OP- As lady Pact pointed out, that goes both ways. You can bet that the subs here judge the Dom(mes) by their posts, too.

That being said, my biggest mistake was not getting the hell rid of my sub-frenzy induced insanity and bad judgement sooner than I did.  It was pretty embarrassing & humiliating when I realized I'd fallen prey to it and looked back on what a dumbass I was & the things I'd done for People I should never have done them for.  At that point I snapped out of it immediately.  ~crawling away all red-faced and stuff~

Oh don't be all red-faced, we've all done it.    i submitted for a month online to a guy on cam, naked, typing on my knees, the whole bit, before i found out he wasn't the blonde blue-eyed caucasian guy he advertised himself to be - he was short, pimply, dark-haired, and Asian.  Boy was that stupid.

The biggest early mistake I made was by purposely placing myself in dangerous situations by meeting men who I only knew by first name at hotels and allowing them to bind me.

Status: offline 		Turning red flags around and making excuses for someone. Was one mistake.

Assuming someone who has been in this lifestyle for many decades, and a little older then me, was right, another mistake i made.

What i learned was to follow my instinct..never led me astray before. Do not ever give anyone due credit just because they been 1. in this lifestyle a long time, or 2 they post a lot on here. Doesn't mean crap in my mind.

Because of my last experience, i have become very skeptical of professed Doms. who claim they been in this lifestyle for 40 years or so. It doesn't exclude them for being a player. They are just more polished. I now am not as naive anymore, which is good thing.

p.s. i do not any more look up towards anyone with a lot of posts under their s/n.. for guidance. It is sad, and now  makes me extremely skeptical. I am grateful though that when i started on CM 2 years ago, those who had a lot of posts were knowledgeable.  Though i might not agree with what they said, they had my respect.

P.s.s HAPPY NEW YEARS TO EVERYONE

people were more civil and contributed to the conversation

OSF if I may make a gentle observation, I have bolded the part which I feel is important in your post above.  Whether you are attacking people as the initiator or in self-defence it reflects extremely poorly on you as a person as all we have to judge you on is what you write.  I feel many of the questions you ask are interesting except it seems that each of your threads degenerates into a sniping festival and it also feels as if the one line responses from you to some thoughtful posts do not encourage actual dialogue.  If a person makes a sarcastic comment ignore them rather than responding and seeing it escalate, dig deeper into these topics, open up the conversation and allow people to open up more though more skilled over-seeing by you of the threads you post. Maybe read some other threads and see how the OP's respond to posts and encourage discussion and also are able to refocus the poster's when they are getting side-tracked, all without having to snipe.  Act honourably and with grace (in my opinion that is good advice for people on either side of the slash) in your replies and see if this improves the quality of the discussions on your threads.

In answer to this particular OP - not mistakes so much as me not having enough knowledge about bdsm and my own limits so that I found out about some hard limits through passing out from the pain.
