Over on Fet, there is a group called "The Sisterhood", for female dominants. Being an old skool feminist, I have always had that notion of female sisterhood, solidarity, that feeling that we are all in this together, etc. A submissive lady I know is vehement that she is no one's sister unless she is genetically related to them, and being in the same interest group or gender is meaningless.

What do you think? ARE we sisters under the skin? Or was old Rudyard talking through his hat?

I always think of the idea of women 'in sisterhood' in a way similar to that of 'brothers in arms'.  That is: there is such a thing as a sisterhood, but it may only be invoked when the fundamentals are being dealt with - when life, basic freedoms and raw necessities are in jeopardy.  Soldiers stop squabbling when they're attacked, close ranks, defend one another - and thereby begin, collectively, to become a brotherhood.  Women become 'a sisterhood' when they're somewhat similarly up against it.  Or they should do.  IMO.

To me a sisterhood means not to do treacherous things to my fellow gals. Simple, no biggie.
