Doctrine and the d/s m/s relationship

It dawned on me that the d/s m/s relationship is an organization in that it has hierarchy, rules, obligations and expectations for and by it’s participants.

As such it is doctrinaire in nature. The purpose of this thread is to share and contribute ideas about doctrine and how it affects your relationships or relationships you hope to establish.

I have always been a big fan of the Monroe Doctrine. Followed closely by the Marshall Doctrine.

But the Truman Doctrine is more fun to read and debate about.

Doesn't doctrine mean also you don't let outside ideas influence your ideas?
If so..then I don't have a doctrine in my Ds relations.

The anagram of doctrine is centroid.

Jeffff -> RE: Doctrine and the d/s m/s relationship (12/28/2009 7:31:04 AM)

I suck at anagrams.

Kudos!

doctrine establishes hierarchy, rules, obligations and expectations for and by it’s participants.

sounds like d/s to me

thats not io mean it can't adapt

OSF, did you mean "doctinaire" or "doctrinal?"

That's why I said it's more fun to 'read about and debate.' [;)]

No, you got honest answers. What most answered you is that contrary to popular belief, most of us don't work with a script.

Of course there are groups and societies such a Other World Kingdom or Old Guard and others with their set of rules. What you'll realise however is that they represent a smaller percentage of the kink population, at least it is here.

While it is true that an unexamined life is not worth living, it is eaualy true the too much navel gazing can lead to paralysis.

Since so much of wiitwd is emotional, trying to codify it seems counter productive.

doctrine isn't a script, it's a structure, in this case it defines the d/s structure

it's a simple concept, you make rules you're making doctrine, you're in charge, she isn't, thats doctrine and so on and so on

mnottertail -> RE: Doctrine and the d/s m/s relationship (12/28/2009 8:28:15 AM)
