hello, lurker is going to finally say something. i have a "mental" disabilty, bi-polar weehaa.. it does play a part in everyday life, but it is just something that is there. that has to be dealt with. if anything i think it gives me added character. sure it complicates things, but i learned to deal with it long ago. i refuse to let it define who i am. life is to short to become the negatives. i don't mean to sound like an optimistic fool, but an optimal enthuist. i will be happy. that is all any of us can strive for. well i think..

love and light

Join the club, line forms at the rear.
I always joke with single guys that the best place to pick up women is at bi-polar support groups (hyper sexuality and OCDs etc), lol.

People with bi-polar aren't crazy. Its just that the "normal" ones havent caught up yet, lol.

I have a disability or two myself.  I have degenerative disc disease, had two heart attacks within a month and some damn vein disease.  My sub has stuck through all of this with me.  We had been together for 2 years when this all started to happen and have been together 8 years now.

While I can't do everything that I used to do, I can do most everything at a slower pace.  There is good and bad points in that statement LOL

My nephew was in a diving accident when he was 17 years old and ended up being a quadraplegic.  Two years ago when he was 37 he met this lady that is one of the most sexiest women I have seen and she's a sweetheart and treats my nephew as a woman would any other man without disabilities and without pity.

My sub found out last year she has cancer, while I wouldn't wish cancer on anyone, that didn't change my feelings for her in the least and didn't change our lifestyle in the least either, if anything it brought us closer together.

My point in all of this is........I think there is someone for everyone regardless of any disabilities you may have.  You might need patience to find them but they are there.  When you love someone then it just doesn't matter about disabilities, whether you have them or they have them.

Or we're always told and expected to keep our voices down talking loudly is disruptive and rude. In munches ina restarant They're supposed to keep it down so they do not disturb the whole rest of the place, after all one or two people talking loudly can drown out other convo's or be heard through the restarant.

Which of course doesn't help the person who can not hear if it's not loud enough.

People tend not to remember to talk loudly for long periods of time even if they are aware that someone who is hard-of-hearing is present.

What are we supposed to tell you--having a disability is NOT a disadvantage?  Of course it's a disadvantage.  It sucks and it's not fair, but I don't see what we're supposed to do about it.

My subbie is disabled.  I can't say that it has no effect on our relationship or the way we live our day to day lives, but I can say that it was not a factor in my interest level in collaring him.  Everybody's got challenges in life, and the ones he has had to face from living with CP seem to have made him a better and stronger person with a lot to offer in the way of personality, intellect and creativity.  Given a choice between a subbie whose legs don't work so well but whose brain definitely does, and a cute young thing with strong legs and less of a brain, it's a no-contest situation.  A kinky gamer geek sub with the intelligence and creativity to run awesome D&D campaigns, yep, that one's definitely for me.  The disability part was a hell of a lot less important than the compatibility part.

It's nice to be able to make lemonade out of the lemons that life hands you on occasion, so I'll remark that some of the bondage positions he can get into look fucking amazing.  He can't be hogtied very well in the normal position since his legs bend at a bit of an odd angle, but he can be tied in some really extreme positions that look absolutely torturous and brutal but are completely easy and comfortable for him.  We've really made some jaws drop at play parties, which is always good fun.

At some point I'm going to take pictures of these bondage sessions, which look like I broke his fucking knees to get him into them, and send them to annoying subs who pester me online.  "THIS is what I do to slaves who belong to me, and you're next in line if you wanna serve ME!"  Hee hee.

www.kinked.org has some good resources for people in the lifestyle with disabilities.

Disability means little to me, attitude means everything.
