For those that dont know the concept of 'Birthers' (that would be most non-Americans). The 'movement' began shortly after Mr. Obama announced his run for the office. At the time, he was a relative 'no-body' (kinda of like Sarah Palin). When he won the Democratic Nomination, this loose group of Americans (who held conservative thoughts), started to demand evidence and proof that Mr. Obama was indeed a US citizen. They argued that when Mr. Obama was born, the isles known simply as 'Hawaii', was not a state. This failed, when reporters looked in to the issue, cracked open a history book, and found, that Mr. Obama was born two years AFTER Hawaii was entered in to the USA. So, birthers, by and large, fail at US History. Before the election, there are a list of checks that have to be run through to make sure one is qualified (read: basic level of requirements) to be a US President. The first, was if he was over the age of 45. The second, if he was a US Citizen. If someone is born in the USA, who's parents are not US Citizens, the child is considered a US Citizen. If a US Citizen gives birth (this would be a lady), to a child, ANYWHERE (including Planet Mars!), the child is a US Citizen. First the state to which the canidate was born, is checked and verified. Then, there is a Presidental Election committee that establishs if or not, a canidate, has successfully pass the requirements. This happens before the November 4th, 2008 election. Mr. Obama was shown to be born in Hawaii, just two years after Hawaii became an offical state of the United States of America. His mother, was a US Citizen. The state of Hawaii, verified that Mr. Obama was indeed born in that state. The Presidental Election committee verified everything was in order, checked, and verififed that Mr. Obama was eliable for the office, assuming he was elected, according to the Electoral College. Don't make me explain the US Electoral College. (safeword) So, what does the Birthers have for a stance on this? Absolutely nothing. They took it to court. FAIL. They appealed to an appellete court. FAIL. Then, took it to the US Supreme Court. This court is at the federal level. Basically, they are the final authority on planet Earth for all rulings regarding the USA. Oh...it FAIL TOO! The Birther 'movement' does not have a leg to stand on. Nor a valid arguement to make on the issue. They are just one more, in an ever growing group of people in the Republican tent (aka the GOP, or Grand Old Party), that want to attack Mr. Obama for no other reason, then, he's president, and a Democrat. You'd have to live in America for a while, to understand it. Now, in regards to the US Secret Service. The Secret Service has two roles: Protect the US President, Vice President, and important persons (usually visiting diplomats and their families), and, thos who Conterfet US currency. As one poster already noted, the Secret Service takes their job very seriously. The day Mr. Reagan was shot, the global stock markets went in to sell mode. So, it goes without saying, the health of a US president has an economic impact.
