Not to pick on you, TDP, because others have said similar things, but the only people allowing slitherification are the people reading the thread who haven't clicked the "Hide" button on domiguy's posts. That's fair enough, and for the most part I don't read him. By his own admission, nothing he says is meant to be taken seriously, and I've never gotten the whole "being obnoxious just for the sake of being obnoxious" thing as a form of humor, so why waste time reading it? And I don't respond to him at all. What is there to say? I don't respond to him any more than I'd bother trying to have a dialogue with a circus clown pedaling around on a unicycle. And for pretty much the same reason.
The problem I have with him is that he's nothing but a troll. He makes no bones about it - he admits that his posting style is to deliberately poke people in order to provoke a reaction. He does this most often by insulting people. If anyone else wandered in here and started doing that, everybody would line up shoulder to shoulder and call them a troll, so how is domi not a troll? But for some reason, a lot of people here think he's a funny troll, so instead of running him out on a rail the way they would any other troll, people fall all over themselves making excuses for him and patting him on his pointy little head - "oh, he's not really as much of an asshole as he acts." And often ridiculing the people who complain about him, accusing them of being the problem because they don't have a sense of humor; they're not seeing the "real" domiguy.
Fuck that. On a message board, you are what you post, and if you consistently and deliberately post like an asshole, then you're an asshole. It's discouraging to me that for a lot of people, the fact that they find him an amusing asshole makes it OK. To my mind, like any other troll, his self-centered bullshit is disruptive and degrades the experience of reading and posting here. I know that I'm in the minority, but I see absolutely nothing of value in his self-indulgent attention whore routine. He's obviously a really bright guy, but none of that comes through in any sort meaningful form, because it's all drowned out by the bullshit.
The reason I'd like to see him bounced out of here once and for all is the same reason I don't want any trolls infesting the place - he contributes nothing but disruption, and has no redeeming qualities. Others obviously disagree, so I'm sure they'll enjoy however many days or weeks he lasts before being "banned" again this time, but personally I'll enjoy the forums a lot more when he gets his ass pitched headfirst out the door again.
Edited to add: And while we're at it, I never liked the Three Stooges either. So fuck them, too!
