You've gone above and beyond already.  I can't thank you enough.

Tantriqu -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/26/2010 6:36:51 PM)

Thanks for your hard work. If this eliminates even one dud msg to each of us, that's a bajillion right there.

I'd suggest in your re-draft putting your top two or three subjects first, e.g., profile, etiquette, first contact, and ending with one-line headings and quick links. These include some of my favourites and least favourites which you're considering dropping, but would be a perfect place to file Strap-on/feminization/forced anything, which are still important topics and cause a lot of miserable communication on both sides of the kneel. As has been stated, you could even link it to this thread, or construct a new one.

And if it hasn't been covered yet, please add about photos: profile and first contact: ok not to have a face pic, not ok to send a cockshot.

Thanks again

Just so ya know, this has been addressed in the CMail Etiquette section. I don't think that portion is going to be eliminated.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/27/2010 12:46:36 AM)

Here's draft #2.  All of the threads older than 6 months have been removed and I've rearranged a few things.  I still need to add a couple of links to dedicated threads for things like CMail Etiquette, embed hyperlinks in text, and/or title the links.  Please look it over and let me know if anything still needs work.

Introduction

Welcome to the Ask A Mistress forum FAQ.  This FAQ is designed to help you make the most of your experience on CollarMe/CollarChat.  Please take a few minutes to read it and explore the links included.  If you don’t find the answer to your question in this FAQ, please use the Search feature http://www.collarchat.com/search.asp to look for past threads that might deal with your question.  We also encourage you to familiarize yourself with the TOS http://www.collarchat.com/tos.asp and Forum Guidelines http://www.collarchat.com/m_72/tm.htm before you post.

Etiquette

Please remain respectful of others points of view and ask questions that are pertinent.  Please refrain from posting inflammatory or accusatory remarks about FemDoms as a group.  We are unique and sweeping generalizations will only result in a very negative thread.  Remember, no one is here to cater to your fantasies and fetishes.  We are here to have intelligent discussions regarding a variety of interests.  Please try to word your question in a way that shows you are interested in promoting discussion and not trolling for masturbation material.

Often, your questions can be answered by doing a search of the archives.  Please check the date of a thread and try to avoid commenting on anything more than 6 months old.  If you would like to start a discussion based on a thread more than 6 months old, create a new post and include a link to the old thread.  Posts telling people the “right” or “true” way to do things are unwelcome.  If you are very knowledgeable about a certain topic, we welcome you to share your experiences, just keep your mind open to other possibilities.

Q: I’m a professional dominatrix – can I advertise here?

A: If you are a pro domme, there is a special section of the boards for you to advertise your services and post a link to your website. http://www.collarchat.com/forumid_40/tt.htm  Please use it instead of posting an ad in Ask A Mistress or other section of the forums.  If you are a professional and would like to contribute to the discussions here, we welcome your input.  However, if you attempt to solicit clients in this forum, rest assured we will report your posts to the moderators and have them moved to the area designated for that purpose.

Common Kinks/Fantasies

Q: Are there any (how many) dominant women into [insert your favorite kink here]?

A: While there is no way to answer the question of how many dominant women enjoy a particular activity, we can assure you that if you like it, chances are there’s a dominant woman somewhere in the world who likes it too.  However, it’s beyond our ability to guarantee you’ll find one here.  What we can guarantee is that, if you post a thread asking how many dominant women like your choice in kinks, many of us will be quick to assume you’re looking for semi-pornographic material to fuel your masturbatory fantasies (i.e. “wank fodder”) and shoot you down in record time.

If you’re looking for erotic stories, please refer to the Creative Writings section http://www.collarchat.com/forumid_44/tt.htm, or to one of the many websites dedicated to erotic writing such as Akasha’s Web http://www.akashaweb.com/ or Literotica http://literotica.com/

Forced Anything

Q: Are there any dominant women here who will force me to [fill in the blank]?

A: This question always raises the debate over how can an activity be “forced” if the sub wants to do it?  Generally speaking, we believe it’s impossible to force you to do something you find enjoyable.  Many of us refuse to believe it’s forced if you’re asking a woman to do it with you, to you, or for you.  A scene where you role-play being forced to do something you enjoy is another matter and many of us enjoy this type of play.  Please learn to recognize the difference.

Feminization

Q: Where are the women who love to turn men into little sissy boys and make them wear women’s clothes?

A: Some women love feminization, some hate it.  Some women will only consider doing it if it’s with a trusted partner in the context of a loving, committed relationship.  Below, you’ll find some threads which display a wide variety of opinions about the topic.  There is also a thread dedicated to tips, advice, and support by and for those who love it or are at least open to the idea of feminization.

CBT, anal/strap-on play, trampling, feet/shoes, and other fetishes

There have been dozens of threads about these topics.  Please use the Search feature to look for them.

Common Complaints

Q: Why are there so many scammers, fakes, professional dominants demanding tribute, wankers who disappear after a few emails, [insert other complaint] here?  Are there any real dommes/subs?

A: We encounter these types of complaints on a routine basis.  Sometimes, several of them crop up in the same week or even the same day.  Welcome to the internet, let the buyer beware.  Your best defense against these individuals is to learn to spot them and then use the Report Profile http://www.collarme.com/personals/help.htm#2 feature provided by the site administrators.  If a profile receives enough reports, the administrators will remove it.  You should also keep in mind that one person's fake is another's ideal partner.  If someone is incompatible with you, they are not necessarily fake.  Recognize their right to do what works for them and move on to someone else.

 Professional Dominatrix vs. Lifestyle Domina

Q: What’s the deal with all the gold-digging prostitute dommes who want money on this site?

A: There are quite a few professional dominatrices who use CM to advertise their services.  Some of them also use the site to search for submissive partners for non-professional relationships.  Many of us feel they are providing a valuable service and we respect their dedication and hard work.  Some of us believe men who are interested in only one type of play, who want casual play without the commitment of a relationship, who desire a “discreet” encounter outside of their marriages, or who adhere to a rigid fantasy scenario from which they do not want to deviate would be happiest if they made use of a professional dominatrix’s services.  While we recognize your right not to use a professional’s services, we ask you to recognize their right to earn a living in any way they choose without flinging insults like “prostitute” or “gold-digger” at them.

Q: Why won’t dommes answer my CMail?

A: There are many reasons a dominant woman doesn’t respond to email.  Perhaps you are too young, too old, too far away, married, or you don’t share the same interests.  Sometimes, it just boils down to lack of chemistry.  If she reads your message, inspects your profile, looks at your picture, and doesn’t feel a spark of interest, she probably won’t reply.  Most women will not respond to a message of only one or two lines or one that demonstrates you haven’t read her profile.  Another possibility is that your profile is too short or comes across as too focused on yourself and your kinks.  Below are links to on-going threads dedicated to getting help with your profile and improving your introductory email.

I'll post it here when I'm finished.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 11:13:54 AM)

Ok, that looks great.  Nice touch adding the links to the search feature.  Since you wrote the CMail Etiquette document, would you like to set up the dedicated thread(s) for Profile/Email help?  Once that's done, we can add the link and post the "official" FAQ.  I'm not sure if we should do Profile Help as one thread and First Contact as another or do them together.  They're related issues, but each has it's own issues.  Which way do you think would be least confusing?

Domin8tingUrDrmz -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 11:35:25 AM)

I'd be happy to, but before I do I have several questions.

Should the CMail Etiquette section be included in the thread for Email Help, or is it going to be included in the FAQ?

Additionally, as far as First Contact/Profile Help, I'm not sure which would be least confusing either. I'd like to keep them both together as one thread, but I can see how it could get overwhelming.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 11:45:20 AM)

Well, as great as the CMail Etiquette section was, it's also one of the things that made the FAQ way too long.  I think it would be best to make a dedicated thread where the first post is a list of Do's and Don'ts and then link that into the FAQ with a short note about what the link is for.  Since the Profile and First Contact threads are so intertwined, let's split the difference -- two dedicated threads, one for each topic, and then the first post of each should contain a link to the other.  How does that sound?

Domin8tingUrDrmz -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 12:24:33 PM)

That works for me. However, before you set up a finalized FAQ thread, there is still one area to be addressed.

The portion in Common Complaints, Why won't a Domme answer my email?, there is a section for links. Have you found any current links to insert there or do you intend to eliminate the [links] part?

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 12:42:55 PM)

That's where I plan to put the links to the designated threads.  There will be a couple of sentences about using the threads to get help with making the most of profile and CMail in order to maximize their chances of getting a reply.

Domin8tingUrDrmz -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 12:48:06 PM)

Okay. Give me a day or three and I will get those threads started.

Here's what I plan:

Contacting a Domina/CMail Help (to include the CMail Etiquette)
Profile Help: How to attract a Dominant Woman (to include Profile Photo help)

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 12:50:06 PM)

That sounds fine.  Oh, and are you familiar with NLP?  I've been using some of those techniques when I write.  If you're not familiar, let me know and I'll explain what I've been doing.

Domin8tingUrDrmz -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 12:54:10 PM)

NLP? Nope, can't say that I am. Since this project is your baby, if you'd like, I can send you the MS Word write ups, let you edit, and then I can post it and add in the relevant links where appropriate.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 3:02:08 PM)

Ok, that might be easier than trying to explain.  It's not hard once you understand the technique, but the explanation will take longer than the editing.  [;)]

Domin8tingUrDrmz -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 3:33:40 PM)

Oh, don't get me wrong, I'd love the explanation [:)]. But feel free to share that with me when you have more time.

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 3:41:07 PM)

Ok, I'll explain how I did the edits when I send them back.  Can't reveal all my diabolical secrets on the boards, ya know.  [:D]

LadyAngelika -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 6:19:30 PM)

Looks great Ladies! You integrated the search functions as well, which is awesome.

I would recommend this thread as well: 10 Steps For Making A Good First Impression (http://www.collarchat.com/m_30125/tm.htm) which was written years ago to deal with the common complaints.

And this one too: The Hypocritical Domme (http://www.collarchat.com/m_3031816/tm.htm) thought the title leaves a little to be desired.

LadyAngelika -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 6:21:54 PM)

The other thing, before the paragraph on the 6 month old rule, perhaps a header that says "older thread resurrection"? I feel it could pop-out a little more... what do you think?

- LA

SylvereApLeanan -> RE: FAQ Setup (1/28/2010 6:30:37 PM)

Sure, we can toss in that heading.  No problem.
