look at this.. and you WONDER why i feel they should be tossed out on their asses?

In case you dont know.. the flag.. when displayed publicly, is supposed to be on top (last i checked. i *could* be wrong about this)
not only that, but... its hung upside down.. which.. if memory serves... is only used in times of distress...

They cant even show proper respect for our flag.... but they want rights.. yah.. uh huh.. ok...

Ah, this is the mexicans in california flying their flag over ours. You know, I have heard that's considered a declaration of war.

(Everyone, look in the background, not the foreground.)

MochaMistress -> RE: Legally Illegal? (5/2/2006 6:15:52 PM)

I was just wonder what part of illegal did I misread. So marijuana is an illegal substance should I keep protesting so that it can be purchased at the counter with cigarettes? That can be a later topic if it has not been discussed. I feel empathy for the exploited. Immigration reforms need to be put in place, heck our government needs to be reformed but I'm still stuck at what part of illegal did I misread.  Illegal is illegal.

I come from the land of Down Under,
what  happens here with our illegal immigrants is as bad  if not worse, and yes most, if not all aussies are pissed off with it.
to land on australian soil as an illegal the govt gives you 12 grand ( for incidentals)  sit in a detention centre awaiting a decision and they pay you a wage for living expenses ( when my tax clothes and feeds you and putsa roof over your head) and if the decision goes against you and you are repatriated they give you a ''thankyou for coming cheque''
You guys hammer your own government and with due cause ( George Bush is a bit of a dingo's bum) but Im beginning to wonder whether our Prime Minister has been drinking the same dickhead juice that GWB  does....
anyone wanna emigrate to OZ? the moneys good....

If a hungry stranger knocks on my door and asks for some food, I may feel obliged to let him in.

If another hungry stranger sneaks in the back door and helps himself, then he is a thief.

If that same hungry stranger complains to me when I put a lock on the door, then he is a thief with enormous balls.

I find it totally amusing that We argue such ignorant issues here with any. FYI there were serveral *FATHERS OF THE CONSTITUTION* who were NOT American and could of been concidered illigal aliens by today standards but still assisted in writing it.
ThankYou Top Hat and Cane for saying what I would of. Sometimes a outside looking in prospective is the best one. The Constititution was written by those who came here befor America was established and if the Folks who were allready here had any immigration laws in effect as today, not one of the founding Fathers would of had a chance to become * American * or even write the constitution that protected Them All.

Name one.

meatcleaver -> RE: Legally Illegal? (5/4/2006 2:04:17 AM)

I have always said the founding fathers were the mirror image of their counter parts in Britain and like their counterparts in Britain were more concerned about self engrandisement and laisez faire economics than freedom for the masses. Behind closed doors they were more likely discussing how much they could make out of the new country than giving the average colonist any rights.  Which they failed to do!

Your post brought to me what is a distinction to me.

Citizens and permenant residents have every right to protest marijuana laws, or any other laws. The First Amendment is a collective promise that we will be allowed to protest against policies (free speech, free assembly and the right to demand rectification of wrongs).

Illegal immigrants, and temporary visa holders are granted no such rights under our constitution.

All of the people you name were citizens during the formulation of the current United States Constitution. This means none of the people you mentioned could be "considered illegal aliens", as you asserted in your original post.

Try again?

Mercnbeth -> RE: Legally Illegal? (5/10/2006 8:39:17 AM)

From a email received; a great idea to place the burden on the true offender, the employers of illegals.  I
quote:

have a friend who is president of his homeowner's association  in Washington. They are having a terrible problem with trash on the side of the road that is around the association's homes. The reason according to Wallace (my friend) is, being built just next to them, six new homes..... big ones! Wallace said the trash is coming from the Mexican work crews working at the construction sites. (McDonald Bags, Burger King trash, etc). He has pleaded with the site supervisors and the general contractor to no avail, called the City, County, and the Police and got no help. So.................. guess what some people in his community did? They organized about twenty folks, named themselves The "Inner Neighborhood Services" to go out at lunch time and "police" the trash themselves. It is what they did while picking up the trash that is HILARIOUS !!!!!!!! They got some navy blue baseball caps and had the initials "INS" in gold put on the caps. It doesn't take a rocket scientist, however, to understand what they hoped people would think it means. Well the day after their first pick up detail, with them wearing their caps and some carrying cameras; 46 out of 68, of the construction workers did not show up for work the next morning!!!!!!!!............. and haven't come back yet!!!!! It has been ten days.  Now the General Contractor, I understand is madder than hell, but can't say anything publicly, because he could be busted for hiring "illegal aliens". Wallace and his bunch can't be accused of impersonating INS folks, because they have it on their home owner association records the vote to form the new committee within their
association, plus they informed the INS about what they were doing in advance, and the INS said basically according to Wallace.............."Have at it"!

Tantalus42 -> RE: Legally Illegal? (5/12/2006 8:40:43 PM)

Have to agree with Mercnbeth.  We all know who is fighting all these immigration reform laws:  fat cat employers who hire illegals.  If we legalize them, they'd have to pay minimum wage at least AND give them breaks AND all the other benefits they are supposed to have.  If we kick them all out, there goes their cheap labor force and they would have to pay Americans more to do the same work.   They're screwed both ways.

So let's screw them.  Let's do one or the other, and come down hard on the morons who hire them in the first place and utilize them as sweat-shop style labor so they can maximize their profits.  And then let's make sure we label China as a illegal currency manipulator so it's not cheaper to send our work there.

Mercnbeth -> RE: Legally Illegal? (5/16/2006 3:35:50 PM)

I’ve sent a letter to every politician who “represents” me. The local Mayor, Congressman, Senators, and yes, even President Bush; all were asked the same question. Why can’t we enforce our borders and the laws concerning the borders by making the cost of deportation the imposed fine for hiring a person who is in the country illegally? I did not receive one response that wasn’t a form letter that included solicitation of campaign money. In keeping with my philosophy of voting against any incumbent, I made sure that a few dollars went to any candidate running against anyone who solicited funds.

I won’t downplay my own argument and disgust with the current administration, by reverting to name calling, but last night President Bush’s speech made me think of the main character from the Who’s rock opera ‘Tommy’. He seemed “deaf – dumb – blind” to the citizens he represents. Unfortunately there is no voice of reason on the other side of the aisle.

Before going to the crux of this post maybe someone more intelligent than me can differentiate between the result of a “guest worker program” and “amnesty”? Not the difference in the words but the difference by the result of the words.

But in keeping with the “guest worker” concept I’ve decided to run with the concept and expand it into a business opportunity. Coming soon, via an on-line correspondence program that I’m writing you too can enjoy “guest worker” status. Are you the product of a poor upbringing where you didn’t have the opportunity to attend a good school? Were you’re a product of a family without the means or ability to pay for your college education? Were you just too dumb to get into graduate school or, unlike Senator Kennedy or President Bush, didn’t have a proper “legacy” to get into Yale or Harvard? Do you just not want to take the time, study, and go through all that’s necessary to legally call yourself a Doctor? Well then, why not sign up for a “guest Doctor” certificate.

Why should the unfortunate occurrence of your birth stop you from being “all that you can be” and all you WANT to be? There is a shortage of Doctors. There are some locations where Doctors don’t want to work, not just in remote areas of Appalachia, but clinics are closing throughout LA due to no Doctors wanting to work for “low wages” in these areas. “Low Wages” – are defined by $75,000/year for a new resident. Similar to the Mexican day laborer “guest workers”, who take jobs that, “no American will take” I propose sending “guest Doctors” into the same areas and clinics closed because of the extraordinary number of illegal aliens; solving two problems with one solution.

If you’ve “played doctor” as a kid, or still do, why not put your skills to work? You too can be a “guest Doctor”! Just hang out your Guest Doctor shingle and start “practicing”. Why worry about the legality? “Legal” is a matter of perspective and ultimately being “illegal” is just someone else’s warped idea of integrity and honor. One of the arguments heard yesterday regarding the legitimacy of “rights” of illegal aliens was that originally all of California belonged to them. After 5 or 6 generations they want it back. Reasonable - Lets run with the idea.

Most likely somewhere in your history someone in your family history was a Doctor or involved in the medical profession. Remember in the past barbers were the first general practice doctors. The barber pole colors, red, white, blue (US) symbolize the bandages used during the medical procedures they performed. The idea makes more sense in this application in the medical profession where traditionally the family practice was handed down from one generation to the next? Why bother with schooling or passing a test to make it “legal”? You are entitled!

The “Merc School of Professional Guest Workers” will help research your genealogy and we GUARANTEE that we’ll find someone who was related to you that was in the medical profession. We hope to be open in time for the fall semester. I’m also considering a “Guest Dentist”, “Guest CPA”, “Guest Engineer”, and a “George Costanza Guest Architect” program. I was considering a “Guest Attorney” program, but after doing some research realized that we already have millions working with that status active in the US. Many of them are currently holding political office.

I’m also looking for people to open an undergraduate division for the “Guest Police” “Guest Fireman”, and “Guest Teacher” programs.

quote:

HISTORICAL BARBER REFERENCE

Red for the bandage stained with blood during the operation and white for the clean bandages. These bandages were hung out on the pole to dry after washing. As the bandages blew in the wind, they would twist together to form the spiral pattern similar to the stripes in the modern day barber pole. The bloodstained bandages emerged as the emblem of the barber-surgeon’s profession. Later in time, the emblem was replaced by a painted wooden pole of red and white stripes. These colors are recognized as the true colors of the barber emblem. Red, white and blue are widely used in America due in part to the fact that the national flag used these colors. Another interpretation of these barber pole colors is that red represents arterial blood, blue us symbolic of venous blood and white depicts the bandage. The problem is, that in the modern world not even America can isolate itself. The emergence of China as the worlds chief manufacturer is a fact, even if America doesn't use China, companies from other countries will and undercut American companies. America's competitors would love American protectionism as it will give them a competitive advantage.
