I'm fine in signing my real name in messages and what not. I sometimes do it in board psts, when I think of it. My name is Shannon :)

My lifestyle to all. Now to address using
your real name online. If You DONT
know how to protect your name online
DONT use it period, It can be stole from
you if you are not experianced in how to
protect it. If you have to ask how does one
protect their name on the internet, you are NOT
a canadate for using your REAL NAME ONLINE.
Hope this answers your questions.

My name really is benji, I really am a dog, but not all that good.  A few days ago I learned to open the fridge with my nose, and since then, my owners are wondering where the hell all the steaks are going.  Ironically, the lettuce stays right there.

I also regularily "go" in the brita filter.  They trust that thing way too much.

"Honey, the water's yellow again!"

"That must be all of the clear toxins filtered out!"

"Yay!  And the ones that taste like nothing, too!"

Coughed up a hairball today.  Hairball being the neighbour's cat.  Did not sit so well.  Well, that and I learned not to mix rum with cat.

That's all for today's installment of benji the retarded Australian Stumpy Tail Cattle Dog.

Yours,

benji

PS:  http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/stumpytailcattledog.htm  It really is a breed!!!!

I have always signed posts with Nika it is a nick name that Phoenix gave me when we first meet. It in ways is a part of my birth name sliced and diced. Those  that get to know me via conversations ect get my birth name. Though most don't use it Nika seems to be used by even my parents these days. *laughs*

I would NEVER sign an email with my full birth name unless it ws to someone I knew well. I just personally think that is to much personal information to give a total stranger.

I know a woman who in 7 years of being online in various forums has NEVER once used her real name and very few know it. She simply is not confortable with it.

I think that is the point. We each as adults have to decide what we are comfortable with.

Blessed Be

Nika{Phoenix}

I have no problem using my real first name (which is Nicole...nice to meet you all!), but it's not the name I prefer. It's a nice name, but pretty common, and I don't feel like it fits me very well. So any time I'm in a situation where I want to show the "real" me, I use Avalon. I chose it for myself, rather than having it assigned to me at birth, and I like the way it feels. Anyone who is close to me, and knows about the life I'm leading, uses it.

And yes, as mentioned further up-thread, my picture is attached to every post I make. So if someone I know from real life is reading these posts, not using my name won't keep them from knowing it's me. And if someone like that *is* reading this...surprise! I'm in a D/s relationship!

Respectfully,
Avalon

I not only sign my name at the bottom, I also have a picture up  About two days after joining here, I was getting comments from some of the other students that I go to school with, though they still refuse to tell me what their ID's are on here.

My name is Teresa and I don't have a problem using it anywhere. I happen to like Pita best because that is the name my Dom gave me and over the last year it has truly come to feel like my name.

Lord and master, wow!  Who ran that household when he was a child?
I think Brightspot is correct, a snip from a Dali painting but i found it right here on the CM avatars.  I thought it was sorta cool.

Heh, i consider Dribbler to be my "Real" name,
the Name my Parents Gave me is Peter, and i don't even use that I prefer Pete.
I rarely if ever use Pete on the Net, i use Dribbler for 99% of all my writing.
I don't seen any problems with me doing it that way... I just don't see reasons for me to use my name.

never had much of a problem useing my real name, or a varation any way in online, i wouldnt give out my full name to any one, of course, very few in rl  can say they know that.  but the world is full of jakes.. i rarely rember to "sign" posts any more,  though when i do i tend to use the persona, im under as my name rather then my real one, or some varation of wolf since ive ran under such handels well as long as i can rember. ... much as Iorn Bear said way back in this thread, ive been under wolf names so long even many of my family tend to use it over a "real" name  anyway.. my .01
