physical disabilities seem to be excepted alot easier than mental or emotional disabilities, probably due to what it would take to work with such a submissive.

Actually I disagree. It's the attitude of the person, no matter what their disability, that can either be a hinderance, or not.

Life is rougher than a rugby match, and if you're looking for someone over 40 you just have to accept that they are going to show some marks of age.

Personally, I just think it adds character.

As far as this thread goes..being a nurse..(of course..grin)..I have heard from many on here who have a disability one way or another.I of course wont blow smoke, but, there is always a sock for every foot..it may take longer, but (laugh) it seems to take a long time for everybody to find their fit so to speak..anyway I digress..there are many disabled in the "life"...it is their approach with this disability that counts..their attitude ....be well...tempting

Just pointing out that not all physical disabilities are visible ones. If you saw Master walking along the street you might notice He is walking a little slower than most but that's all. In fact He has renal failure, arthritis from neck to feet, and diabetes.

I met Master online nearly 3 years ago, He already had all His health problems. It did not faze me at all. The last couple of years together have been the happiest of my life, despite the times when He has been ill and/or in hospital.

I got to know the kind, loving person who just happens to live with ill health. When I came to visit Him for the first time, He had 5 hypoglycemic attacks (low blood sugar) in the first 4 days, one of which I had to call the ambulance for. If I was going to run for the hills that would have been the time to do it

A disability does not preclude you from finding someone, but your attitude might. *That's a generic "you" not referring to anyone in particular* Master doesn't let His problems get Him down and we enjoy our life together as much as we can. He swings a mean flogger and crop and has introduced me to so much I never knew was possible.

Hello all,

Ok, new girl here diving right in.

I will not go into your profile, only you know what you want to say.  But in answer to the real question you asked.

I once spent a great deal of time with a Dom that was both confined to a w/c and only had the use of one arm.  It is a time I look upon with wild memories of great sex and full service.

One thing I will say though......... Its an attitude thing and Doms need to show they have themselves under control.  I could never trust a Man who seemed to be angry with Himself.

I am somewhat uncomfortable with the sentiment that has been shown in this thread. I believe that some disabilities can create a lot of difficulty in forming relationships in general and particularly so in BDSM relationships due to my experiences of being involved with disabled individuals. An example is that my primary partner of years is hard-of-hearing. Because of this, he cannot participate in group discussions and this makes it very difficult for him to socialize, which leads to a difficulty in finding partners. This is not an issue of "bad attitude" but rather an inability to participate due to people's expectations that you can hear. And a lot of our behavior could be adjusted to make it more easy for them to participate in our community. Munches are really hard for hard-of-hearing people because it is unstructured. My partner has little chance of hearing what someone is saying if he can't watch the person who is talking, and this complicates things when multiple people are talking close by. People tend not to remember to talk loudly for long periods of time even if they are aware that someone who is hard-of-hearing is present. And since he is under twenty-one, munches and discussion groups tend to be the only parts of the BDSM community that is available to him. I think this makes it harder for him to participate in the community than it is people with normal hearing and a difficulty that cannot be erased by "attitude".

OutofHabit, my comment was directed at Michael for a number of reasons, all of which I do not plan to rehash at this time. However, to respond to what you said;

I still disagree. A person's attitude has alot to do with it. Now granted, I will admit that some disabilities make certain activities impossible ( simply because of the danger that is involved ), but a person can either be upbeat about it, or sit and complain about it on a hourly/daily basis. In other words, have a good attitude, or a bad attitude.

Hello, whiteslaveboy...you just stated that you are disabled, but your profile doesn't mention it and it goes on and on. Perhaps if you were upfront with people. As I read in several threads here, if a person is going to click with you they don't even mind your disablity. It's you that have the problem with your disablity not us.

A few days ago, I posted a note about how I'd found that people I've known with the persistence to stick with it and an upbeat attitude had all found partners in the scene.  I didn't detail it, but the list of success stories includes three people in wheelchairs, three blind people, four with moderate to profound deafness and two with diagnosised mental handicaps.  That's just off the top of my head.  I suspect there are a number of others who don't come to mind.

As an example of upbeat, one of the people who was using wheelchairs has had so many back operations that he'd had a tattoo of a zipper put over his spine.  I understand it completely cracked up the surgeon the first time he saw it.

LOL Mr Warren after today's surgery, my Dr and I joked of the same tattoo for my back. Said it would make it easier to just unzip me when there's a problem.

Attitiude..... it's all in attitude. Ones willingness to want.. and go get. One has to over come their own before anyone else can.

i can only speak for myself here. The fact that a Dom was disabled would have nothing to do with my decision to serve him. For me personally, it is all about his mind and the body that carries him is only a case to hold what is important.
