Beyond that, a friend of mine -- who had a profile here for a long time, though I doubt she ever posted -- is a fantastic illustrator, who had her own art studio for a while. A divorce and studio closure later, she is now the cheese manager at a grocery store. She still paints on the side, and she has gotten friends -- artists and musicians -- jobs as stockers and clerks in the grocery store. That way they have some steady income, because people aren't buying art or going to live music as much, because of the economy.
So you never know who is bagging your canned goods. And even if the bagger has "no skills at all," you can still treat them decently. Jeez.
Some people seem unable to care about anyone but themselves.
