I think an interesting lesson for an inexperienced sub like myself is that being a creep knows no gender boundaries.

Being a BBW sub, I always expect to receive one or two messages from a certain sort of man who sees plump girls and just goes for it.

But on CM, its the first time that I have received similar messages from women, or just plain out creepy ultra demanding messages from Dommes.

What can we learn from this? That BDSM has every type of personality under its black latex umbrella, and it is good to learn this in an online environment before going out to real life.

And it reminds me that just because I am a lesbian doesn't mean that I don't have to worry about my own safety. Creeps come in all shapes and sizes, ladies included!

Also, I don't know if this counts as me being a brat, but one line messages entirely composed of chatspeak? I am deleting and blocking your illiterate Domme ass, sorry to say. Literacy is my big kink.

It's 2.27am where I am and my sarcasm senses are at their weakest point. I choose to believe you are joking though.

Nobody is entirely perfect! Except for Leonard Nimoy. That dude is awesome.

It took a few anonymous bitches on a website to teach you that there are bad bad people in all walks of life? Wow!!!!! I think I got that message by the time I was 3. Seriously, there are bad people everywhere. If this is what you attract, you must look yourself in a mirror and ask why. All in all, however, welcome to the internet! Bitches and assholes have longed for a world just like this. Good luck!

And you know that these messages are from women how?  Because they said so?  How do you know they aren't teenaged boys typing with one hand when the parents are out for an evening?  One thing I learnt very quickly when I had an active profile is that if you let these idiots get to you, you are going to spend a lot of time in a very bad mood.

Seems mercyriddle does indeed know how to attract the weird and unpleasant ones.

I long for a world where people keep their passive-aggressive trolling to themselves, but maybe I am unusual in that regard? :D

Yes, because I live in a bubble and have never encountered a single person with less then honourable intent in my life. And then I came to CM and was like What? People don't have my best interests in mind? Whatever will I do?

Also CM is totally the first time I have ever been on the internet, and the mediocre attempts at getting into my big girl panties totally scare me, and do not make me laugh in anyway.

Seriously, what part of my post makes you think I think like that? What I am saying is that it's important reminder that no matter what your ideas of the BDSM community are, there is every kind of person here, and that includes creeps. And yes, I was surprised to get obnoxious emails from women, because I had never received them before.

And I know why I attract them. I am a young breast having sub. And there are a lot of people out there who only need that as a green light.

It's lucky I have my mind to fend off their nefarious advances.

Collarme has taught me to trust my gut instincts when it comes to people and situations.
It has also taught me that finding a needle in a haystack is the most glorious thing in the world.

That's most likely your biggest obstacle. Thinking that there's a community of people here who are somehow better than the outside world is unrealistic.

This is true, one cannot assume gender based on the esseintally 'scout's honor' system. I can only go on what is shown.

I remember reading somewhere that no matter what a person says they are on the net, they are actually an 80 year old Chinese man in panties.

The image amuses me as I imagine them pretending to be voluptuous Dommes on the net.

I've really taken a live and let live attitudes to the unwanted messages. I have actually met a lot of really nice people on here, and frankly I am happy to put up with a lot of trash for a few pieces of treasure.

Almost.  Change your location and gender preference first.

Gwydion, is your username taken from the character in Lloyd Alexander's series?

CM and the Intenet in general have made me a lot more cynical and a lot less cynical, at the same time. People are always going to surprise us. Sometimes for the good, and sometimes for the bad. Sometimes the people we think are "good" surprise us in bad ways and vice versa. Those are things I already knew, but CM has given me some vivid reminders.

Haha! My sarcasm senses were on! I'll live to fight another day!

Sorry, I'm usually better at that. This is why the net needs a font for sarcasm. Of course, 70% of my posts would be written in it, and then people would just block me.

CollarMe has taught me:

that there are tons of people in the world who feel similarly to me in WIITWD.
that there are good and bad people on every side of the kneel, and in every gender.
that being open and kind has given me the chance to become real-life friends with close to 50 people I would have never known otherwise.
that I am more "at home" with my kinky friends than my vanilla friends.
that there are people out there who will never make friends with anyone.
that stupidity runs rampant on the internet.
that there are some people I wish I never met.
that there is a place that feels like "home" to me on the internet... and it is the first site I check when I log in, and the last one I check before I log out.

Alt.com is worse than this place(not much) but i think its run alittle better. the moderators there don't have "favorites"(if they do they are good at NOT showing it) and they more fair. (imho)

I greatly doubt that anyone thinks there is a community here that is better than the rest of the world. Some persons do think there is a community that has its own distinct values and culture. I'm not so sure of that. Perhaps the real question is whether we can even speak of a "bdsm community" in any meaningful sense of the word. "Bdsm community" is a useful shorthand expression, but the "community" is really more like a shopping mall, a very diverse collection of groups and individuals with overlapping sets of interests.

New lesbian subs are a magnet for men. OP I can damn near guarantee that those rude letters from dommes are actually from men. One and all.

I'm not part of any 'community'. I'm not a subby sister. There are a lot more people here I don't want to associate with than those I do.

I go to the same grocery store as half this town. It doesn't mean that the woman standing next to me at the deli counter and I are fated to be best friends. We aren't. Same here.
