry about it.  Go figure.  So I think when you're talking to someone, you just have to find out what they think the words mean.  The words are just labels, it's whether the two of you are on the same page or not with what you're looking for that really matters.

I am a slave. There are things I would not ever tolerate. However, after ten years I have been able to find a way to accept, or at the very least, endure everything my Master has thrown at me. Part of that comes from the fact that I made a point to become enslaved to an ethical caring Master whom I was compatible with at every important level. Luckily and not by chance, the things I would never tolerate are the same things my Master would never tolerate thus removing the complexity of that issue.

Nope. A sub can be 24/7, and a slave can be part-time. There are certain things that are generally associated with the word "slave", and a broader set of things that are associated with the word "sub", but there really isn't any hard line seperating the two.

To me it seems that a submissive has limits and will not do or tolerate certain things. But a slave will not have any limits and will tolerate anything. Is that true and can someone elaborate more on the differences between the two for me?
-Queen Penelope

Yes there is a difference and that difference is determined by the people involved in that relationship only.

Great answer. I would suggest bolding the only.
