Try natural sweets Shahar - fruits and beets for example - mixed with protein.  The sugar of the fruits/beets will give you immediate energy while the protein gives longer lasting energy.

The problem with sugar is it gives you a short burst of energy then you get the sugar letdown and are exhausted.  Try some GORP or ... for breaky I have hot cereal with fruit and nuts.  It gives me good energy - immediate and long term!

Thanks for all the info folks.

They say oatmeal sticks with you, but every time I eat it, I end up hungry again pretty quickly. I've always wondered why.

DesFIP -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/28/2010 12:26:53 PM)

I'm also on a no soy products diet for the thyroid but there's been no suggestion of cutting out cruciferous vegetables.
Instead of soy milk, you could try rice milk Sunny.

But if you can't deal with beans, try adding lentils.

But yes, protein in easy to get form is difficult without any animal products.

When we came back from town, I fixed us both an english muffin with cream cheese. It filled me up and mom did not grab her doughnuts like she usually does. I am drinking a punch now with pineapple, orange and lemon in it. Got my weekly soda (a 20oz bottle) in the icebox, waiting for tomorrow morning. I also picked up a salad so if we have soup tonight for dinner, I can get some roughage going.

Sunny, have you tried the morningstar line of foods? An old roommate of mine let me try a 'hamburger' out when I was in a protein fit...

I LOVE Morningstar products! High in sodium tho so use sparingly.

Ohboyohboyohboy I weighed myself this afternoon..........I've lost another 3-4 lbs. At this rate I may be able to wear a bikini this summer!

Spyke1985 -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/29/2010 2:25:29 PM)

I know I'm a bit late posting, but I'm in. I'm at 238 right now, would like to be around 120-130, which is what I keep hearing would be a healthy weight for me, and it does sound right. I don't get much exercise, mostly because I've been horribly depressed with my RT situation lately, but if I have people behind me encouraging me, I think I could actually do it, and finally lose this weight that's been hanging on me for13 years. >_<

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/29/2010 2:28:45 PM)

Welcome, Spyke!!!!!  I've gotten lots of encouragement from this thread.  I hope that you find us as inspirational as I have found all the others.

Spyke1985 -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/29/2010 2:35:55 PM)

Thanks for the welcome! I've been reading the thread and I think it will help. The influences surrounding me seem to either be fine with my weight or not caring, so maybe you guys will turn that around for me. I sure hope so. :)

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/29/2010 2:41:02 PM)

You really need to do it for yourself, of course.  To heck with other people in your world.  I do understand how some people can do their best to sabotage your good efforts, so stay strong & if you ever need to rant or vent or celebrate, come here.  You can also PM any of us.  Stay strong!!

Spyke1985 -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/29/2010 2:43:44 PM)

Well of course I do realize I have to do it for myself. Didn't mean you guys had to do it for me xD Just meant encouragement goes a long way. And believe me, if I have a reason to celebrate, you'll hear about it ^_^

LinnaeaBorealis -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/29/2010 2:54:48 PM)

Not referring to us.  I was referring to the other people in your life that you mentioned.  [:D]

BoundDragon -> RE: The CollarMe "Biggest Loser" Gang WANTS YOU!!1! (1/29/2010 3:13:52 PM)

Here is my report so far:

Start weight : 159.8lbs
Target weight : 123lbs

Saturday 16th Jan : 159.8
Saturday 23rd Jan : 156.3

My next weigh in is tomorrow... wish me luck.
It looks like shaking my bits and learning a new skill is doing the trick [sm=shake.gif]

Hi Spyke and good luck, I'm sure you'll do well.

Hi Linea, keeping up the good work I see.

I've been quite busy with work of late but made some discoveries:
1- Having no sleep pattern really screws with your energy levels, I'm fed up of being tired all the time so I'm back to being a 6.30am-11pm kinda girl. Its amazing the difference it makes.

2- I'm sticking to my dancing plans and starting to learn a few more specialist moves by now. Feeling kinda chuffed about it and having fun at the same time (as long as I'm on my own otherwise I feel like a total tit) [:)]

I'd just like to give my well wishes to everyone and hope you are all still going strong.

Its the high protein foods which make you feel fuller for longer.

If you can eat it, scrambled eggs are brilliant for breakfast and see you through to a late lunch quite easily. If you do wish to snack in between go for something like a handful of pumpkin seeds, some grapes etc etc.

I'm finding now that the foods that seemed dull before are actually very yummy now, its amazing how you can train your tastes

I haven't been doing the things that I think that I should be doing in order to continue to lose weight.  Oddly, when I weighed myself this afternoon, I actually had lost a lb or so.  So I'm not gonna worry about it.  Just keep on keepin on.  [8D]
