i posted my picture from the neck down. i wanted to have some anonymity and yet show that i am HWP, particularly because i'm an older sub. It proved helpful.

What is the advantage to people knowing you are a horny white pervert?

It's really odd. All I see is a little rectangle with a few words of text in them and you see pictures. It must be a configuration thing.

If you figure out how you managed to get that configuration, let me know [;)] Initially all I saw were text links to porn sites. That was fine. The owners do need to bring in some money to cover costs, after all. Now I get the porn pics with the stars which do an oh-so-clever job of hiding the fact that someone who looks like a teenager is giving a guy head. The ads seem to change periodically, so I can only hope I'll go back to the text links sooner rather than later [:D]

On the legality, I suspect that the record keeping onus (and that's the problem here) is with the advertiser.

If people submitted "indecent" pictures, CollarMe would have to maintain a file on each picture with a copy of the user's drivers license or other proof of age. If any of the proofs were missing the penalties are enormous.

Do you really want to have to submit your drivers license to be here?

I've submitted "racey" pics on other sites (never nudity but certainly things that would likely be considered obscene by some standards such as the results of a couple of hours worth of paddling, fire play or a nice, sound single tailing) and I've never had to submit personal information at all. All I had to do is click a link stating that I own the copyright or the images are public domain or that if I don't have the copyright that I do have permission to post them there. That's it. I know that site is housed on servers located within the United States so I guess I find it a bit confusing as to why the laws seem to be so different for different sites in the U.S. I can understand the owners of CM not wanting to end up in jail or lose their life savings what I don't get is the disparity in the laws for sites that theoretically should be governed by the same laws.

Having said all that, I respect the rules and play by the rules when I'm here but I hope that doesn't mean one can't question them.

Other sites may be willing to take a chance with the law. I suspect CollarMe is taking a more conservative approach. Given the penalties, I can't blame them. Several sites, including some very profitable ones, have simply chosen to go out of business. Had I not liquidated Diversified Services two years ago, I believe that I'd chose not to continue business on the web in today's climate.

The irony and tragedy behind that sentiment is deeply echoed.

Some get incredibly paranoid about the internet, and would rather not display their faces per fear of being "found out" by their family or peers. I suppose this is an understandable worry.

While I agree it is nice to see some one's face, I agree with amayos as to why some people would not want facial photos out there. This past Sat, I had the fifth stranger walk up and introduce themselves when they recognized me at a play party. I'm fine with that, as I live an open lifestyle. But we do need to keep in mind that people will recognize us. It is a small world, especially since most of us are viewing others in our immediate area. A friend found a girl he goes to college with on here. Another friend found one of his cousins on here. Putting your face out is not the simple task some seem to feel it to be.

To put it in perspective, however, I have been shot at every angle with and without clothes on in artistic or "cam erotica" photography for years. Not once while walking on the streets of Boston (or Manchester) has a stranger slid up to me and whispered in my ear, "I know what your penis looks like."

Actually, this did happen to me.. I had a woman message me after viewing some of the photos I'd taken and posted, asking if the man pictured was X. It was X. I found it strange that a woman was able to identify him by his penis/body, since X isn't overly distinctive. However, when X was an ex, I found a photo of him done by his next play partner. I recognized him instantly. When you know someone well, you don't always need a face to identify them.

truesub4u -> RE: Porfile Pictures (3/14/2006 12:53:12 PM)

Funny.. this did start out as a understanding of partial pics of BELOW the face... not as to why people don't show facial pics... LOL
But the responses have indeed been inerresting.

Dollbecky -> RE: Porfile Pictures (3/14/2006 2:10:01 PM)

Well I post pics not so people see my face or my bust or my figure but so they can see my clothes as I know the way I like to look can be "threatening" to some people ...this way should I choose to meet someone for coffee they wont bolt at first glance at the gothy ish chick..

LOL... make i can see that. Another good reason to post a different form of pic. (Looks over at the Goth one with her bass guitar right now... smiles... )... yep totally understand that response.

Vendaval -> RE: Porfile Pictures (3/14/2006 4:43:42 PM)

I found an ex once; in the back section of Playgirl, modeling men's unmentionables;
knew it was him by the chest hair patterns.

Tempestspet -> RE: Porfile Pictures (3/14/2006 5:04:29 PM)

I have to say I'm with Vendeval. I've recognized people in pictures that didn't show there face also. I've recognized many by seeing their posture while simple facing away from me, walking away down a sidewalk ...by many things, never having anything to do with the face.

I totally understand the need for privacy, though they may wish to simply not post a pic at all. There are many many things that give away who you are, without ever seeing your face.

michaelGA -> RE: Porfile Pictures (3/14/2006 5:35:58 PM)

what i meant regarding male nudes was, restrict them to full "natural" pics... not close-ups and have a set guideline using the allowed female nudes already posted. that's all i'm saying. the MODs or whoever could reject undesireable pics and such...as they already do,,,just allow for "tastefully done" pics that is comparative with the existing female pics.

fair enough?

MstrTiger -> RE: Porfile Pictures (3/14/2006 5:45:25 PM)

I used to mock none face showing people thinking that the chances of someone recognising them in the street is very slim, I have since discovered there is good reason for them doing it, I now get recognised by people all the time though my pics are on quite a few profile websites people send me messages in different groups telling me they have seen my profile on other websites also. I used to have a freaky online and real time stalker, he would send me messages online telling me where I had been that day, who I had been taking to and what cafes and shops I went in etc. Even taking that into consideration I prefer to keep my face pics on all my profiles though I don’t think less of people for not displaying their face pictures openly, though I do insist on seeing them once I start chatting to them.

So you want pictures of naked males on this site?

michaelGA -> RE: Porfile Pictures (3/14/2006 6:01:19 PM)

not that i, personally, would look at them...but either that or not allow any nudity at all...it seems only fair and not discriminating as things are now. maybe even have a seperate "Adults Only" album so that people can chose to look or not.
