What do you call yourself in this lifestyle, (Master, Mistress, submissive, slave, switch, etc…), and why? Define your role and if possible, tell why or how you came to this definition.

I call myself a slave. I am a slave. I have surrendered all that I am, all control, to my Master,ScooterTrash and my Mistress,ShiftedJewel.

How am i defining "slave" then?

This is from the definition of "slave" in the second edition of the Oxford English Dictionary: "One who is the property of, and entirely subject to another person, whether by capture, purchase or birth; a servant completely divested of freedom and personal rights.”I include those who choose to become as such described in this definition. When i say "slave", i mean literal slave, defined in this way. This is just the everyday definition of "slave" that everyone grows up with, and it doesn't include the roleplay slaves you sometimes meet elsewhere in BDSM.

Before I get an overload of irate responses, no one is stopping people in other types of relationship calling themselves anything they like. However, if they're not literal slaves then i do not see how they can reasonably claim to be such (rather than making perfectly accurate statements that they like to be treated as a slave, to serve as a slave, to roleplay life as a slave or whatever other aspect of the idea of slavery they enjoy.)

(Note: parts of the above were quoted from an essay available for reading from the House of Tanos. I am in no way affiliated with this House but do appreciate the diversity and complexity of information on the subject available there.)

Bisexual, polyamorous, slave, top, switch

Bisexual because I am attracted to and enjoy sexual relationships with both men and women. I could be considered pansexual or omnisexual since I'm fine with TS and TG and men who identify as women etc, etc, however, bisexual just seems simpler and easier to communicate.

Polyamorous because I am oriented to be fulfilled in intimate relationships with more than one person.

Slave because I am oriented to be fulfilled in a M/s authority dynamic relationship.

Top because I enjoy playing as a top.

Switch because sometimes it's simpler to communicate than the blank stares I get when I tell people I'm a "slave top" and because I am able to submit and dominate within particular relationships and am fulfilled in both.

OscarHargraves -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 7:31:07 AM)

I am a Dom. I neither am, not want to be a Master. I do not want to own a slave or be responsible for her except when we are 'playing'. I enjoy a woman who can be my friend and my equal whenever we are out in public but can also submit totally to my desores whenever I demand it. I enjoy the TPE of having her go from equal to submissive every time she does it.

edianspet -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 7:31:27 AM)

When I met Edian 6 years ago, I met a strong, masculine, dominant man. From day one there was a spiritual connection, an immediate bond, and the most comfortable level of 'balance' that I have found in any experienced relationships in my lifetime. That 'balance' is because I naturally embraced my submissive nature because I found the 'right' man for me to do so, that man is a dominant.

I'm Raven... that is the one that matters.

Dom certainly fits as does Master to the right girl/s, When I am simply playing then Top would be appropriate given I don't/can't/wouldn't ever wish to switch.

As for why? Because those lables just happen to discribe what I do in being myself. When I care I take control, I build, shape and help her become what I can see she could be even if she can't see it at the beginning.

Myself...Dominant, only because that's my demeanor. I use the title Master, only because I am Master to at least one, this in no way implies that I am Master to anyone else, I believe this is a bestowed label and unless you have someone subservient to you, you cannot rightfully adorn this title.

I am an owned hedonist!

LadyMorgynn -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 8:56:02 AM)

Not to split hairs here, but before you go telling people that they are not "literal* slaves, I could point out that, if you live in the United States and many other countries in the world, you too are not a literal slave. You can wrap it and contract it and legal verbiage it any way you want, but at the end of the day, you can walk away and no court in the land will return you to your master if you decide you want out. It's still consensual, any way you swing it.

LadyMorgynn -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 8:59:39 AM)

I define myself as Dominant. Not Mistress, not top, but Dominant. It is what and who I am.

proudsub -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 10:13:05 AM)

I consider myself submissive. For 37 years i have been a 50's style housewife, doing everything to serve Hubby. About 6 years ago i learned about this lifestyle, researched it and realized it was what i needed. After explaining it all to Hubby, He realized his Dominance and we extended it to the bedroom about 3 years ago and couldn't be happier. I don't consider myself a slave because i have a great deal of freedom in my everyday vanilla life, but He always comes first.

BrianSenior -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 10:48:42 AM)

I am Dominant by nature. I am a Top in My relationship. I recieve pleasure in causing or inflicting a degree of pain to others (Consensual of course) so I fit in to being a Sadist as well, though I am not a heavy Sadist. I am not superior to My wife who is a switch, nor do I see My self as a superior to any one else who is a bottom. My wife and I have had others in our life that we shared times with in scenes as well as sexual and plain casual relationships, so we are poly as well.

perverseangelic -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 10:58:57 AM)

I am my Owner's girl.

I can't fit into 'slave' or 'sub' or 'submisisve.' They just don't work for me. So I'll stick to being his girl.

PlayfulOne -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 12:54:45 PM)

I'm just me

I am dominant, my little one usually calls me Daddy, sometimes Master, occasionally Sir, and "gasp" even just by my name

I usualy just refer to her as my little one, though when she speaks with others she calls herself my slave. I keep it on a much simpler level and just refer to her as mine.

I don't generally do well with boxes and labels

truesub4u -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 2:05:04 PM)

Depending on who you are talking to about me, i'm neither a submissive or slave. As for myself, i'm the furthest thing from a slave that there can be. I think to much, I speak to much, I feel to much, I want to much, I need to much.

Now I know as a submissive, that this also seems rare. But I can still be me in that I describe and be submissive. I'm not a switch, nor a top nor do I wish to be either. It all depends on who thinks what of who and how. But botom line, in me, I know who I am, what I am. And the one who wants to know, will know and accept, or move on as well.

scratchingpost -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 2:06:36 PM)

good question
i am slave i have embraced the power within then begged Master to take it.

Why the domme profile then? because He encouraged it.

IrishMist -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 2:16:49 PM)

Submissive. In the past, I have had others who argued that with me, saying I was more slave...but I tend to disagree with them...I think too much. [8D]

slavejali -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 2:23:38 PM)

I'm a free spirit.

I identify with slave as Master owns my heart. He purchased it.

I identify with submissive as I have a surrendering nature.

I identify as wife cuz I have taken on Masters last name, this also identifies me as slave cuz this is his brand on me the whole world can see and I'm really proud of it. This also identifies me as submissive cuz I believe a wife should submit to her husband.

I identify as a human bean as long as I'm in this world.

I identify myself as artistic and creative, cuz I am.

I identify as...umm what else would define me? grin

KnightofMists -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 2:25:06 PM)

I define myself as a Human Being,Hetro Male.... after that well it starts to get rather murky!

JalisMaster -> RE: Defining yourself (3/17/2006 2:41:16 PM)
