Sanity -> Obama Approval Lowest of Any President at This Point (12/9/2009 6:49:37 AM)

Previously, Gibbs had touted Obama's Gallup approval rating... but now Gallup has become the proverbial "Sour Grapes" to Gibbs.

Spin baby spin... [:D]

quote:

FOXNews.com - President Obama's job approval rating has fallen to 47 percent in the latest Gallup poll, the lowest ever recorded for any president at this point in his term.

Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford and even Richard Nixon all had higher approval ratings 10-and-a-half months into their presidencies. Obama's immediate predecessor, President George W. Bush, had an approval rating of 86 percent, or 39 points higher than Obama at this stage. Bush's support came shortly after he launched the war in Afghanistan in response to the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said he doesn't "put a lot of stock" in the survey by Gallup, which has conducted presidential approval polls since 1938, longer than any other organization.

"If I was a heart patient and Gallup was my EKG, I'd visit my doctor," Gibbs said in response to questions from Fox. "I'm sure a six-year-old with a Crayon could do something not unlike that. I don't put a lot of stake in, never have, in the EKG that is daily Gallup trend. I don't pay a lot of attention to the meaninglessness of it."

Gallup Editor-in-Chief Frank Newport responded: "Gibbs said that if Gallup were his EKG, he would visit his doctor. Well, I think the doctor might ask him what's going on in his life that would cause his EKG to be fluctuating so much. There is, in fact, a lot going on at the moment -- the health care bill, the jobs summit, the Copenhagen climate conference and Afghanistan."

Let me know when it gets down to the 20% mark that Bush had in polls in his final months in office.

Then I'll start to worry.

~ Fast Reality Check ~

It's funny to see the Obamites playing up the positives about his results and subsequent polling numbers. No election coming up for him and not a doomsday scenario; I think Reagan went from only a few points higher to the largest landslide in history. That may have been a function of his opponent, but you never know. However it points to why he's so concerned about passing a Health Care Bill before Congress recess's. Once the representatives head back and go through round two of the disenchantment meetings with their constituency; he's no likely to pass it, even in its current watered down form with no public option and expanding Medicare instead of cutting it. Oh well...

And yet, even in this instance the paranoid comparison to Bush!

The news story was about comparing Obama to prior Presidents - raw numbers. Add the commentary you need to keep a smile on your face; this is the reality.

I don't expect it will get down to 20%, but I'm not surprised it is that high. At this point, at least 47% of the population either works as a public employee, is supported by someone how is, or is on the public dole as a company or individual. Tough to make that group move away from their meal ticket.

And yet keeps landing on the same side of the divide....thats got to be some sort of weird satistical anamoly for an avowed Independent

Lucylastic -> RE: Obama Approval Lowest of Any President at This Point (12/9/2009 9:20:40 AM)

no no no not allowed to mention bush when comparing previous presidents....BAD RULE.
Of course non of the previous presidents have had to deal with an economy, global recession of this magnitude, since the 30s, but thats beside the point.

You are talking different time periods within their administrations here......this poll is the first 10 1/2 months in office.....and you wish to compare that with anothers final months in office? Ok, so wait until Obama's final months in office and then bring it back up AT THAT TIME....you bring up Bush's approval rating, ok, his first 10 1/2 months in office rating was 86% at the same stage in his tenure, very big difference for the same first 10 1/2 months in office

cuckoldmepls -> RE: Obama Approval Lowest of Any President at This Point (12/9/2009 9:28:55 AM)

Three things should terrify Americans about Obama. First, he doesn't believe in borders and he refuses to force employers to hire legal American citizens first. Secondly, he is a rather apparent muzlim sympathizer with Islamic roots in his family. He would have no problem with Islam taking over the world and all that it entails, especially loss of religious freedom. Third, he fully intends on attempting to take away every Americans fundamental right to protect themselves with a gun. Never mind that the criminals will still have guns, since by definition criminals don't follow the law, and never mind that a criminal can always use a knife or a baseball bat to break into your house and beat you into a vegetable so they can have some crack money.

I wonder if there was anything going on at the time.....yanno,something that might stir up nationalistic fervor and a desire to support one's President no matter who he was.....
I wonder?

And we have evidence of this how? Insofar as 'muzlim' or whatever, I assume your forefathers slaughtered dogs here in america for either the Pope or for Martin Luther or John Calvin, and this is how you know.

As a Federal Firearms License holder, I can tell you that there have been no changes to gun laws restrictions at the federal level, in fact Obama signed a bill that allowed guns in Federal Parks where it did not violate state law, which I saw as an expansion.

Hillary would have been better.   Think about it.  At least she DOES some of the things she says she will.   Unlike  barry satoro.

Pastor maning of atla Harlem - had CIA visit.   WHY?   the good pastor sent for Obamas gram in Kenya to come to America as she was present when the prez was born... and the point is the locale of where said birth occurred.

He really is lucky is the let him out this way... because when the British Empire is not happy with a prez- they assassinate him.  (they too are not happy)

I'm not making a comparison.

Just a statement that I will worry when his approval falls to that level, not till then.
